The real difference is the version 2.8-4 IF Macro, the autofocus is not very fast but the colors are beautiful, the portraits have the right gap between subject and background, the glass of which it is composed feels that they are "old school". It has the usual problem of being more oxen and cartoonfrom 70mm onwards but at 85 you make us a really nice portrait. Before changing system was the last Nikon zoom I held. Bought today at 180 degrees will disfigure any other zoom. If you are looking for absolute performance you have to buy a fixed optics.
