Pros: Sharpness, now in 2025 also the price

Cons: Manual focus, weight, no stabilizer if ever it should be indispensable

Opinion: I have had this optical jewel for about fifteen years now. It is not as comfortable as a current zoom but the feeling of pleasure when using it is unparalleled. Manual focus means thoughtful photos and not bursts of frames that will be trashed. It weighs but you know that it is all the weight of quality. Or even the corresponding contax that I put in my backpack if I want to halve the weight, but this one does not have the resolution of the updated big brother. What can I say, it is a timeless lens and in my opinion not surpassed by modern mirrorless lenses, with autofocus and perhaps stabilized but with an exaggerated vignetting common to all lenses built for ML. Contained distortion makes this optical scheme one of its advantages. If you want to carry its weight it will pay off with beautiful images and deserves to always be accompanied by a good trap.

Pros: I reiterate the characteristics already highlighted in the previous reviews to which I would add another important one for me, given the field of use in which I use it as a priority: the resolution and contrast, of a very high level, are maintained from infinity to the minimum distance of m.a.f.

Cons: In some cases it shows an unpleasant color shift. Of course, even the "mushroom" shape does not make it properly manageable.

Opinion: At the time of analog I used the original version, for contax. I think it was unrivaled with a quality, for the time, extraordinary. When I then switched to digital I bought the model for canon ef. I use it mainly for birdlife where it guarantees, at short and very short distances, excellent quality. Sometimes the shape in placing it in somewhat narrow contexts creates some difficulty for me. Overall, a successful perspective that I believe corresponds to my expectations.

Pros: beautiful, precise, micro-tempered, colors, use, superior construction.

Cons: no tropicalization

Opinion: I found it used at a super price. I had quite a few doubts that it was full-manual. in reality the ZF2 attack allows the passage of data to the camera body and therefore it is possible to take advantage of the focus ball that helps and not a little. the manual focus has a really high precision and the ring can be rotated and fixed with ease. needless to dwell on the fact that it is an object done well. because it really is. comparing with the 20nikon (which is a slow lady) is just another thing. someone complains about the caps that it is true that for such an object (new - the new release - it costs 1500euro) they should perhaps be more cared for, but I find them in line with all the others. not to make comparisons, those of sigma art are of the same strength. the metal hood with velvet is libidinous. too bad for the tropicalization that for a landscape lens perhaps should be mandatory by constitution. the weight is what it is, definitely not low. 600gr are not few but it is well balanced and with the excellent handle it does not feel almost. (continuing the comparison, the nikon are 350gr, but very plastic) I really like it so much, I think I will sell the 20nikon, although, I repeat, it is a great lens and brighter.

Pros: Construction, sharpness, focus ring, cost if used, the pleasure it transmits you in using it!

Cons: Flare and ghost, I don't know what it depends on, but on nikon z6 in the backlight my specimen is inusable

Opinion: I do not dwell on the pros already listed by the other users where I found confirmation (build quality, sharpness, micro contrast, colors, using it is a real pleasure!). Small big mole there is my specimen on the nikon z6 with ftz adapter, in backlight it is inusable, ghost and flare present intrusively to all the diaphragms, make the shots completely inusable and to be binned (if you do not believe me you see the topic I opened), I do not know if it is the fault of the ftz, in any case it is the first time that I have to bin shots because of the lens , which never happened with nikon 20 afs 1.8g, nikon 18-35 af-s g and nikon 14-30s f4 and rarely with samyang 14mm 2.8. First adventure in Zeiss, first disappointment. Then all the other pros are there and make it a superb lens for all those non-backlight shots! (seeing other reviews online if even in a less marked way than my specimen, flare and above all ghost there is, I do not understand how no one noticed and emphasized the problem) excellent lens but far from being the perfection they say, defects also he has just understand them and know how to overcome them, then he should not defend himself with a sword because he is a Zeiss

Pros: Colors, smooth and soft dial, minimum focus distance, performance price ratio if taken used

Cons: Full-opening vignette

Opinion: Taken at a ridiculous price - compared to the average - and mounted on the Nikon D750 gives huge satisfactions. The colors are fantastic, especially they maintain natural brightness and do not knead. The manual focus is not a problem because it is used almost exclusively for landscapes from f8 to f11 it focuses smoothly with a wide-angle focal. Fluid, lustful, precise. The vignette is there at TA but it is irrelevant, when it bothers you will rise with a click with any post-production program. Don't miss, if you find one.
