Opinion: I'm having my Sony A7II for 2 years now. In the first year the shutter was blocked. Today there is an issue with the SD card slot. I cannot insert a card anymore. I don't know such things from my Nikons. I don't think that the Sony A7II is superior to any other camera in that range, but you can get used to it. I have accepted that the auto white balancing is not correct. The focus peaking is not usable, when you want to set the focus precisely. When you press the shutter release, there is a significant delay. It takes some time until the camera is ready for the next exposure. The battery is light and small. The battery life is poor. Nevertheless I have had fun with the camera. With an adapter you can use a lot of lenses. I have used Olympus, Nikkor, Contax and Leica R lenses. Especially the combination with the Contax Zeiss lenses is great. My major concern is the build quality. I would not recommend this camera to buy it used. My next mirrorless camera will be a Nikon or a Canon.

Opinion: Bought in 2019 used but practically new and still under warranty. Coming from Sony A290 and A58, the image quality of an FF, even the "old" A7 II is really of another level. The pros: excellent image quality at low ISO, impressive shadow recovery capacity, the 5-axis IBIS stabilizes any lens including the old Minolta and Sony for A mount, compact and quality body, I really like the electronic viewfinder also because it allows functions (focus peaking, preview magnification, etc ..) that the optical viewfinder can not have. The cons: performance at high ISO lower than the competition (compared to Nikon d610 which also has the same sensor but also with the a7III), horrendous automatic color balance on jpg (turned to yellow in a reckless way, but so much is machine that for me it makes sense only using RAW files), old generation AF, the sensor gets dirty with nothing (just change the lens outdoors, even with all the possible precautions, and you immediately find new stains on the image), the battery lasts a little (for a whole day of photos a second battery is indispensable). Speech apart from the absurd price of Sony FE lenses, fortunately you can make a starting kit with some excellent A-attack lenses and with the Samyang. In summary: the Sony A7 II is a machine not free from defects and now in many ways obsolete but, at a cost (new or used) shredded, you take home a proper FF with which you can even take professional photos. Many do not like autofocus, but for amateur use the AF-C is more than good: it manages to keep moving subjects with precision in sufficient light conditions. The battery life is really poor but this is easily solved... The sony NP-FW50 batteries cost an eye, but I received a third-party one supplied with the used machine and it is quite good, so you do not need to spend so much. A serious flaw, in my opinion, is the electronic viewfinder: it appears very pixelated. The machine has no second SD slot nor electronic shutter, but these features are not indispensable for non-professional use like mine. In conclusion: if you are not a professional photographer, you do not need to spend an exorbitant amount to have quality images. This camera is my choice - after many searches on the internet - for handling, versatility and the type of photography I am interested in. I also advise you to buy it used, because the few new models left (it is no longer in production) cost almost as much as the next model, so it is not worth it.

Pros: FullFrame at an affordable price (about 1000€ currently); valid and sharp sensor with more than enough ISO seal (not excellent, but it is a 2014 machine) and good dynamic-range (always in relation to age); RAW rather malleable and with good chances of recovery on lights and shadows; stabilized sensor; compact and lightweight machine body; does not overheat; still compatible with Sony APPs; presence of some customizable buttons.

Cons: AF-S often inaccurate, especially when the light goes down; AF-C discreet in bright light but very poor indoors/dark; slow processor; ignition speed; gust; weak autonomy; EVF and display (not touch) just enough; JPG quality; the color rendering on the complexions does not satisfy me; FullHD 1080p video only; software and menus; slow USB output; single slot.

Opinion: Camera that can still give many satisfactions especially in the landscape (even at night, especially if you use the tripod) or still-life, or where you do not need a first-level autofocus. Where, on the other hand, the autofocus affects, for example on moving subjects (especially if indoors), the camera shows the side and many shots come out of focus. The color response is generally good, as well as the AWB: only the complexions do not fully satisfy me (but you can correct it with a little post). The stabilizer works very well, especially when coupled with a lens that is also stabilized. Unfortunately, we are still talking about a mirrorless camera from 2014, when this technology was still unripe. The autonomy is weak, the processor is slow (not very slow) as well as the speed of ignition. EVF and display are very weak (especially the EVF), the menu is the old one of Sony and the videos are only FullHD (quality, but between resolution and autofocus I would not recommend it to a videomaker). It should be noted, however, that it is the latest mirrorless of the A7 range to be compatible with Sony's APPs.
