Opinion: This is an excellent fish-eye lens! This is one of the widest lenses for full frame in the world, regardless of cost. It produces punchy, contrasty sharp images. Although other fish-eye lenses offer a 180 degree diagonal view, this offers a wider view on the horizontal and vertical axis. Distortion not as pronounced as with canon fish-eye lenses as it uses a different more subtle image projection. The manual focus is really not an issue. When focusing at close distance, you can easily detect the sharp focus by eye. When focusing at medium and far distances, just use the focus scale. Because this lens is so wide, the depth of field is huge, aiding a mis-focused shot quite a lot. It allows very creative shooting by exploiting the distortion typical of this type of lens by putting it off-axis with respect to the horizontal plane. The distortion is very low, although the angle is always 180°. So if you keep it in bubble it behaves almost like a straight super wide angle, if you tilt it the magic of the fisheye is born. It is quite sharp, perhaps a little less than the 8-15 L Canon that resists even better to backlight (hooray, it costs 3-4 times more). It has no autofocus but the dials are very fluid.
