sent on May 06, 2023 Pros: Perfect for mountain outings or holidays.... Landscapes, streets, portraits, all in one! Beautiful colors, nice contrast, light and resistant to extreme cold (used at - 25 degrees C.) Cons: Obviously less sharp and "clean" than a fixed zoom or a prime lens. Very noticeable alo type reflection around light sources taken in certain situations. Opinion: The all-rounder lens "only for holidays" that then for one reason or another always remains glued to the machine! I replaced a Sony 24 105 F4, which bad luck wanted me not to find a successful copy (2 decentralized on 2) to try I took this tamron, which despite being less sharp in an absolute sense but has a very homogeneous yield from edge to edge to the vare apertures / focal. It goes well with the tamron 17 28 2.8, then all with 67mm filter. The only problem is that in some situations a very evident wing effect is created around a light point if taken frontally at the center of the frame. |
sent on April 17, 2023 Pros: Weight, size, sharpness, versatility, price, AF almost at sony level Cons: If compared to the cost it has no defect Opinion: I wanted to try this lens because many reviews spoke well of it. I state that I come from a tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 so someone could take me for crazy to have made this step. Without taking anything away from the 35-150 in terms of quality but the weight at least for me is really excessive (combined with the a7iii with battery grip), we are talking about more than 2 kg. So most of the time he stayed at home or in my backpack and I preferred to use the 28-60 sony very small and very light albeit darker. The 28-200 combined with the a7iii is almost perfect (for my use of course), everything is around 1.2kg and you have exceptional versatility in a single lens. You can switch from wide angle to telephoto in an instant. The sharpness is on excellent levels to be a superzoom and also the af responds well 90% of the time. It lacks stabilization and some buttons but you can live very well without modern camera bodies. In short, for me it is the best all-rounder lens for those looking for lightness and versatility without too many compromises in terms of quality. Ideal for a 360° use perhaps combined with a fixed light 1.8. I noticed that around used there are none although sales on Amazon are many. A sign that those who bought it hold on to it. I preferred it to the sony 24-105 f4 (which I got to try) because of the weight and focal range. |
sent on February 25, 2023 Pros: All Cons: For now nothing Opinion: I have this lens recently and I got to try it at the Carnival of Viareggio (you can see them in my gallery), my comment is the same as Valparre who is before me, I combined it with the Sony A 7 lll and I'm enthusiastic, A 28 mm F2.8 - 32 mm F3.2 - 50mm F 3.5 - 70 F4 - 100 mm F 4.5 - 135 mm F 5 - 200mm F 5.6 ... for me great. Now light travel , combined with the Samyang 18 mm 2.8 and the classic 50 ino 1.8 Sony... are fully booked. Of course the fixed ..... but I'm satisfied Vote 10 |
sent on November 10, 2022 Pros: Allows you to exit with only one lens, sharpness, size Cons: Blurry good, but not always great Opinion: I bought this lens to combine with the A7C for a family trip, not being able to bring too many goals. I must say that I was very satisfied and I find that the combination is very successful. The lens is very sharp and the images it returns are always detailed and with pleasant colors. Of course it had had 4 mm more at the bottom it would have been the maximum, but probably it would not have been the same size. For the use to which it is intended I would say that it is perfectly fine. In situations of complicated backgrounds, such as branches and leaves, the blur is slightly "nervous", but always pleasant. This lens goes beyond the idea of the usual all-rounder that is often seen as a great compromise at the expense of quality. In this case the quality is always perceptible and the lens can also be used in many situations where a handyman is not necessarily needed. If you are not too demanding it can very well replace many fixed and especially many zooms with more limited excursion. As far as I am concerned, I would say that he is promoted with flying colors. |
sent on June 29, 2022 Pros: Focal excursion, weight/size, cost, optical yield. Cons: A greater AF responsiveness would have made it perfect. Opinion: It's true, this lens enhances the E system. I happened by chance on these reviews and thanks to an offer on Amazon with installment plan I said: let's try it! I've had it in my hand for two days, I don't believe my eyes. Mounted on an A7III the coupling makes just over 1.2 Kg, does not weigh in the bag, does not weigh around the neck, is not problematic to install on small tripods. The consistency of the lens does not seem cheap to me at all, the excursion is soft without hesitation. After a month of use, while confirming the limits (very acceptable) described in the other reviews, a greater responsiveness on the AF would have made this lens a true masterpiece, usable in the round. It remains without any doubt a very valid travel companion in excellent company with the Ultron 21mm and the Nokton 40 1.2. In the outputs from very long focal length with Nikon D500 + 200/500 goes instead to cover what is missing to take shots on the fly being able to count on a camera always ready to use. Very good! |
