The Z5's 24.3MP sensor has almost the same resolution as the Z6's (from 24.5MP)The 0.2MP difference results in 6,016×4,016-pixel images for the Z5, compared to 6,048×4,024 for the Z6. However, photos from the two cameras can be printed at the same resolution or cropped without the slightest difference. Having evaluated everything, I kept it as a second body alongside the Z6II and I use it alternating it indifferently with the latter. The only aspects that I would describe as real defects are: 1) the tendency of the autofocus to be slow, wobbly and sometimes uncertain when the light is low 2) a burst that is certainly not lightning fast. The video sector seems not to be up to the times, but it doesn't matter to me as I don't use it. The stabilizer works really very well, used with Nikkor Z lenses it works at its best and allows you to really gain 4 or 5 stops. In short, in my opinion it is a perfect camera for those who want to enter the FF world, suitable for the advanced amateur photographer let's say, which allows you to take excellent photos in almost all areas excluding perhaps only action and sports photos; I paired it with the 24-120 f/4 S and the 50 f/1.8 S, both of which are great lenses for me and cover everything I need at the moment. Opinion: I started shooting digitally with a D70, then switched to D200, D300 and finally D800, owning various lenses from 16 Fisheye to 300 f/4. As my photographic needs changed, I limited my equipment, using more and more only the 24-120 f/4. I had never thought about the mirrorless world, then in 2021 I bought the Z5 with a 24-70 f/4: after a bit of initial perplexity the Z5 began to undermine the D800 and in the end a few days ago I decided, belatedly, to sell the reflex and the lens park to use the ML. Of course, it's not even comparable to the old D800, but for the photos I take it fully satisfies me. I still have to try to shoot directly in Jpeg, in RAW I find that with Camera Raw the files are well workable and it takes a little to have good photos. The menus are a bit complex, even though I come from the D800, I still can't get to grips with the U1,U2, U3 presets I already had on the P7000. The autofocus is a bit slow, then the focus point between shots is always positioned in the top left corner, making me waste time repositioning it in the center or where I had put it for the required composition, maybe it depends on the touch screen. I don't use AF C, so I don't know its accuracy but for a few attempts I've made it seems to me to be not up to par. The burst shooting at the end is the same as that of the D800, very limited but the fact remains that I don't take sports photos. Well my opinion is that of an advanced amateur photographer, perhaps a Z6 II would have been preferable but apart from the doubled ISO at the top I don't think the differences would have been at the level of the greater expense per type of use, at the time of deciding I preferred to lower the level from the D800. The lens that has to be positioned before the shot is strange to me! I would have preferred to buy the 24-120 f/4 but at the time of buying the Z5 it wasn't there yet. Now I got a 70-180 f/2.8 on Nikon Outlet to complete the kit, I don't need more. I also kept the 16mm Fisheye that I use with the FTZ fitting. I forgot: I miss a bit the built-in flash that was even on the pro D800, even if it created shadow problems with some optics or the lens hood.
