Pros: Dimensions, weight, optical performance, aperture ring, WR.

Cons: To say something about AF engine noise

Opinion: I've owned this lens for a few years now and I'm happy with it. I often read various interventions that paint it in a negative way. I don't understand them, not at all. I see many positive sides. First the size: small, it protrudes from the machine only 2.3 cm. Very light, miniaturizing tax, I would say. It is therefore logical that in a tiny body there cannot be an AF motor like the modern ones. It means that you don't have to look for ultra-immediacy but this does not mean that it is slow, on the contrary, and it is precise and efficient. On the optical side it is very very good. Absent abreactions and zero distortion. Just close it to f4 and it becomes great everywhere. I personally didn't see flare. Remarkably sharp and performs well on 40 MP sensors. I don't see any otyic sins. Then it has the aperture ring, great addition in such a small lens. And it is also tropicalized. What more could you ask for? If I really have to find a flaw it is the noise of the AF motor, but nothing particularly annoying. Let's say you can feel it. An excellent lens, and a focal length that is not for everyone, some love it, others not so much. If it is your focal length then highly recommended. Mark

Pros: Compactness, price quality, WR

Cons: If you know what the 40mm full frame are like nothing

Opinion: After I stopped using Fuji for work, I was left in my hand with an XT3 and, not wanting to sell it, I paired it with this little pancake. I can perhaps say that I have stopped forcing the Fuji brand into what it is not: a set camera. Don't get me wrong, I've been working on it for years, but since I've been using it just for pleasure as a semi-compact I've rediscovered the pleasure of the Fuji system as a companion for adventures: light, effective, fun to use. It shines combined with fixed and compact lenses with an intention more of an amateur than a professional. With this pancake you carry around a light system that has no lack compared to heavier and bulkier pairs. One of the sharpest and most effective lenses I've tried on the XT3, it's certainly not identical to its older f1.4 brothers but I don't have to tell you either. Now that the 23mm has come out (damn it) I'd just be tempted to see how I could find myself with a focal length I'm more used to. Fujifilm should delight us with a new tropicalized 18mm and, not knowing if optically it is possible, a 33mm pancake to combine with a compact triad to take everywhere without worries. A purchase that I have been recommending for years to colleagues skeptical of pancakes, but if this is the real value of the ML APSC, the form factor is welcome.

Pros: Compactness - Lightness - Waterproofing - Diaphragm ring

Cons: Price - Autofocus (due to acoustic noise)

Opinion: A great lens, ideal for making a camera to take with you on nature hikes and travels. It is very suitable for taking "conceptual" photos, understood as those in which the quality of the image remains in the background compared to the subject or situation you want to portray and in this sense its 27 mm (40 equivalent) are in my way of thinking the most intuitive focal length and suitable for these purposes. Used examples are offered at absurdly high prices, (in the end I bought it new at the same price as the available used ones). From the point of view of performance it is an excellent lens (imperceptible geometric ornaments) from which, however, we should not expect miracles. I notice that to get results similar to those I achieve with other lenses I have to push more in the RAW processing, for example by pumping the saturation; and also in terms of tonal range it gives me the impression of being a bit "raw". In this regard, at Fuji, the only term of comparison I have is the XF 23mm f/1.4 R, which in terms of image definition and colors outclasses it without reservation (with weights and dimensions more than tenfold however). The aperture ring is very pleasant, very successful for such an optic because, combined with a camera body with an ancient flavor (such as the XT2) you find in your hands a jewel that puts you in a good mood, which makes you feel like a tourist on vacation and allows you to shoot as it was done in the era of mechanics only. The lens cap makes me a little anxious because it attaches to the lens simply by friction of the barrel barrel walls and there is no provision for a strap or similar to make an additional safety seal system. Not very suitable for video shooting due to the noise of the autofocus motor that disturbs the sounds recorded by the camera.

Pros: Portability, WR, optical quality and microcontrast sharpness, saturated colors, AF ok on recent bodies, beautiful BW

Cons: Ridiculous lens hood that must be replaced with a third party, to protect against side flares

Opinion: As an amateur. I use it on the go together with the 18-55 zoom and I'm fine. Equipped with vintage lens hood and neutral filter for battle. Mounted on xt30 II, it runs light, I use it in all weather conditions and at sea, obviously paying attention to the camera body which is not wr (sigh!). To tell one story, trekking in the rain, taken out for a few shots, made condensation on the filter, but the optics were perfect. The 40mm eq focal length is great for everything, with a few steps forward or backward, I like it. I often use f8 even on landscapes, clean photos. I also have to say decent detachment on a close-up, at wider apertures. Flares easily enter if you have sunlight coming in at the edge of the focal length. I also have the 35 1.4 which has something extra as a look.. But in trekking with variable weather and more uncertain situations, I prefer the 27, which also gives an extra breather on the landscapes. I also often shoot it in BW and I have to say that the microcontrast makes the photos with a nice texture. I'm left with the doubt vs 23 f2. In the end, the 27, with a suitable lens hood, still has its volumetric footprint. However, after long hesitations I have had it in the kit for more than a year, I am satisfied with it and I use it often.

Pros: Sharpness, lightness, af, wr.

Cons: Nothing at the moment.

Opinion: Purchased to support the 10/24 on fuji xt1. Lens that I use mainly for street, (40 mm on FX) and for light outputs when I do not need the wide angle. I immediately appreciated the weight, the lightning af and the sharpness not to mention the beautiful colors it churns out. In my opinion a must to have in a fuji kit. Advised!
