Pros: Screw-on metal lens hood - uniform rendering down to extreme corners - compactness - lightness

Cons: Price, of course

Opinion: I believe that Riccardo Asselta's comment refers to the first version of the 28/2 aspherical (2000-2015). I own the second (2015-2023) bought second-hand - quite rare to find - and some time ago I had the first, on M9, between 2009 and 2011. Both are excellent, the second series is preferable for me for the smaller size of the screwable metal lens hood, which "enters" the viewfinder in a more discreet and less intrusive way than that of the first series, as well as being more aesthetically pleasing for my taste. Furthermore, it seems to me that the optical redesign has brought an appreciable improvement in terms of uniformity of rendering over the entire format, including the corners; which may be irrelevant in reportage and street, but not in landscape and even less in architectural photography. It is a lens of universal use, a valid alternative to the 35mm when you combine it with a 50mm, while the "compare" of the 35 remains in my opinion the 90mm. Compared to the summilux 35 fle (2010) I own, however, this Summicron seems to me to have a slightly lower level of detail. It's probably a minor micro-contrast, which by the way is pleasing to me, because the final result, even with all the sharpness that can be expected, is perhaps more natural, at least for me, grown up with Kodachrome and Velvia.

Pros: Outstanding throughout.

Cons: Nothing from the point of view of image quality, expensive and hood a little too big.

Opinion: It's my favorite lens! Let's start from the construction, impeccable like all Leica lenses, small but not tiny, light enough, fits perfectly on the M10, unique in fact, it has the hood supplied beautiful but a little too big for my taste. We come to the image quality: perfect lens for sharpness, contrast and microcontrast, but in this case perfection is not boring, because this lens has character. Very nice bokeh for an f2 wide-angle lens, all these features offer a very nice rendering.
