Pros: This lens gives very unique images. The model comes out extremely sharp and the background is blurred in the most spectacular butter-smooth manner. I absolutely love the distance it gives me to the model outdoor (I shoot many full body length images). Much easier and nicer to communicate with the model than when I use 135mm lens. It is just a PERFECT lens. It is.

Cons: The finish is a bit too glossy / slippery. I would prefer a bit more texture to hold it comfortably in hand.

Opinion: As a portrait lens, I think this is lens is spectacular. I used this lens on a recent Sony (2023) body and it was absolutely the best ever handling experience. I am now using Fuji apsc bodies - but I will move over to Sony / Sigma as soon as I can afford it. I just hope Sigma will make an updated version of this lens - hopefully with an aperture ring (I prefer using a ring on the lens to the camera's command dial for aperture). I did not find the lens too heavy - many photographers say it is. But I actually like the weight as it was - especially that Sony bodies are quite light.

Pros: Very sharp, fast,superb colours.

Cons: Knew it was heavy, so I was not surprised; it does take some getting used to though. Hood very large, but essential

Opinion: Overall, I am delighted with the lens; I found that it was better as a two lens kit- Sigma 24-35 F2 Art, and the Sigma 105 F1.4 art, on the Nikon D3- unbeatable combination ! At present I use the subject lens for all subjects, although I think it was primarily intended for studio and people. I have had the odd raised eyebrow, but i have always used my camera and specific lenses for all types of work; Once you have got used to the weight, it becomes second nature.

Pros: The bokeh of this lens is impressive, it is the master bokeh, sharpness already at f1.4 if I close to f1.8 it becomes a blade, AF speed, robustness of the materials and their quality: it is a lens that lasts in short

Cons: Maybe the weight and size? But it's all glass. Ah, difficult to carry it in a backpack, as it is abnormal and difficult to store in one of the latter.

Opinion: It's one of my best lenses, I've had it for two years, I've had it out of order for about 6 months (due to a breakdown at a party, I got liquid from a cocktail and the focus was ruined) and I missed it and not a little, the bokeh and sharpness of this lens are amazing, indeed, to scream! It makes you gasp. One of the dream lenses for a portraitist and die-hard of blur in his portraits, I tried the 85mm a bit but when you try this one I'm sorry the other fixed lenses are toys, a robustness and materials of excellent workmanship, like all the Art series on the other hand, a photographic quality and engraving of details, textures etc. truly stunning, I've been using it for years, almost more than two and it has never disappointed me, it's a magical lens, it gives you fairytale portraits, a poetic blur and creates an incredible texture behind the subject. I think we can't add more about this beast, the cost? It is obviously made of glass and the 1200€ / 1400€ it costs is worth it all. Obviously I used it initially on my 5DMark IV and now on my Canon 1DX Mark II and every tadpole I use really gives me satisfaction.

Pros: Sharpness, bokeh, AF/speed, focal length, construction, materials used

Cons: Weight, Dimensions*, Huge Lens Hood, Filter Diameter

Opinion: Focal length that I prefer over the 85mm and 135mm (although I will miss both). Bokeh that detaches the planes in an absurd way! Really soft and creamy! Lightning-fast AF!! Sharpness of course is already magnificent at TA, and if you close it becomes extremely sharp. Weight and size are the weak points, but you know how it works with ARTs; More than the length is the width. Fitting the filter is a must given the huge front glass but it comes at a cost. The lens hood is really big and chunky. The use of the lens is limited by weight and size! The only alternative I know (for Canon) is the 100mm f2, alas

Pros: Stratospheric sharpness already at 1.4, beautiful bokeh, three-dimensionality and detachment of planes

Cons: Weight & Size

Opinion: It's worth its weight in gold. And it weighs, damn if it weighs. And that's huge for a 105, with pitch filters of the same size. Difficult to carry around, if not inside his bag. Give the gift of magical shots and dreamlike portraits. It's probably the best lens I have (and I have several). I've used it on many Nikon SLRs (D800-810-850, D4, D5) and now on Z9: it's very fast in Af, and even very fast (even faster than some Nikon F lenses...) in locking on to the human eye. The transition from F-bodies to Z-bodies (with FtZ) has even benefited him. A must, for portraiture, if you are not afraid of weight and size.
