Opinion: It was back in 2018 when I made the transition from the SLT A58 APS-C to full-frame mirrorless. I have loved it since day 1 and I have always found it revolutionary for its characteristics. Sony's complex menus to date are a sore point and that in this camera body made me tribulate taking several months to learn and memorize all the settings, but the fact of having multiple profiles for the customization options of photographic styles is fantastic. Compared to the current RV, A1II and 9III the AF is ridiculous and primitive, but it was a great innovation even without AI and I have always been happy with it even in birdlife (6/10 shots had the subject well in focus). Single AF, on the other hand, has always had problems with locking and delay. Given the 43mpx at high ISO it suffered quite a bit (as a RIV and RV owner the RIII given the 43 mpx against 61 held better), even if coupling it with the 24GM for astrophotography I have always obtained very balanced and impactful results having an impressive dynamic range. The battery in stress test situations always arrived at the end of the day with at least 10% remaining. Speaking of ergonomics, shape and weight I found myself in it immediately, except for the little finger having big hands I would have preferred more grip. Drawing conclusions, it is a machine that I have exploited to the bone, in all weather conditions, from the street when I lived in Canada to the landscape, asto and fauna. If the right opportunity came my way, I would buy it again as a third camera body to keep for fun

Decent travel companion: With the 24-105 G, the 50 2.5G and the voigtlander Heliar 15 I meet 90% of my photographic needs, The battery lasts long enough and the operating speed is sufficient. The menu is not as bad as many describe it, of course, abbreviations are sometimes very imaginative but not impossible. The quality of the files is really excellent, with a very interesting recovery in the shadows for an MPx. The 42MPx are a good compromise between detail, dynamic range and noise. Probably in a few years they will be able to do better, indeed, already today post software allows (almost) miracles, but this device manages very well to have its say and keep up with the times. For the video I don't know, I don't use it. Would I buy it again? Well, if I find a body at an interesting price I would take it immediately, I mount the voigtlander permanently and I'm good to go.

Opinion: I came from a d810 and I was looking for a camera that would give me the opportunity to range from landscape to naturalistic, so I decided to buy this model. I must say that expectations were high, especially since it was a Sony, a brand famous for the AF performance of its models. In this case, however, already after the first outings for naturalistic (especially birdlife) I realized that I had made a mistake. The AF is very slow, but the camera's operating times are even slower. The motion blur is always present and the evf does not work live but with a delay of at least one second. It is better if you use it on a tripod, from a shed, deactivating tracking and using only the af-c with the animal eye recognition function. Another weak point is the Iso. Above 3200 in low light conditions, an annoying chroma noise is produced. Sometimes even at low iso it produces noise. I would define it as a tripod camera, both for landscapes and for naturalistic. On the plus side, it has a great dynamic range that allows you to recover well by choosing the optimal exposure. Another positive aspect is the battery life, which is really good. In summary, I would say: EXCELLENT for landscapes, GOOD for naturalistic on static fauna, VERY BAD for birdlife.

All "modern" technological ammennicles do not interest me. Camera in my opinion built very well, solid and comfortable. It begins to have its years but has nothing to envy to the most modern evolutions, always talking about pure IQ. The generated file is of a crazy elasticity and allows things unthinkable for other cameras. Clearly the weight of the single raw uncompressed is not indifferent but these are things that are already known before buying such a machine. At the iso level I expected a little better, if you want you can pull the neck up to 6400 but we are at the limit in my opinion (and despite all the file remains maneuverable, which is unthinkable for my old apsc) but we are still talking about a very dense sensor. The menus are endless and obviously incomprehensible as per Sony tradition but once mastered you can sew the camera on you and after a long time, I am satisfied with the setting I found. I noticed great ease in generating shake, you have to be very careful. Speaking of the ibis I'm finding it really superfluous. I know that they are not the latest versions but from a first evolution, however, something I expected, instead nothing. Photo shakes at 2-300mm even with super safe times (1/500+) and here I refer to the speech of the shake of before. I really like the viewfinder and it is well readable, I started shooting again from the eyepiece that instead I had completely abandoned on the previous camera (I noticed there is an annoying bug with the switch automatically: sometimes it changes by itself even if there is nothing near the sensor, it is probably too sensitive). You have to get used to the output on the LCD and what is actually the photo on the PC because unlike the usual, the photos seem a bit 'dull on the screen (viewfinder already better), making a direct comparison in the field with Canon R5 the comparison is unequal, Canon in practice already makes you see the post-produced photo in a super saturated display while with this RIII on the field I have always remained a bit 'with doubt about The final result, which then at the PC there is all right. Needless to say, it must be associated with top-level optics. For now I'm having a great time and it perfectly reflects what I was looking for. Rating: 9.
