Pros: Great range. Not to big/heavy considering range. Effective stabilization. Capable of very nice photographs. 600mm can be very sharp with care. Quick autofocus

Cons: Tripod foot a bit to small. f6.3 (but this is why it is not 5 times the price). Not weather sealed

Opinion: At this price you have a choice between the sigma 150-600mm C or the Tamron 150-600mm. I chose the sigma simply because the dock may give better chance of being compatable with newer camera bodies going fwd. Picture wise I have been able to get very nice photos. I don't think the lens has any real flaw inside it's parameters. Even 600mm shots can be very sharp with good contrast @ f7.1- f8. Of course we'd all like if it was f4 or f2.8, but as a realistic option for the price I think it ticks all the boxes one could reasonably expect. It is not an inexpensive lens, but considering it's range it is very good value for money, autofocus is swift, range is great and it feels well built. If you need weather sealing this is not the lens for you. At time of this review I have only used this lens with a crop sensor Nikon d7200

Pros: Extremely versatile zoom range. Seems to have excellent build quality. Can produce nice sharp images. Nice color rendition. Lots of bells and whistles for the price with zoom lock, focus limiter, 2 OS modes, both focus ring and push/pull zoom actions and customizable with the sigma dock. Light weight for this type of lens with this type of build quality. Excellent for bird and wildlife photographers who are on a budget but still want a lens that can produce great images.

Cons: Can produce some CA and vignetting but this can be managed in PP. Zoom action of both ring and push pull is a bit stiff though this may loosed up a bit with time. Takes to many turns on the zoom ring to go from zoomed in to zoomed out which can add up to shots missed. Focus is a bit slow but I guess within reason for the native apertures involved and the extent of the zoom range. Like my Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 S when carried on a Black Rapid strap the way I do if the various switches are facing your legs it's to easy to knock those switches to a different setting that the one's you have set. Consider that when you accidently knock the focus limiter from 10 meter to infinity to 2.8-10meters and see a bird perched at 25 meters. Go to take the shot and the lens won't focus and by the time you change the focus limiter the subject has flown away.

Opinion: I bought this lens for my girlfriend but took it out for it's first "test drive" mounted on my Nikon D750. Was totally surprised by the quality of images when mounted on this camera body and no micro adjustments were needed to produce nicely sharp images of birds 10 to 30 meters away at least at aperture F8 and this includes inflight shots of birds. My main lens is the Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 Sport, which even with 1.4 and 2X TC's attached focuses faster, zooms faster, has very little or no CA in most shots and renders even more detail. But the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary is going to make one hell of a back up lens if needed. I have seen many images taken with the Sigma 150-600mm Sport and if your not worried about a couple of extra elements inside the lens and the full weather sealing, this contemporary version at about half the price and 1kg lighter looks like a winner. Really quite amazing value and quality for money from what I have seen so far.

Pros: Sharp, customizable, very well stabilized, the price in the second-hand

Cons: Short bracket, cheap lens cap

Opinion: Having been able to compare it to the tamron 150 600 VG 1 I can give my opinion on the difference between the two. Little... they are really very comparable... The Sigma has slightly more battered colors, a very small more definition, but very minimal. maybe 2% and it is noticeable only by enlarging the file by 20 times... while the tamrom is slightly brighter.. a half stop.. Both tried on a tripod, with the same parameters and self-timer, photographing a postcard with frayed edges... The autofocus instead at least in my 2 is better than the sigma .. but only slightly. but being customizable that of the sigma maybe you can do better... I don't know.. I don't have the Doc Station.. I find the stabilization phantastic... of both. I took a very sharp photo of the Postcard with 1/160 to 600 mm focal length. Now I have to decide which one to sell and it will be a very hard choice... The tamron on an aesthetic level is a little more refined. beauteously.. The front cap has a beautiful large silver writing, while that of the sigma in addition to a lowercase embossed writing, seems to have come out of AliExpress for 3 euros. And the Tamron has a better bracket at the construction level, with easier insertion, removal and in the stand seems to be more stable, being a couple of cm longer .. while the sigma has more options. an important one is the Focus MO option which allows you to focus even by hand while there is active autofocus. You can also do this with the Tamron. but every now and then you hear a rubbing noise if you do it. with the sigma no.. and the others the customization of the focus, the stabilization and the focus distance. Of course with PC and DOC Station.. You can both find from 550 to 650 euros. and it is a good figure for the quality they offer. Tried on R8 and they both work perfectly and don't pulsate in vacuum focus in servo focus. They're not as fast as in One Shot. but generally out of 10 rows in burst at least 7 are in focus, sometimes even all 10 for both lenses... They cost about the same amount and are actually very similar. The sigma of the Tamron might seem more contrasted. but in my opinion it's a matter of brightness .. The Tamron is slightly brighter. And therefore the sigma could seem more contrasty. but I don't think it is... not from my trials. One thing I noticed is that it has a slight greater depth of field than the Tamron at the same aperture of course.. I pulled out about the same details from the tests. In the sigmoid I had the idea that frayed edge hairs... finer hair.. were slightly better noticed.. but it is really an unappreciable difference on the global shot of the photograph... Whichever of the 2 you choose, you have chosen well. Then clearly there could be some specimens that differ more. not my two...

Pros: Price, quality, weight ratio

Cons: None if you are aware of what you are buying

Opinion: I come from a tamron 70 300 and an ef 100 400 first series so my review is based on my previous experience. Before buying it I read many reviews about this lens, I read about poor sharpness at long focal lengths and problems related to auto focus especially pulsing effects related to the canon r6 mk2. Surely, looking at many photos taken with high-end lenses you can't expect the same performance but this Sigma amazed me. With Canon r6 mk2 no problem in front of back focus and once I adjusted the focus speed on the camera the Sigma did not miss a beat, keeping in focus, if not too far away, passerines and medium-sized animals. If at the right distance, you get remarkable sharpness even at the widest apertures while keeping the lens always bright. If found used and you want to approach birdlife, this Sigma gives great satisfaction with a very low expense compared to high-end lenses. P.S.: if anyone has doubts about the performance in combination with the r6 (it was a doubt that I had been trying to clarify for some time) I can assure you that together they are a high precision shotgun! Pros: Sharpness at all apertures

Cons: Slightly slow AF

Opinion: I use it with satisfaction, almost always at maximum focal length and often at full aperture. I find it razor-sharp even at 600mm. on Canon full frame. Quite light, I always use it freehand. The AF sometimes struggles when the focus range is too long, but if you preset it at a given point it's very fast. It still holds up well with the 1.4 multiplier. I was on the fence with his similar tamron but in the end I'm glad I chose him.
