Pros: Today nothing

Cons: Weight, sharpness, crazy price

Opinion: It's nice to see the lack of contrast and poor sharpness defined as "poetic". With a modern 85 or even with an 85 from many years ago, both Nikon, Canon and Pentax you have sharpness and contrast, which can be, if desired, decreased in PP or with special filters. The opposite is not possible. Even the Soviet, again from Zeiss schemes, 85/2, is better in every respect. The weight makes it uncomfortable to use freehand, it is no coincidence that the tripod mount is provided. I find no reason to buy it, not even at a lower price than the current one which is justified only by the presence of a considerable number of chickens. Many years ago I bought it, at a decent price, then resold it to replace it with the 85/2, which was also later replaced by the Pentax 85/1.4.

Pros: Blurred (bokeh), bright, rings, balanced weight, unique rendering, romantic poet results. M42 and also M39 connection. It's not autofocus

Cons: It's not autofocus

Opinion: One of the best lenses I've ever used, nothing to do with other 85 mm lenses with super sharp and cold rendering. The detachment of the floors has nothing to do with the siblings. Here the photos come out well, if you are able to use the rings, and they have a poetic "rendering": you will not find it with any other lens. It has the advantage that it can be used on many camera bodies with adapters. The limit of the lens is always in the photographer who uses it. Excellent performance in the center and not bad even at the edges, just close one or two stops (for the edges). It has nothing to envy to the new lenses and in any case it always depends on the results you want to obtain. Detachment of the planes and excellent three-dimensionality. Unique bokeh: the main subject will be truly enhanced. Personally, for portraits it is one of the best lenses ever tried. Suitable for thoughtful and unique photos that stand out from the crowd. You will also find imbeciles who say otherwise just to look very cool, which is quite common in photography. The best thing: try it. Everything else is boredom

Pros: Blurred, poetic rendering, swirl bokeh

Cons: Soft on the sides, very heavy, overcharged

Opinion: Optic overvalues, it is sold for over € 400 but it is not worth them, it makes no sense: soft, especially at the edges. Heavy, it makes it very difficult to balance it on ML bodies and makes it harder to focus. It's a portrait lens, but if the subject's face is at the edge it's not easy even with viewfinder zoom if you're in focus. The colors, the blur and the swirl effect are beautiful but I prefer the 44-4 kitchen: colors and swirl are even better, much more manageable, it costs a tenth.

Pros: Extremely easy maintenance, spectacular bokeh, with aperture at f1.5 is extremely bright

Cons: Manual focus is not suitable for moving shots

Opinion: Mine is a prototype of the 58/59 with a triple zero serial number so not one of the versions "for ordinary people" assembled after the early 60s nor one of the new Helios 40. Obviously its characteristic feature is the bokeh that seems to make a vortex around the subject in focus, for the rest the contrast is quite good for the coatings of the time and the lens is very sharp. I shoot on a 5DMkIII with two adapters, M39>M42 and M42>EOS so the accuracy of the focus is not the best but with a few days of practice you already get good results! Soon I will also put some shots for completeness!

Pros: swirly bokeh amazing, brightness

Cons: perhaps a little heavy

Opinion: I bought this lens directly from the Helios website two weeks ago and the only thing I can say is that it makes the bokeh point across, that "swirly" which I love. I 'a little heavy, but I can handle it on my Canon60D best of 50mm, for me the best balance when shooting. I used it for classic photos of flowers and a wedding last Saturday, (portraits and details) and I was not disappointed at all. Perhaps it is a little "hard" but nothing you can not fix in PP. Made only manual focus, but it is not a problem. I'm so happy, I would absolutely recommend!
