Pros: It is the apotheosis of super bright wide angles

Cons: Nothing. Not even the price, which in my opinion is absolutely in line with the quality offered by this extraordinary lens

Opinion: There is little to say, with the 28 f 1.4 the japs have pulled out something destined to remain for life at the top of the lenses with Nikon F mount. I also own the other f 1.4 of the AFS series and, while recognizing everyone a great quality, I must say that no one (including 105) reaches the extremes of this fantastic 28. It seems that the designer has found a way and a way to overcome any optical problem, there is no way to put this 28 in difficulty! The yield is splendid and the optics seem born precisely to solve very dense sensors, if you use it with an 850 I guarantee that you will get divine things. Contrary to what I read around - probably written by those who do not have it - the AF does not work miracles in speed, let's say that it is in line with previous models. The color returned is very beautiful and lively, let's say more "crunchy" than that of the previous 24, then of course it is a matter of taste. The sharpness is at very high levels, but you already know this. In my opinion it is a lens that every serious nikonist (lover of wide angles, of course) budget permitting should possess. Provided, of course, that it is used as all AFS 1,4 should be used, i.e. at TA or closed at most one stop. Because let's face it, buying stuff like that to use it at f 8 means throwing money, and I hope this is very clear ...

Pros: Everything except the price

Cons: Price only

Opinion: Really a great lens!moltoNitido and with a great contrast.colori molto belli e satura ma mai esagerati. Equipped with a fast and accurate af. It produces images of a three-dimensionality to scream. It is tropicalized properly and in addition it is my favorite focal length! Since it is the last fixed pro range of the Nikon line for SLR I like to think that it is also more updated than the fabulous but older 24-35-85mm. Always a proponent of 28mm as a focal all-rounder, I think it will be almost impossible to remove it from the D6. Rated 15!:):):)

Pros: 1.4 sharpness, af precision, bokeh, microcontrast, three-dimensionality

Cons: that there is no same lens for ML and I have to use the adapter

Opinion: I have been using this lens for 4 5 years now... what to say... it became my first lens, that optics with which I do EVERYTHING. I had the 35 art, extraordinary optics, but I found it a bit tight, so I decided to take this lens, and it was love at first sight. It has a hallucinatory optical quality, certainly superior to 35 art. At 1.4 it already has a sharpness and a frightening three-dimensionality, it seems almost a 50 mm from the detachment it has, and the contained distortion allows you to get very close to the subject, perfect optics to set, to tell, af very reliable, in short, an optic to have necessarily. Too bad there is no equivalent version for ML, but until then, I will hold on to it.

Pros: Look at photos taken at 1.4 or 2, then judge without blinkers! I don't know another 28 mm f 1.4, but that's enough for me.

Cons: High price, but in my opinion it's worth every penny!

Opinion: With 50 mm f1.4 and 85 mm f 1.4 forms a triad that changes the photos you will take, in a decidedly "visible" way. Absolutely justified the discomfort of the weight and replacement of the lens. The only alternative is ...... a zoom all-rounder. I always speak within the Nikon system, but this triad does not disfigure even among the Leica M, at least in the digital world (the color of Leica on the slides is unapproachable!).

Pros: It is an excellent lens from an optical standpoint. Well-built, with powder-tight seals. Fuzzy and very sweet bokeh, for a wide angle. Sharpness, a lot, at every aperture. All in all not too big to be a prime lens. Not too heavy. 77 mm Filter step. Born to be used at full aperture, in any situation, it will never disappoint you.

Cons: expensive, very. Maybe it's the only true "flaw" I can find. Vignette at 1.4 (but I don't consider it a problem, I've never considered it in the lenses I've owned and I use it now). A hair of sharpness less at full aperture (!!!), at the edge of the frame (to want to find the fur in the egg).

Opinion: Neither pros nor cons: It's made (also) plastic... So what???? Now, this matter of plastics I have a little stew, I often read comments of amateur photographers who complain because a similar lens, but also others, especially Nikon, is built with plastic materials. Now, my thought in short is that today with the plastic you do and you can do everything. They are not apart from this material even though feeling the metal in your hand gives me a certain feeling of reliability and robustness together. But to me (as all) it concerns that a lens returns to me sharp images, brilliant, contrastate, without too many aberrations. If it's not made of titanium, graphene or...... alloy Z...me I'm going to do a reason... Finally: This amazing lens should be compared with similar monsters, like the Zeiss Otus, or the Leica M, but without going on emblazoned coats of arms, today the Sigma Art 28mm equal brightness promises authentic wonders, and not only from the point of view of Price. Although I can not currently conduct similar tests, I am convinced that the Nikon would come out a lot, but very well, against opponents that cost at least double, apart from the Sigma that would by its even the most affordable cost, the real enemy of ours. I posted on my blog The proof of this lens, in two episodes: Https://brunomora.blogspot.com/2018/07/nikkor-28-mm-f14-afs-e-g-n-asph-prima.html https://brunomora.blogspot.com/2018/12/nikkor-28-mm-f14-afs-e-g-n-asph-seconda.html Good Reading!
