Pros: Sharpness , definition, compactness, weight, versatility , ease of use, great AF

Cons: Haven't found any yet for a zoom of this class . Obviously it's not a prime ...but not too far

Opinion: Bought on recently as a "travel lens" with a A6000 body, with the hope to find something better that the combo Oly Em5 and Panasonic 14-140 II . It may very well be that I got an excellent copy , because I find no fault sharpness-wise wide open at all focal lengths . I find it better that the pana 14-140 , not by much but in between 18 and 26mm very clearly . The real 3/2 ratio makes it wider at 18 mm than the pana at equiv FL . Then we have an excellent compactness, with the A6000 it only takes 1 cm more in length than the m4/3 combo in a small camera bag . It's not weather sealed but for me it's a non issue . AF is excellent . The 18-135 focal range ( 27-202 FF equiv ) is what I needed for travel , don't need more, and with a 24 mp camera you can crop if necessary to 160mm with no real loss of IQ . I had searched thoroughly on the internet for a mirrorless 18-135 or 18-150 and it was clear that for me the Sony was the best . I'm not disappointed .

Pros: Impressive sharpness apart from 135, stabilized, focal range, very light

Cons: Starts from 18

Opinion: In my humble opinion I can say that it is one of those lenses that I never thought I could say I would be impressed. I bought it yesterday with a bit of doubts because I was not convinced but given the almost zero choice of apsc lenses for Sony in the end I bought it. Very beautiful. Very light, nice bokeh more than anything else because it has 45 cm of minimum distance at all distances. Many complain that it closes at f5.6 but find me a full frame 27-210 lens that reaches f4. The problem is with the cameras especially in video (I have the a6700) which only reaches 32000 ISO. Plus stuff not to be taken for granted is that it is a stabilized lens and trust me that you can see it. By now Sony has decided not to make them anymore but the difference compared to the sigma 10-18 that I have for example you see a lot. The sharpness is impressive apart from 135 but with 26 MP it brings out truly truly remarkable shots. I had the gmaster 16-35 f2.8 which gave me less satisfaction in terms of sharpness. The focus is not lightning fast but there unfortunately you have to take into account that on such a focal range you would need the linear motors that they now use on new zoom lenses such as Sony's 10-20 f4 and the like. That said, however, it is always fluid, pleasant and linear, it does not go back and forth to resume fire like those of third parties. The bokeh is nice, not like Tamron's which I personally suck, it's full of onion ring is unwatchable. This one is soft despite the 7 blades. What can I say? I really didn't expect it so I give it a grade of 9 because giving less would be really unfair

Pros: Light, compact, well built, stabilized, versatile, decently sharp, kit price, AF/MF lever on the barrel, excellent AF even in low light.

Cons: All those concerning lenses of this type: slight chromatic aberrations, low light, distortion and vignetting at 18mm (in JPEG the camera corrects everything automatically), flare in backlight and loss of sharpness at 18 and 135mm.

Opinion: Having put it to the test in different circumstances and weather conditions, I can say that, overall, my assessment of this lens is positive. Purchased as a kit with the a6400, this lens does its job without infamy and without praise. It is designed to satisfy people who want to have a focal range that can do a little bit of everything, especially when traveling, while still having a decent general quality. The homonyms of the other brands are definitely more expensive and/or heavy. However, I don't feel like recommending it at full price (about € 520), but about 450 for new and 330/350 for used. The sharpness is good from f/5.6 to go up over the entire frame, at full aperture it loses something especially at the extremes. I therefore recommend using it mainly during the day or in bright places if you don't want to go too high with the ISO. The construction is made of plastic, so it is very light, however it feels sturdy and well built to the touch. up to 35mm it practically does not extend and even at 135mm it still maintains a remarkable compactness even with the bad lens hood mounted on it. The internal stabilization is good, I shot handheld even with shutter speeds close to a second without obvious micro-blur. The autofocus is deadly even in low light conditions, thanks also to Sony's noble system, but it is incredible how even a wandering and unpredictable subject such as a dog or a child always manage to be in focus and sharp at the point detected by the sensor. I will not dwell further with various technicalities because it would come out as a book, so, in conclusion, I can say that if you don't know which lens to start with and you want to approach the world of photography with Sony APS-C, this lens is absolutely for you, despite its defects. Vote 9!

Pros: Sharpness, AF speed

Cons: It is still too early to say

Opinion: Arrived today well packed, I took a dozen test photos (at various focal lengths) and I was favorably impressed by the sharpness (at F8) and the speed of the autofocus. I'll update my review as the day doesn't allow outings but from what little I've seen I'm really amazed (PS. I had always snubbed Sony but I'm changing my mind). Update 16-10-2024: a great lens, like all lenses a bit dark it struggles slightly in the MAF but it does its job but when the light is good it is fantastic. Nice photos, so money well spent (in my opinion).

Pros: Sharpness, AF speed and precision, compactness, stabilized!

Cons: Read the opinion

Opinion: If we really have to find a con, the only thing that comes to mind is the aperture that closes immediately at 5.0-5.6, despite this there are no comparisons compared to the kit lens (also f/3.5-5.6), any shot is much sharper and brighter. Together with the alpha 5100, in my opinion, it is a winning combination: wide-angle camera body and equivalent 200mm telephoto that you can almost carry in your pocket (I can do it but I can understand that it may not fit everywhere). For this reason I was able to take her to several concerts and right here she gave me shots (and also shots) worthy of a top of the range. Watching them at home on the PC I was quite stunned both by the focus that missed very few shots in low light conditions, but it also made me bring home videos with a stability that I would never have expected (even here the AF was impeccable and fast). Only once I tried to bring a sigma (not tele) instead of this sony... The result was only 4 shots focused with the same light conditions, despite the fact that the Sigma has always performed very well in all other areas. Rated 10
