Pros: Compact, produces good images

Cons: Colors, dynamic range, not very handy

Opinion: I bought this used machine for outings where weight is everything and for multipitch climbing. It is very convenient to keep in your pocket and take out if necessary in no time. The images can be beautiful with the right light conditions, I find them difficult to work in post otherwise (especially the greens). The biggest flaw is that I often keep it on my wrist and it is regular that the rings move (probably due to contact with the ropes or the rock) and change the shooting settings without me noticing. It also happens, more rarely, that it turns on/off. The zoom is a bit limiting, an equivalent up to 200 would have been much more versatile. However, all in all it is really a useful and light car, more than perfect for the kind of photos I want to get and not to see the phone fall into the void for hundreds of meters as has already happened to several friends ...

Pros: Lightweight, versatile, compact. Good image quality, manual settings, bright lens.

Cons: Suffering exceeded 800 ISO, screen not visible on very bright days.

Opinion: I have used the RX100 for 7 years in every condition and for every type of photo: landscape photos, portraits, street photography, travel photos, interior photos, family event photos. I used little the video section, but it is not a suitable camera for this purpose. The lens is very bright, especially at short focal lengths (f. 1.8 / 4.9) and the 1" sensor returns an image quality much higher than traditional compacts (certainly not equal to modern aps-c or full frame sensors). The focal length from 10.4mm to 37.1mm corresponds approximately to a 28-100mm lens in fullframe (about an 18-70mm in aps-c), that is, a lens that allows you to do everything that an amateur photographer likes to do. The versatility of the camera also allows you to make reportages. Let's remember that it is the eye of the photographer to shoot, the device is only the tool (at least until artificial intelligence will not establish itself in this field too). The shorter focal lengths correspond to a wide angle ideal for landscape photos, monuments, groups of people, themselves, for some unpretentious interior photos, in short, enough and advances for photos on vacation, family and Sunday. At medium focal lengths we get good photos of details, portraits set or portraits in the foreground. The color of the ingrown is good and the distortion acceptable (however well corrected by the machine in jpeg format). At long focal lengths we have a valid telephoto lens, with optical zoom of 3.6x, which allows distance photography, nature and detail. The minimum focusing distance is 5cm so it is possible to take good close-up shots (I photographed flowers, insects etc. with good satisfaction). The sensor suffers in low light conditions, and noise becomes noticeable from ISO 1600 upwards. I haven't tried astrophotography, so I can't say for that. This camera allows you to shoot in manual mode, with aperture priority, with time priority, automatically and with pre-set parameters (landscape photos, portraits, sunsets, etc.). It gives satisfaction in any case: it reads the light values well and correctly chooses the shutter values. In manual you can set the focal aperture (from 1.8f to 11f), the shutter speed (from infinity to 1/2000), the ISO parameters (from 80 to 6400) and the white balance. In priority modes, the exposure value (-3 +3 EV) can also be changed. You can manually change the brightness, contrast, and saturation parameters of the image. You can add a dominant color from the menu. The settings allow us to choose whether to shoot in RAW, in RAW + jpeg (in case it takes the same photo in the two different formats) or in RAW only. This gives us the opportunity to intervene on the image in post-production. Sony offers a free version of the photo editing software CaptureOne that allows us to correct the shots. What is described makes it clear that the Sony RX100 is suitable for Sunday photographers who want image quality superior to compact, it is ideal for those who want to approach the world of professional photography, it is useful as a second camera for professionals who want a camera to keep in their pocket if necessary. To conclude. I loved the RX100. I preferred it to a reflex for its lightness and versatility. In addition, I wanted to start from here to approach photography in manual mode. I used it everywhere and for any purpose. Given the size and the good build quality, I brought it and I always carry it with me. Good autofocus, good "point and shoot" mode, good shooting speed, good images in Jpeg. It's a camera I'll never sell and highly recommend it to those who want to start taking pictures at an advanced level.

Pros: Portability, lens, general image rendering

Cons: Lack of viewfinder, no wi-fi

Opinion: Purchased second-hand a year ago, it replaced the excellent G1X mII in accompanying me on the "rides" on the bike and for a few shots in the city. The autofocus is suitable for general and non-demanding use and the performance of the lens/sensor combination is definitely good. Shooting mainly in RAW I am used to giving a "fix" to the photographs in post, so any inaccuracies in white balance, especially in the shadows, do not worry me too much. The lack of the viewfinder is felt only on certain occasions, against the light for example, for the rest nothing to say. On the advice of a friend I added a rubber grip on the right side that greatly facilitates manageability. As a practicality of use it took the place of the Minox 35 that I used (and sometimes I still use) in the analog world. For me it remains a valid purchase even today.

Pros: Small footprint, objective brightness

Cons: Excessive cost if bought just exit, lack of sight, difficult to handle.

Opinion: I bought it at a big discount, adjusted by the price for the 1" sensor. I have never had any feeling with this machine mainly for colors, which I never liked, and then because it is not at all practical for the small size and it seems that I want to get out of hand. I felt better with panasonic bridge (colors and resolution). Too bad.

Pros: Versatility of use

Cons: Un-ready files with strong greenish dominant

Opinion: I took it on the Amazon. What to say: very useful and very small that, for those who take pictures in the street like me, is the best you can ask for. It is clear that you can not access all the controls with speed and without running the risk of resetting something, given the size, but the rear ring can conveniently allow access to all the main controls. The compensation of the exposure is very convenient. So many functions (I can think of the electronic horizon) for this small that not last quality, produces excellent RAW unfortunately with a balance of questionable white. Files under certain light conditions suffer from a strange white balance
