Pros: Decent image quality. Well built. Precise mechanics.

Cons: Aperture stops are not marked. Image Stabilising is mediocre. Not wide enough on the wide end and not long enough on the long end. And too dark at the long end.

Opinion: I have this lens for a test (second hand, about EUR 250, mint condition) and I may keep it until Fuji delivers the 16-80 lens promised for next year. I would not buy this lens new though - as local shops want over EUR 600 for a new one! Way too expensive compared to equal lenses from Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Tamron, etc. Basically lack of aperture marks and price are the disappointments but the quality of the images is good. So if you can get this lens cheap and you do not need aperture stops, then this is good optics. Warning: newer samples are said to be built outside Japan. The one I have is made in Japan.

Pros: Sharpness, no flare, no chromatic aberrations, personality, weight

Cons: Barrel that comes out zooming, prices rising (which becomes almost a pro confirming the fame he has built over the years)

Opinion: Say what you want, the lens is a little gem for its segment. I have fixed lenses; on the 14th, the 35th Fuji.... lenses now with a few years on their shoulders but as we all know, lenses with their own particular and unique character and yet.... After making the mistake of selling it to monetize years ago to switch to fixed I had to buy it again due to withdrawal crisis. Much more emblazoned and 4 times more expensive lenses at Fuji - I'm talking about non-fixed focal lengths, what sense does it make to compare it to fixed lenses?!! - they have defects such as loss of sharpness edges, flare, ghost.... ours always behaves in an excellent way and never betrays ... if you don't ask him the impossible!!!!!! It is useless to compare it to pro lenses, it makes no sense, we think about its segment. In the hands of someone who knows how to take photos with a fuji in his hand, you take home shots of enormous satisfaction as per the photographic contributions you find in the gallery. Vote 9

Pros: Size, construction, stabilizer, very good overall optical quality...

Cons: ... But with clear limits in sharpness wide aperture, distortion and evident vignetting at 18mm, the price in used cars is going up.

Opinion: Lens for price and exceptional target. It was my first Fuji system lens and I sold it to switch to a fixed, but in hindsight I regretted it. Because although it does not have the quality of a fixed lens, it has other qualities that make it a reliable lens that finds its space within a set: excellent construction, sharpness in intermediate focal lengths, it is an excellent solution for those who want to make videos thanks to the fast and silent autofocus. Those who learn to handle it by understanding its limits can only have an all-rounder lens that will give satisfaction. Lately it occurred to me to look for it used, and I noticed that prices have risen, once you could find it at 200/250€, while now in a month of research I have not been able to find decent lenses at less than 350€ and for this price, as far as I'm concerned, more interesting solutions open up, that is, the 16-55 2.8 Mark I which is seeing a drop in price in the used market due to the release of the Mark II, and is currently also used at € 500/550. But going back to the 18-55, definitely a lens that if found at a good price is an excellence.

Pros: Excellent construction, colors, footprint, good sharpness

Cons: Lacks screen printing of the diaphragms

Opinion: Far from a kit lens even if it is so proposed, it is stabilized, I don't know if it solves the 40 megapixels of the latest cameras from which it still benefits, portable because it is light and not bulky. It is not tropicalized, but the size is small, which allows it to be easily protected. I was going to replace it, but then I changed my mind.

Pros: A Compact and Well-Built Optical Stellar Kit Lens Linear Motor, LM, for fast and quiet autofocus OIS, Image Stabilizer

Cons: A Compact and Well-Built Optical Stellar Kit Lens Linear Motor, LM, for fast and quiet autofocus OIS, Image Stabilizer

Opinion: I was lucky enough to get it in the Kit, and it was a real luck in fact for many the lenses put in the various kits are of "dubious workmanship" instead with the 18-55 the thing was different It's almost as if Fujifilm wanted to make a statement from the beginning in an attempt to start its new X Series customers on the right foot. The XF 18-55mm has received a lot of praise over the years.