sent on May 16, 2022 Pros: Embarrassing esccursion, yield on bigmpx, relatively high brightness, size, cost. Cons: Isn't it 1.2? a few too many AC that you remove easy, does not have the starry of the best Voigtlander or legendary Canon. Opinion: A lens that in my experience enhances the Sony E system (Tamron has at least 4 that make it unique). For months I doubted the pace but in the end I did it and I am very happy; mindful of the superzoom of the previous generation but also of the various 24 105 that have always been quite painful even if closed, I thought I would find yet another plastic. But here there is something different, this is a plastic made for 61mpx that does not start from 24 but from 28 and that difference is worth a world, for the better for the compromises avoided on the quality side. Yes, it solves 61 mpx and on 42 it is embarrassing for how it goes as soon as you close a stop; if you shoot trees, woods and foliage it makes an impression for how much crisp stuff you get on the frame. Use fixed of value and among those closed and this does not change the sharpness, but the lack of AC and the resistance flare .. STOP. Fast Af, excellent eye focus, tropicalized, light, sharp more than any other wish and so much so that it is worth a kit together with a bright / wide fixed ... Believe me... makes you smile after years looking for the fixed that solves the big mpx ... being in your hand a zoom, a superzoom... so resolving. |
sent on April 26, 2022 Pros: Focal range, f2.8 to 28mm, relatively cheap and light to be what it is Cons: In the end none. Maybe the lack of stabilization and a not really lightning fast AF Opinion: I took this lens looking for a handyman to carry around every day. I was undecided between the various 24-105, 24-70, 28-75 etc but in the end I decided to take this because I noticed that I shoot much more on the telephoto side than wide-angle (in everyday photos) and a 70-200, in addition to being more bulky, would have been too pushed. I use it with the sony A7c so it remains relatively small and lightweight. Of course, coming from m43 there is a big difference but also in a positive way. It would have been nice if it were smaller, lighter and brighter (as for every lens, on the other hand) but in hindsight there are not many alternatives: the various all-rounders are, in the end, large and heavy equal, if not more (removed the 28-60 but you can not compare with a 28-200, of course) and the various 70-200 are always larger and heavier, although brighter. Ultimately since I took it I have not taken it out of the camera body and I have not used anything else and I do not really feel the need, for now. |
sent on December 03, 2021 Pros: Value for money detail even at the focal mass weight price and versatility Cons: Against????? maybe the fact that they didn't give it to me. Opinion: Optics purchased from my shopkeeper as used but didn't even have fingerprints on it, perfect with 5 year Polyphoto warranty paid 20% less than new, a bargain. Taken for the Sony A7 III since I only had the 200-600 and I wanted a kind of all-rounder without fainting I looked on the site for the optics that had been of interest to me, the originals I discarded them all, although certainly better as quality the price was not within my budget and among the alternatives this gem popped up. Tried in a day not really ideal as light made me very beautiful files, I was immediately convinced by the sharpness of the images and the rendering in general. One of the small "flaws" that I detected is the distortion towards the edges especially at the maximum focal length but nothing dramatic because the 70-200 f2.8 also does it so just a small correction in post and you saved a few hundred euros. For what is my experience with this lens I would definitely recommend it. I've heard rumors that versions from Thailand are to be avoided because they are less quality but I trust Tamron. Promoted with flying colors. |
sent on March 06, 2021 Pros: Light, crisp, very versatile, 2.8 to 28 Cons: 2.8 only to 28 Opinion: I just took it and it immediately hit me positively. I use it on the A7 III and with a range of 28-200 allows you to go out with a single lens. It is not stabilized, but so is the machine, very light with excellent sharpness at all focal points. If it serves at 28 is 2.8 and on some occasions it can come in handy. For the moment I am very satisfied, he replaced the 24-70 Vario Tessar, I did it because I love long focals. A great lens that I absolutely feel like recommending. |
