With 6D + 6D MkII for work I use the 35mm f/2, the 16-35 f/4 and the 24-70 f/4 but for a long time I wanted a light all-rounder to carry with me on non-demanding occasions. I had tried an "old" 28-135 f / 3.5-5.6 found used little but I was not at all satisfied, I saw every photo inaccurate, kneaded, with sharpness only in the center and not even always. Last week I saw the 24-105 3.5-5.6 STM used at 260 Euro including shipping from TuttoFoto and I did not miss it. And I am more than satisfied! A sharpness that I did not even expect, I do not say up to the extreme angles but almost, a very fast and silent autofocus, so much so that in the very first shots (using it with glasses and not seeing very well in the viewfinder) I thought it was defective because it seemed to me it did not move. And yes, the front element has a slight backlash, but it is a defect over which you can pass without worrying, because the qualities are many. The aperture only 5.6 from 70mm up? It is not a defect because we already know it from the start, if you want brighter lenses there are, but they cost much more and weigh and clutter much more. Highly recommended!

Opinion: Taken very recently (May 2021) after reading all the possible reviews, I needed an all-in-one lens to alternate with my fixed optics to avoid carrying a 6/8 kg ballast each time, as well as having to change the lenses themselves too frequently, perhaps losing "the fleeting moment" for not having mounted the right optics at that time. I would like to point out that I use a Canon EOS 6D and am a reviewer of cameras and lenses, having worked for several years for industry magazines; this work gave me the chance to really try many optics, both original and third-party Canons. The EF24-105 impressed me with the optical yield, which even exceeded my expectations. In the center it is indistinguishable (with my reflex) from sacred monsters such as the Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8 L USM, the Sigma 50 mm Art f/1.4 and the excellent Canon 28 mm f/2.8 IS USM, at their respective focal points. Only at the extreme edge you can see a small difference from those listed, especially at 24/28 mm, but just close a diaphragm or two to recover and have from f5.6 to f/8 an excellent sharpness to all focal points. Perfectly correct chromatic aberration in the room by shooting in JPEG, the same for vignetting. Only a slight cushion distortion of pins is visible at the longer focals, but with a program like PTlens you can automatically correct it as the profile is present. And of course also at the wide-angle focal points... I didn't find that described phenomenon of the barrel game, maybe over time Canon corrected the flaw. The only note is the very evident coma, especially on the shorter focal points and a brightness at 105 mm of only f/5.6. However, given the price, you couldn't honestly ask for more. I highly recommend it!

Opinion: Taken used, but kept as new by a Juzaforum user, it turned out to be a surprising lens for price/performance ratio (it's worth everything it costs even taken new). I use it with great satisfaction on the 6DII. I honestly did not expect such uniformity of yield and sharpness to all diaphragms and focals, most likely A perfect copy will have happened to me. In landscape I find it only slightly lower as yield at 16-35 f/4L, which is all to say for a kit lens. Automatic MAF very fast, without hesitation and absolutely silent, therefore perfect for those who make videos. The only adjective that perfectly describes this lens is "amazing"." Vote 9, but only for the slight "game" of the barrel, an indication of an "economic" construction, but that does not affect its general yield in the slightest. I highly recommend it to those who, like me, own a FF reflex with a sensor not particularly demanding as the 6D and 6DII are.

Opinion: I recently took this lens, after several months of "study" to have a everything do with excellent optical qualities, but at the same time easily transportable to the neck or in hand for a long time. The lens is sharp to all the focal points, already from the whole opening and from the angle to the corner (which over time has made it known), the price at which it is located is low, although lately with little more you can find a good specimen of 24-105 L first series (net of its flaws...). The autofocus is fast, quiet and precise (without having to perform miscellaneous calibrations for f/b focus), the stabilizer is very effective. The main reason why I chose this lens to the other alternatives (f4 constants, or even some universal f2.8) is the weight, the nearest competitor was the 24-70/4 that would not have offered me superior optical qualities, if not 2/3 of stop more at 70mm, but 1/3 less at 24mm and 35mm less side canvases, all at a cost more than double (justifiable, if you need the peculiarities that a series L offers). Among the cons I put the dimensions, because anyway "could be more compact" (yes, but then maybe you sacrifice the optical qualities...). Lastly, the game of the frontal element. Others before me pointed out this flaw, but inside of me I thought "ok, it will be something practically imperceptible, on a lens of economic invoice is normal...". In fact, the game is noticeable, walking with the optics in hand, the simple vibrations of the walk you hear the noise due to internal games (it is not the stabilizer, as in some sigma...). In practice it is nothing serious and moving the front element with the hand while shooting, even at full aperture, the quality of the image is not affected. Let's say this flaw would be important if it were an L-series... For the (carefree) use I will make of it, it is the best you could want! Promoted with flying colours!
