Pros: Light files, pre-view shot, auto-focus, weight, wifi system

Cons: Battery consumption

Opinion: After the unexciting experience with R7, I had momentarily put in the freezer the idea of making a new approach to the Mirrorless world by relying on the old but still excellent 1DX first version for my work. Thanks to a bargain price (further lowered by trading in two lenses) and the changed professional needs, I put my hand on this R6 and I must say that at the debut of fire in a big event such as a European Fencing Championship (6 days of competitions) it immediately dispelled any doubts. "Filing" almost a kilo compared to the old flagship was a panacea when you have to run for hours like a pinball in a sports hall. But that of weight is only one of the many advantages: amazing image quality in combination with adapter and EF lenses, super performing autofocus, the ability to pre-view already in the viewfinder what the shot will be like with the set parameters real boon when there are photos to be delivered in real time and the time for development / post is reduced to the bone. Furthermore, by setting the jpgs well you get ready-made and not very bulky files, 20 mpx are more than enough since the photos I take end up mainly on the social networks of the various customers. In short, despite being an irreducible "reflexologist" almost bordering on Luddism, I have to admit that the R6 was a turning point for my work, even without breaking the bank for R3 or R1. If I had to find another opportunity, I certainly wouldn't miss the chance to get a second camera body.

Pros: AF module, construction, viewfinder viewfinder, very manageable digital noise

Cons: 20 megapixels per crop

Opinion: Mirrorless FF which has given me a lot of satisfaction, ISO hold and AF module are the two greatest qualities. As a con, unfortunately, having used it exclusively for nature photography, I count the degradation of the image of the subject when making important crops of the file. Of course, "only" 20 megapixels don't allow much. On the other hand, at close range when you don't need to cut the frame too much, the detail is excellent, nothing to say. Keys arranged intuitively, I came from a 5D mark IV and I was not affected by the physical change of the machine. All very well arranged and intuitive. I leave it after 3 years of intense use to try a conscious downgrade towards the R7, I am aware that with low light I will have to pay attention and not a little to the ISO, but as soon as the light becomes good I think I will take advantage of the 32.5 megapixel sensor and the greater flexibility of my RF 100-500 which will become a 160-800. Let's hope for the best!!

Pros: Image quality, burst, handling.

Cons: Lack of top display, lack of electronic shutter sound

Opinion: After 3 years of use in the professional field (weddings and events) I can confirm the qualities of this splendid camera body. I never had the feeling that I was missing anything. With little light she always gives you wonderful files, especially by combining bright optics. Side AF is unquestionably valid 1 or 2 photos out of focus on an entire service (800 1000 )photos. The only drawback when shooting with the electronic shutter with the burst, you have little perception of what is happening, it would be useful for Canon with an updated firmware to introduce the sound as for R6 mk2. Vote 9

Pros: Value for money, sensor, focus, speed, video, stabilizer, rechargeable with powerbank, light files

Cons: Robustness not at the level of higher-end cameras, electronic shutter

Opinion: I have owned the R6 for almost a year and have used it for sports, events and travel. It replaced the 1D mark IV. The body has good ergonomics, I feel good with the grip (I have medium-sized hands), the three dials are great. I would have distanced the Info key more from the zoom and Q keys because sometimes they get confused. The feeling of robustness is good, similar to the 6D, not to the levels of the 1D. In practice the camera is quite robust, it holds up very well to rain, sand but not mud (at the Monza Rally mud got into the buttons and I had to send it to the camera service, the 1D IV instead had no problems). I am very satisfied with the performance at high iso, in an indoor modeling competition I always shot at ISO 8000 and 10000, there is a slight grain that is corrected in post production while maintaining the details. The dynamic range is excellent, the colors are very good from the start, especially the reds. I confirm the presence of moiré when photographing dense textures. When I use non-stabilized lenses, you can feel the IBIS and it has always worked well for me. The viewfinder works well, it has no lag but I would have liked a higher resolution for when I use focus peaking. Focus tracking for people and cars doesn't miss a beat, for smaller and unpredictable subjects such as radio-controlled model cars instead I struggle to use the MAF auto, using the 70-200 f2.8 non-IS. I don't recommend the electronic shutter on the R6 for action photography, there's always rolling shutter. I use the shutter mode with an electronic curtain and a mechanical one always except when I use very bright lenses and very fast shutter speeds (1/4000), in that case I have to use the totally mechanical shutter otherwise the upper part of the photo is darker. The speed of this machine is excellent, it never has delays in either turning on or using it. In conclusion I am very satisfied with this camera, I have listed several things that can be improved but they are compromises for the low price. Update: even in very high humidity conditions the camera works well, the only problem is that the glass of the viewfinder fogs up inside and to continue photographing you have to use the rear screen. The fogging goes away without leaving streaks by putting the camera in a dry environment.

Pros: AF when doing close-up portraits

Cons: A bin, the facts Canon released a version II without rumors and after a while

Opinion: A machine that came out after the competitors should have had all the best features and instead it was made without reasoning, starting with i, face and eye tracking available only in one mode (over the entire frame) and therefore unusable, of necessity I made a virtue! basically with R6 you don't have eye reading on all focusing methods, but only on the whole area called tracking, so I had to customize the AF-ON button to make the discriminator between one shot-servo and the AF Point button is set to detect the eye, the AE lock button remained unchanged, I practically always press the button set for the eye, when I have to look for a particular point or because of contrasts with the background the focus should be difficult, I use the center point to hook and immediately after the dedicated button described above But the biggest problem the menu after two years I still haven't figured out if I can or can't turn off IBIS for photos, In fact, the menu is hidden and active only when you mount a lens that is not stabilized, at that point you can decide whether to activate or deactivate it for both photos and videos, but immediately after mounting a lens with stabilizer this option disappears so I assume you can't choose!! And I'm sorry because I would have liked to try to turn it off since when I take landscape photos or with a telephoto there is no way to have a photo without motion blur, they are mixed as if there were digital artifacts
