Pros: Size, responsiveness and usability.

Cons: software castration, autonomy in video and bursts with Electronic Shutter.

Opinion: It represents my first purchase after 18 years of using the same reflex kit, I don't like to chase consumer technology, especially in the photographic world where the final result is guaranteed by other factors. I waited more than six months before reviewing this product, chosen for several reasons: 1. I was intrigued by the performance of the M43, and by the computational functions offered by the system (of which I had a small preview from the Tought TG-5). 2. Size and aesthetics, for some years I have been photographing only when traveling, or taking photos of offspring. 3. Optical park, truly unparalleled quality in relation to size. Bought in kit with the Oly pancake taking advantage of the various recent promotions, pancake immediately traded in for an Oly 12-40 f2.8 to which I added a PanaLeica 100-400 recently, with the idea of completing the kit with a fixed light < 12mm and one between 50 and 90mm. With the pancake he fit into the pocket of a jacket. I am very satisfied with this machine, it is responsive, the tiltable display is robust and functional, the menus are easy to use, the keys and dials too, the "shortcut" button and the profile selector (customizable, both monochrome and color) are very convenient. The construction is not metal, it is not "tropicalized", but it seems sturdy and solid, I used it under a light drizzle (body and lens were wet) at 2-3 degrees and I had no problem. The stabilizer is excellent. The IQ is very good, in real situations that are not easy, I go without fear up to 1600 ISO, in "controlled" situations I have seen good results even at much higher sensitivities. The PC is my main work tool, so I don't want to turn it back on and spend more hours post-producing the photos, with the PEN EP-7 I found a good compromise by shooting in RAW (with all neutral parameters) and generating, with a minimum of "post production", the Jpegs in the camera, immediately shareable via APP Oi Share (it also works very well for remote control of the camera). The options for editing RAW in the camera are many, you can apply, of course, all the "artistic" filters that can also be used during shooting, you can adjust shadows, midtones, lights, individual colors etc ... And here we come to the first sore point, I would have liked to have had the ability to apply free crops to the photos, with also rotation on the horizontal axis. The other sw "castrations" concern the absence of focus stacking with camera merge (there is, however, an "Image Overlay" function that allows you to merge up to 3 raw lenses in the camera), the dual IS and the non-compatibility with the customizable function buttons of the lenses, even with the Olympus PRO ones. I would also have liked the Hi Res shot. The battery life is very good, I can't quantify it but I would say that at least 400 photos I can take, it collapses too quickly, however, when shooting videos in 4k and when you make bursts with the electronic shutter, for me it is a non-problem, since I only take photos, but I report it for different users. I am satisfied with the purchase, I have rediscovered the pleasure of photographing by carrying a camera around. The added value, for me, is represented by the possibility of bypassing the PC, I now use it only for archiving.

Pros: Super compact, operating speed, stabilization, high file quality and super fun

Cons: The viewfinder is missing but you already know before buying it, it lacks af / mf selector

Opinion: Taken on a whim not to always carry the most bulky G9 with me, since then it is always in my pockets combined with the 15mm panaleica or the 12-45 f4 even if with this a little unbalanced but you are rewarded by the photographic yield. Instead of the profile selector I would have preferred the selector to change from af to mf. It is a very fun machine because being always in my pockets I always want to use it, some operations are slightly cumbersome because you have to enter the menu and there are no dedicated keys even if 2 keys are customizable. Very intelligent olympus system because when you switch to a color profile (fully customizable profiles) the machine automatically takes a jpeg and a raw without having to set anything so you have the double file. Stabilized very well allows rather long shots even by hand. The display is good but does not work miracles and under the beating sun you go into difficulty, on these occasions you feel the lack of the viewfinder but this you know before buying it. I am very satisfied even if the price from new was a thread too high in my opinion and now that it is out of production the price of used has also risen.

