Opinion: I bought this lens, to replace the Sigma Art 35mm f1.4 (great lens, but not compatible at 100x100 with my Lumix S1R, the focus motor flickered, so the ratings sometimes came out of focus). The lens on the camera is as perfect as its sisters, the color and image rendition is perfect, the image rendition is really sharp. Almost at the levels of the Sigma 35 it replaced. I also use the Lumix s 85mm f1.8 lens, both of which have a beautiful bokeh effect. I recommend both lenses.

Pros: Dimensions, light, sharp, bright, bokeh, 67mm filters, great build quality, even if the material is a bit plasticky.

Cons: Price (high for a 35 1.8 but in line with Panasonic fixed lenses), it is not possible to use the focus ring with the lens hood inserted towards the camera.

Opinion: Honestly I don't understand why the rating of the 35mm is lower than the other Panasonic fixed lenses, I find it a splendid lens. 35mm razor-sharp already at 1.8 which, thanks also to the excellent focusing speed, makes it probably the most versatile fixed of the entire L mount lenses, potentially the only one you could ever need under 85mm. Given the price I would have preferred a few more controls on the barrel, maybe an aperture ring or a customizable button, instead I have to settle for an AF/MF button and the focus ring (be careful, it becomes unusable with the lens hood facing the camera, so in the outputs you either use it outwards or don't bring it at all!) In general, however, I don't feel like giving a grade lower than 9
