Opinion: Having owned my Nikon Z6 since its arrival back in 2018, I continue to marvel and appreciate the many positives of this camera for my needs. It's lightweight, the colors are gorgeous and I really appreciate its low light capabilities at slower shutter speeds while hand held. A large part of that is also due to the IBIS in the camera, versus my ability to hold the camera fairly still when needed. The 24.5 megapixels is adequate for my needs and is another reason for the good low-light photography. My main purpose for this camera is primarily for landscape, portrait, still life, etc., photography. There have been two small weddings I did photography for and although I am not a professional wedding photographer, both the new married couple and I were very happy with the images produced from the wedding. I have never used or tried the video features. It is a quiet camera when it needs to be, like when I am shooting wildlife or street photography. My Z6 fits nicely in my hands. In terms of image quality, I find it very good. The colors are very lifelike and true to the images I am shooting. Sometimes very little processing/editing is needed. This was/is my first and only mirrorless camera but I can also add that my F-mount lenses work well on this camera with the FTZ adapter. For three and one-half years, I continue to enjoy photography when I use my Z6. I would consider a Z6II before a Z7 but I am also interested in the Z8.

Pros: Evf, lcd, ergonomics, menu.

The fact that newer models have much faster and more accurate AF doesn't mean that the z6 has an AF to throw away and that suddenly you can't work anymore. I photographed for years with the d800 and d810 and when I switched to mirrorless two years ago it felt like a spaceship. One of the things that worried me the most was the battery life of the mirrorless. Cabbage! With the z6 I got to make almost 1800 shots with a battery and mixed use of the viewfinder and display. The other thing is the digital viewfinder but as soon as I tried I fell in love, it does not seem to look at a digital viewfinder and does not tire the eyes at all. For sure when the time comes to change one of the two camera bodies, or both, I will probably also take the MKII or what will be there, but for the moment I think the z6 is a best buy, both between the new and the used.