Pros: Size, stabilization, yield, operating speed, immediacy

Cons: No viewfinder, compatibility problems between ORF files and old versions of photoshop, had tropicalized, WB to be set manually, obviously it is out of production

Opinion: I had the curiosity towards the micro four thirds for some time and I satisfied it with this car, bought by chance at the end of 2022. And I do not regret it, with this object you can photograph without anyone noticing it in unthinkable conditions with a full frame. I really like the touch screen and the ability to focus and shoot with a touch, I like the quick menu, I like the fact that the camera just turned on is immediately ready: or at least activate faster than a mirrorless full frame. the AF is quite good even in critical conditions, but above all it is the stabilization that is exceptional, which allows you to "squeeze" a good image quality from such a small format. Contrary to what I read, the white balance is certainly better set manually: automatically it tends to do a little what it wants. Unfortunately at Olympus, unlike other Houses, they have decided that the ORF, or the native Raw, of the machines made from 2018/2019 onwards do not have to have the same compatibility with the old editions of photoshop. Not bad, sooner or later I will equip myself with Lightroom. I conclude by saying that on sunny days the absence of a separate viewfinder as on the Pen-F feels, especially if you wear sunglasses with polarized lenses. Obviously this gem is also out of production and it's a shame: all the other remaining models, not just Olympus, are less compact and light.

Pros: Aesthetics, construction, compactness, WB, functionality, 20mpxl sensor, ibis.

Cons: no viewfinder.

Opinion: I have for almost a year the e-p7, bought used second-hand, I must say that so far I am satisfied with the use I have made of it; taken as a second body for trips out of town and trips, it proved to be very convenient for taking photos in urban environments or occasional streets where maybe you want to be more discreet and light; Its ideal combinations are pancake lenses, preferably bright. Starting then to list pros and cons the first merit that you notice is the build quality, it is certainly not a box and is built well, also adding the tiltable display more solid than the articulated one; So in the size of a compact there is a camera with interchangeable lenses, where among other things the Olympus / OM System technicians have managed to insert not only every ring and button necessary but also a useful pop-up flash! As for the electronic / software aspect, a feature in its favor is the WB that never fails, while among the features - accessible via ring - there are the various live composite, focus bracketing, multiple esp, hdr in the room, panorama function; the negative aspect that immediately catches the eye is the lack of both the viewfinder and the predisposition so if you are not like me that I shoot almost always from the display I do not recommend it, also do not wait for miracles at high ISO, now we all know what are the strengths and weaknesses of an M43, but it should also be noted that I almost never use them, Thanks to the 5-axis stabilizer, phenomenal like all Olympus Ibis and in any case the 20 MPXL sensor is already a step forward. Finally, for those who shoot in jpeg there is the convenient selector in front to switch to the BN in the room or other features such as color filter, vignetting in the room, film grain etc etc .. In conclusion - having listed build quality and electronics - I dare to say that aesthetically it is one of the most beautiful Olympus ever, an interchangeable lens camera that you can literally put in your pocket.

Pros: Aesthetically fabulous, handy, full of interesting features, Lack of viewfinder (!)

Cons: No viewfinder (!), shared sd slot with battery

Opinion: I have used the EP7 on several occasions, a particularly important one concerning a project shared with Olympus itself and I have always been enthusiastic about it. It is a camera, in full PEN philosophy, which is aimed not at the traditional photographer but at new generations accustomed to the "tip and chlick" who are looking for a modern, beautiful and powerful product to use with "lightness". the lack of the viewfinder, so criticized is at the same time a point of advantage and disadvantage of the small PEN because it forces its use in the specific mofalità wanted by its creators: it leaves no alternative. if you don't like this, bet on the E-M10 mark 4 which has the viewfinder and the same features (BN selector apart which is cool!!). QUality of the image excellent, good Af and many creative functions. ideal for small and light kits, with compact lenses. You pay for the design and refinement of the object and in my opinion the price is worth the ticket. I can't wait to own one of my own.