sent on January 26, 2021 Pros: Lightweight, image quality, versatile, bright. Cons: No one, perhaps a little price, given the lack of stabilisation. Opinion: it is a handyman's optics that, however, certainly amazes with the good image quality. Like all the latest Tamron optics, it has a fairly low minimum focus distance, making it even more versatile. The maximum opening to the minimum focal makes it excellent even for nocturnal landscapes. The image quality is remarkable, compared to the focal excursion, with beautiful details, fast focus, although it seems to me to suffer a little more at the long focal points, but nothing tragic. It is the classic travel optics that manages to cover all needs a little without sacrificing quality. By the way, it's also pretty light. I find it only a little overpriced in relation to perceived quality, but still aligned with other similar optics. Maybe the presence of the stabilizer would have made it a little more complete, but we are satisfied with the stabilization in the room. Promoted with flying colours. |
sent on December 27, 2020 Pros: Price, lightness, brightness Cons: Nothing Opinion: I believe that every assessment should be made above all in comparison, which is not possible because there is no such objective in a wide range of costs. A Golf is not comparable to a Porsche, but to a Corolla or Astra, etc. In this case it does not seem to me that there are "Astra or Corolla" of the same range that can compete ... the Tam defeats them all. I am not a professional, and I find that this lens fully meets my needs. I leave the technical finesse to more qualified photographers. |
sent on August 27, 2020 Pros: Weight, footprint, cost, focal excursion, good sharpness. Cons: Af not always accurate, poor resistance to flares, build quality, blurry not at the top, lack of stabilization. Opinion: Definitely a great all-rounder at a more than honest price. Attracted by those extra 100 mm, I wanted to try it well, with the intention of replacing the Sony 24-105G. The spark didn't go off. First of all, the thing I feared the most is the 28mmm at the bottom, those 4mm difference from Sony are an abyss for the way I photograph. Also compared to Sony I found a less responsive autofocus (especially with the af eye), a blurry one less pleasant, a lower backlight resistance and, in general, a sharpness/resolution not at the top (which heck there stands, for a low-cost superzoom so). The build quality is obviously cheap, but it still looks good. The lack of stabilization, in critical light conditions, you feel, there is none. Personally I also felt the lack of the Sony customization button, which once used (in my case as eye af),it's hard to go back. Weight and footprint: they have done a small miracle, it is really compact and also mates well with small bodies like the A6400. As far as I'm concerned, however, I should make too many compromises and I prefer to continue with Sony. |
sent on August 27, 2020 Pros: Focal excursion, weight, versatility. Cons: Constructive quality, NOT always accurate AF, lack of optical stabilization. Opinion: I bought this lens a month ago. I made a thousand shots in different conditions by mounting it on A7RIII. Unfortunately I noticed right away that the insertion into the camera graft is not as fluid as it should be. Unfortunately, the materials look low quality, to the touch and to the eye it is "plastic". The opening to F 2.8 in my opinion is just marketing because in the most used focal points it is always at least F4. In addition, the lack of the initial 4mm, although few, is noticeable in different situations. The Eye-AF does not always respond well, especially to TA and in low light conditions where the AF literally goes into crisis. At 200 millimeters you feel the lack of optical stabilization that loses that sharpness that at the intermediate focal points is at excellent levels. Surely for those who need an all-rounder as the only lens is the best choice, rival Sony 24-240 is significantly lower. If you are looking for a very good lens, look at something else. I point out that sometimes the camera can't control the aperture of the diaphragm and you need to disassemble and reassemble the lens. UPDATE: With the firmware version (vers. 2.0) the problem with opening the diaphragm seems to be solved. It has also been corrected to operate in P mode (which no one uses) where you can no longer manually adjust the aperture of the diaphragm. Initially I had planned to switch to the Sony FE 24-105 G OSS but for the moment I will continue to test this pending new optics (hoping that Sony given the competition will give us some of its pearls). |
sent on July 13, 2020 Pros: Focal excursion. Lightness. The effe 2.8 to 28 mm. Cons: Lack of stabiliser but I do not think it is necessary. Opinion: Finally a lens suitable for travel, a everything do very versatile and with optical quality not bad. Mounted on the A7III it is really well balanced and the quality of the images really amazing. Suitable for those who want a whole do (but not only) light and compact. Taken in place of the 24-105 f4 sony because of the focal excursion and also for the initial 2.8 at 28 mm which sincerely does not hurt. Before the release I thought I'd take a 70-200 but as soon as I heard about the news I held back and it was worth it, believe me. Good Tamron. I edit the post after a few days of testing. Lightning-fast, silent focus, precise and sliding focus. I add that of course it is all very subjective and not being a professional maybe I am not able to give in-depth technical evaluations but I assure you that it will not disappoint those who take it. |
