Pros: Size, internal zoom, quality

Cons: nothing, perhaps the exterior paint that gets ruined quickly

Opinion: After this version two more came out but I don't intend to change it because I'm afraid of losing that particular rendering that I can't describe, soft, particular colors but at the same time very sharp. I don't know, I just like it. I think it's the top for portraiture. Its size makes it a symbol of the micro 4/3, I was also attracted to the big brother Oly but the dimensions are really different, another thing, certainly more suitable for birdlife and sports. Always use it wide open by flicking the guaranteed depth of field of the micro 4/3 you never have out-of-focus portraits.

Pros: weight, dimensions, build quality , af ,

Cons: Maybe just the lens hood which aesthetically is not beautiful

Opinion: A lens that makes you wonder why the whole m4/3 world has not been designed with the exact same criteria. I don't understand why make a version 2 without any improvement and above all make it go out of production almost immediately. In my opinion Pana should have pushed everything on this line of lenses on all focal lengths. Since I joined m43 I have changed many lenses and cameras but this one I can never find a valid reason to give it up and update it. I often want to switch to the Olympus 40-150 which is a lens out of all logic, extraordinary, but honestly when I compare weights and dimensions I get through every idea. This 35-100 in practice you always carry it with you even in a shoulder bag and the performance is spectacular, I do not find defects of any kind. The only small drawback I see is in the lens hood, a "cheap" in terms of aesthetics not so much in terms of materials or functionality, but it is a really more than negligible defect. It has a very soft rendering while maintaining really high definition and detail, suitable for everything from portrait to landscape and in any case I repeat its strength is the form factor.

Pros: Compact size, does not stretch, balanced weight, colors, internal stabilization

Cons: Lack of key or other mode to switch from AF to MF, some parts of the barrel are plastic

Opinion: Among the Pro lenses in my kit (Zuiko and PanaLeica that I have or have owned) this is the best. Weight, size, colors. The blur is also excellent. Too bad it doesn't have a button on the barrel like the PanaLeica 12-60, or an alternative mode like the Zuiko 12-40, to switch from AF to MF without having to enter the camera settings. It is a half-all-rounder, ranging from the portrait set to the medium canvases, only the wide part is missing. It is also great for street if you are looking for details in the city and great for portraits. I took this first version because found on offer, and from the various reviews, almost nothing changes from the mkii (the latter seems to have an extra degree of tropicalization) if not the color (the mkii is undoubtedly more appealing than the first version). Great for family trips like Playground, or hiking in the mountains where you do not need to do birdlife and do not need mm more. If they made a 35-150mm with these qualities and the same dimensions (even if a little bigger) I don't think I would change it, because for me this focal range is perfect in this lens. For more mm I would rely on lenses designed for specific uses such as the 100-300 or the 100-400. It is certainly among the objectives considered "essence of micro 4/3".

Pros: Very high quality, both optical and mechanical

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: I have been using this objective for several years with great satisfaction. As others have said, I consider it the true essence of micro 4/3. It has a spectacular yield in 10 cm in length and about 350 grams, at all diaphragms, the autofocus is very fast and the stabilizer extremely effective, the blurry is pleasant, almost on par with the equivalent fixed focals. And Sorry it's not much.

Pros: The true essence of m4 / 3

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: If you had to ask me which optics more than any other has appreciated of this system the answer would be obvious: Panasonic 35-100 2.8. 10cm 350gr 70-200eq f2.8 fixed (pdc double rapportata to FF) stabilized tropicalized blurred wonderful AF precise fast and quiet I have to say anything else? I use it both for portraits and in landscaping and it never disappoints. Mounted on oly EM1 it behaves very well perfectly balanced and imposed the priority on the stabilization of the lens that in particular from 80mm up a wire works better than that of the camera body. If I had to find a defect I would say the wheeled ferrule, comfortable when it's cold since it does not become icy like the one in metal oly, but also catches a lot of dust. Also my sample is perfect but I have seen several ruined on the barrel in the lower part or discolored so I think they are delicate from this point of view. That said to find something wrong I had to commit, the 35-100 2.8 100% embodies the philosophy of m4 / 3 and takes the system on another level with regard to weight and size. I advisewithout reserve it will never disappoint you. At the moment it is a fixed pair with the 8-18 panale and they form a deadly combination.
