Pros: Dynamic range, low-light capabilities, ergonomics, life-like colors

Opinion: Having owned my Nikon Z6 since its arrival back in 2018, I continue to marvel and appreciate the many positives of this camera for my needs. It's lightweight, the colors are gorgeous and I really appreciate its low light capabilities at slower shutter speeds while hand held. A large part of that is also due to the IBIS in the camera, versus my ability to hold the camera fairly still when needed. The 24.5 megapixels is adequate for my needs and is another reason for the good low-light photography. My main purpose for this camera is primarily for landscape, portrait, still life, etc., photography. There have been two small weddings I did photography for and although I am not a professional wedding photographer, both the new married couple and I were very happy with the images produced from the wedding. I have never used or tried the video features. It is a quiet camera when it needs to be, like when I am shooting wildlife or street photography. My Z6 fits nicely in my hands. In terms of image quality, I find it very good. The colors are very lifelike and true to the images I am shooting. Sometimes very little processing/editing is needed. This was/is my first and only mirrorless camera but I can also add that my F-mount lenses work well on this camera with the FTZ adapter. For three and one-half years, I continue to enjoy photography when I use my Z6. I would consider a Z6II before a Z7 but I am also interested in the Z8.

Opinion: Bought used I find it an excellent camera, for its infallible quality and ISO tightness. Thanks to the latest firmware updates, the AF has improved significantly. Eye recognition not bad. AF tracking in my opinion very valid. The only flaw is the non-articulated monitor and only one card slot. For the rest, considering that used it is at a great price, I would say that it is an excellent machine.

Opinion: I have owned it for over 6 years, I use it almost exclusively for landscape photos, even if the z7 would have been more suitable for such use but at the time the budget did not allow it. The high ISO resistance is really excellent as well as the dynamic range. The quality of the files has nothing to envy to the z6II and z6III, the single slot has never created problems for me given the reliability of CFE memories, they cost yes, but never had any problems. Used under all sorts of weather, rain, snow, wind and after more than 6 years it is still in perfect working order. The AF for me is not a problem given the kind of photos I take and that's where the improvements of the following generations are played. The only real drawbacks are the absence of the curtain that protects the sensor during lens change (present on z8) and the screen that cannot be oriented vertically, I would have preferred that the maximum possible shutter speed had been greater than 30 sec but it must also be said that then the sensor tends to heat up so it is not a real defect. I have been tempted several times to switch to the next model or to the z7, but every time I evaluate the pros I lose the desire to change it and rather add a lens. In summary, if you don't need a camera with lightning-fast AF and that doesn't miss a shot, it's a more than valid camera today and you can find it cheap

Pros: Dynamic Range, Display and Viewfinder

Cons: single slot, battery grip without connectors for the controls, 30" exposure and release of the z6II just 2 years after the launch of the mark 1 (they devalued those who bought the new one like me). Nikon with SLRs perhaps slept too much and released them years later. Face detection every now and then to a dog.

Opinion: I switched to mirrorless after a brief experience with the nikon d750 which is great and which I still have. The main reason why is the convenience of having face detection (me being a portrait photographer). The technology overall is pretty reliable apart from at times that it falls asleep and doesn't detect a club. The mirroless are the future and the z 6 overall an excellent camera with obvious flaws that lower its final grade. The sore points: the single 1st slot, the battery grip without connectors for 2nd controls (these two are big or smart by nikon to put a new model on the market after a while). 3rd exposure of only 30 seconds. Problematic suits corrected with the z6II released after only two years. Alas, for me and for all those who bought the first model new, we found ourselves with a nice devaluation of the product.
