Now the cons: 1) the problem of humidity is really there: being telescopic, if it rains on top of the barrel while the lens is extended, the water enters inside the lens when it retracts. My specimen had a bit of condensation when I bought it, and I had to send it in for service to have it removed, to prevent it from becoming moldy. It was a calculated choice because, starting from the very low purchase price, the total expense was about 700 to have the lens refurbished, but I will have to be careful not to use it in the rain. As for you, if you buy it used, be careful, and above all consider that the internal zoom of the new 180-600 is the most important difference between these two lenses, such as to justify the purchase with the same optical quality, if you already use a Z camera. It is a lens with the right weight for that range of focal lengths but this weight is poorly distributed, passing from 200 to 500 the lens lengthens and not a little making everything not very harmonious and above all not very stable. And again, the zoom ring - although very precise - is too demultiplied and this makes it slow, you have to turn a lot to go from minimum to maximum focal length. Personally I have equipped my zoommon with neoprene cover (solid color or camouflage does the same, the important thing is to protect it), a 95 Sigma Protector filter (excellent both mechanically and optically even if extremely expensive), an excellent carrying case (Nikon provides an indecent bag equal to that of the fifty, only longer. On Amazon you will find an excellent JJC Lens at 22 euros, in case contact me and send you the link) and above all to collar with Arca Swiss attack (a nice aluminum iShoot collar always taken on Amazon, 52 euros and pass the fear!).
