Pros: Image quality, quietness, discretion, invisibility. Effectiveness of the interview with Apple devices (Fotos). From fw 4.0, convincing autofocus and increased overall responsiveness. Sensor that grants decent crops when needed (at these levels of quality it's a compelling option)

Cons: Only one SD slot; I would prefer that the video mode was not settable from the touch-screen (indeed, that it was not there at all). It costs a lot, but you know.

Opinion: NOTE: I adapt the considerations made for the Q3-28, because they largely apply to the 43. Previously I had the Q2, which I already thought was perfect for many of my photographic genres. With the Q3, and especially after the fw 4.0, you appreciate a decidedly more ready and responsive autofocus, even if not at the levels of the Canon RF kit I own. As obvious as it is, it is a camera dedicated essentially to reportage-street photography: you don't notice it, it has a retro look that does not intimidate anyone, it is very quiet. However, the stellar quality of the Summicron apo also allows you to easily take home shots of landscape, architecture and portraits, especially taking advantage of the optics at maximum aperture. You can wear it around your neck all day without musculoskeletal consequences, you can recharge it with a USB cable (although I prefer the double mains charger) and the use of the Fotos application is incomparably more efficient than solutions from other brands. Especially when traveling, with an iPad in the evening it is convenient and easy to view on a large screen, select the best shots and delete the others without even having to turn on the Leica. The "macro" function obviously does not allow high RRs, but "in the field" is enough for convincing details (between the minimum of m.a.f. and the possible small crop in post). At any distance and aperture, the lens is prodigious: despite the 60 mpxl you don't feel the slightest drop in quality even in the peripheral areas. Battery life can certainly be improved, and the last fw gives an annoying warning when using the scl4 battery instead of the scl6. But the Q3 43 works perfectly all the same, except maybe in video mode, which I really don't care about. Compared to the Q2 it loses the "panoramic" function that I sometimes used to get panoramic jpgs on the fly; however, it is not a drama, it is better to always use the DNG and stitch later, with the Mac. The crop: I used to demonize it. Even today most of the shots have the native framing of 43mm, which with the 28 makes a perfect match; however, with such a generous sensor and such a high-performance lens, a crop up to the equivalence of 75 or even 90mm "works", it does not flatten and is not perceived as a force.

Pros: Solid construction, great ergonomics and handling, excellent image quality, amazing APO lens and good battery life.

Cons: Not exactly portability, high price (?) and absence of the supplied charger.

Opinion: After owning a Leica SL2 (sold only because, although I loved it, it was too heavy for my use), my feeling with Leica never really disappeared. So, after about a year, I returned to Leica, this time with the Q3 43. Initially I was very undecided between Fujifilm X100VI and Leica Q2/Q3 (at the time for the Q3 I wanted the 28mm version). In the end I had chosen Fuji, but inside I felt that sooner or later I would return to Leica. In fact, even in the positive review I had left for the X100VI, I wrote that one day I would also have a Leica added to it. After about six months... I really did. The hardest choice was between 28mm and 43mm. In the end I opted for 43mm, especially for the type of photography I do and, in particular, for the lens. After the first test shots I completely fell in love with it. The APO-Summicron 43 lens is simply exceptional: practically absent chromatic aberration (as known, and in fact superior to the Summilux I had on the SL2), non-existent distortions, very clean files and a rendering that allows you to safely use even the digital zoom without a real loss of quality. It's an addictive camera: it makes you want to go out and photograph all the time. The Leica menu remains, as always, not very immediate and a bit confusing, but with a minimum of practice you can learn to navigate it without any particular problems. The Leica Looks are nice and well done, but the limitation to only 6 Looks that can be loaded at a time is a bit annoying: to try others you have to delete and redownload them from the app. A sore point is the charger not included: considering the high price, I find this choice hardly justifiable (and honestly I'm tired of this "clown" linked to the European Green legislation). The original charger costs almost € 200 and additional expenses must also be taken into account if you want an extra battery, although it must be said that the autonomy is still very good. On the portability front, the Q3 43 is not pocket-sized like the Fujifilm X100VI: for example, it doesn't fit in my Wandrd D1 Fanny Pack, while with the Fuji I can carry body, two conversion lenses (28 and 50) and batteries without problems. That said, I don't sell the Fuji – I keep both. They are two different cameras, which coexist very well and which, together, increase even more the desire to go out and photograph. The Leica Q3 43 is simply fantastic for reportage, street and conscious photography. The choice between 28 and 43 was not easy, but in the end the 43mm turned out to be, for me, the right choice.

Pros: Manageability, color, appeal.

Cons: Price, AF not phantasmagorical but effective.

Opinion: Elegant, minimal, handy and relatively light, I bought it in just 8 minutes at the Naples store after a calm reflection that lasted almost a year. I couldn't do better than get rid of Canon equipment (sold without regrets). I was reborn photographically speaking in just 3 days of use. I need to improve in the management of shooting parameters but I am particularly satisfied with the purchase. I am already enthusiastic about the amalgam of colors rendered by the files and the atmosphere that reigns in the photos as well as the clear perception that, used well with light, the subjects can be almost sculpted in relief and made to emerge from the background (regardless of the bokeh). In short, in terms of 'aesthetics' we are at the top of unimaginable performance thinking that after all it is a box that almost resembles a toy. I recommend that you consider it as a purchase.

Pros: Wonderful images. It does not clutter. The colors.

Cons: Price?

Opinion: I prefer this to the Q3 with 28mm, a matter of taste. Easy to use, intuitive menu. Lightweight and easy to handle. Of this version I appreciate the 43mm, more akin to me. The macro function is excellent and I find it useful and fun. I love Leica's colors, already as wonderful as she bakes them. Leica prices are known to be not low, but on the market they maintain value and this is no small thing. It is not an all-rounder machine but by cropping the generous sensor you can go further. Leica FOTOS is lightning fast, I didn't have any problems.

Pros: Size, apo lens, Leica color science, Leica looks, video specs, build quality

Cons: Only one sd card slot

Opinion: I come from a Leica sl2 system with 24-90, for reasons of size of my studio the lens was always set between 40 and 50 mm to make a full figure. I thought about it for six months and then I decided to make the change to q3 43. If only I had done it before! It is truly extraordinary in terms of image quality, unparalleled. Super reliable autofocus even in continuous focus, probably thanks to the new update. Rated 10 out of 10
