sent on November 15, 2022 Pros: Sharpness - Lightness - Cost - Soft Blur Cons: Autofocus - Construction Opinion: I owned the Sony 50ino for 1 year and a half, taken Used at About 140 €, used with my A7rII to cover the hole from 16-35 to 70-200 in my landscape photos and also used for some portrait / close-up, Sharpness already excellent at TA, Pleasant Blurred, Super Light, in this Focal I think it is the best lens as a quality / price ratio in Sony, if we really want to find some fault, Autofocus sometimes uncertain while on a constructive level you feel that it is a plasticotto but still to the touch is not so bad, as mentioned above difficult to find better in this price range. |
sent on October 17, 2022 Pros: Lightness Cons: Autofocus Opinion: I would like to spend a spear in favor of this lens so mistreated, it is light little bulky with a photographic quality close to the twin Zeiss 55 unfortunately compared to the latter the limits are several and you can make several mistakes . A cheap lens definitely not suitable for videos because the noise of the mechanical autofocus is terrible . Be careful not to take versions before 2017 because the old firmware makes it unusable |
sent on September 15, 2021 Pros: Price , Weight , Sharpness Cons: Don't have it Opinion: I took this lens at 190 € at the physical store in Catania and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised . Contrary to what I read in previous posts, the AF is quite fast and even when the light is low, it should be noted that I only take photos and do not make videos. I use it on an A7 III and it is advisable to use it on modern bodies to have a fairly performing AF. As sharpness it is good in the center at almost all focal lengths, a little less at the edges but at an almost imperceptible level. To conclude I say that at this price it is a lens that every amateur and professional should have in his backpack and that is worth much but much more than it costs . |
sent on March 25, 2021 Pros: Very sharp ,cheap, light, sony Cons: Absolutely nothing for this price Opinion: Absolutely a perfect, light and overeconomic goal...... is worth much but much more than its price. It's absolutely sharp, with my a7r iv it takes spectacular pictures. Those who talk about it badly are probably a photographer of dubious quality. I've tried it in different situations and it's always been up to it. You see the video on youtube with the 55 test that costs 500 euros more |
sent on March 14, 2021 Pros: compact and light, sharp, good contrast, pleasant blurry. Cons: Economic construction, a little slow and insecure to very closed diaphragms. Opinion: Considering that it is less than 200 euros and that a 50mm "battle" always comes well I would say that it is an optics to have. Full-aperture sharpness is acceptable in the center and poor at the edges, improves significantly to f2.8, between f5.6 and 11 from the maximum and there shows great skills, not bad at f16 and acceptable at f22. Contrast (and microcontrasto) is always good, even blurry is not bad. Autofocus is a bit slow and a bit noisy, but not tragic (reading other reviews was the thing that worried me the most), with the A7rII struggling beyond f11. The optics are very compact and beautiful light, dowry not to be underestimated since it is mounted on an ML. In short, putting everything on the plate my judgment is positive, especially if it is related to the really attacking price. |
sent on November 22, 2020 Pros: Lightweight, versatile, small, very low price for Full Frame Cons: he just lacks a smaller focus distance Opinion: I will be sincere and hairless on my tongue. A crisp 50mm FullFrame 1.8 even at sony's original 200 euro TA you can't help but buy. I always try to try the optics for what I really am and not to hear, as I do on my channel https://www.youtube.com/c/LucaMelilloLights The Sony 50ino I always use it when I have to go out light and without a backpack, always take home the photo, it is reliable and precise. The only thing he lacks is the focus distance, unfortunately at 45cm it's too much... Patience |
sent on September 29, 2020 Pros: Lightness Cons: Compared to the equivalent canon stm costs too much. Accurate but slow for quick subjects. Audable in videos in quiet environments. Plastic that doesn't give a feeling of excessive durability Opinion: By chance I had tried a couple of different, one at f 1.8 was not very sharp, the other was good. Alongside my sigma art 50mm that weighs a ton, especially when they are not jobs where the lens makes the difference, I took one used cheaply that at f1.8 is super sharp, otherwise I would not have taken it. Obviously at the edges you don't have to expect the same quality, but it is comparable to all 50mm 1.8 of the latest generation (except the Z that is on a world apart) The bokeh is bubble, nothing creamy anyway pleasant, in line with the price range. On my a7III is fine and they are all precisely in focus. The af engine is stable and precise, the only flaw if you have to make a near-distant fire change and vice versa, it takes a while compared to a more expensive goal. At the end of the story, all right? Yes, but only if you catch a sharp specimen. Great if you want to go light. If you have money to spend there is also the 45mm samyang that has a decidedly nice bokeh, but those 5mm make the difference, in the end they do not overlap. |
sent on June 30, 2020 Pros: Color yield, light, compact, great price of the new Cons: Autofocus in low light Opinion: I thought a lot about whether to buy this goal, but the choice between 50 mm to 1.8 was not very wide without going on lenses with decidedly excessive weight. I was very impressed by the color rendering, the colors to my taste are magnificent! Overall it is a good lens with excellent value for money of the new. EDIT 18/09/20: After having the ability to try it out in the field for several shots I confirm what other users described on the focus, even on my A7R3 is very slow even if it is then precise when hooking. |
sent on April 24, 2020 Pros: Great value Cons: non-tropicalized, noisy autofocus for video and has no internal focus Opinion: I bought it a few months ago, new at an absolutely inviting promotional price (149 euros, thanks to Black Friday). The idea was to keep it for a while, waiting to replace it with the much more expensive Sonnar 55. In fact the performance turned out to be higher than expected and I don't think I'll change it anymore. It is an economic construction perspective - but at that price it is difficult to claim better - and it has the limits of the type of autofocus and the lack of tropicalization. But apart from these aspects, optically it is much better than I expected and what I had read in various reviews where it almost seems like a bottle bottom. It doesn't really work out to me! Even the AF, downloading the latest firmware of the Sony A7 III, is suitable for most situations, except for action photos, and is very accurate in almost 100% of cases. The sharpness is very good in the center from the maximum openings. The edges are discrete to TA, good at f.2.8 and become great from f.5.6. But this is noted in monitors going to analyze the high magnification image. In inkject prints the differences appear negligible, when you can also notice (two A4 prints with many fine details, one at f.2 and the other at f.8, appear more or less identical). The chromatic aberrations are also very correct. Ultimately, a lightweight lens, great for journeys and portraits set and providing photos of virtually indistinguishable quality compared to far more expensive optics. |
sent on April 02, 2020 Pros: Sharp, very light and cheap Cons: with an embarrassing autofocus and very "plastic" construction Opinion: For what it costs you can't expect too much... I use it on A7 first series, although a similar autofocus I had not yet seen it, the worst I have ever tried... very slow and uncertain, even with the latest firmware is light years away from cheap third-party lenses like Samyang... it still remains very sharp and cheap, too bad for the autofocus, or it would have been perfect... I still feel like recommending it to anyone looking for a good lens spending little, using it to portray the bad autofocus does not impact so much. |
sent on January 20, 2020 Pros: Sharpness , price, color yield, weight Cons: Autofocus not very fast, but in portrait never wrong a photo. Opinion: I think it's one of the most underestimated goals. I find it a real best-buy. Light and perfect for the alpha 7 III. I use it in the studio at various openings and I did not find any particular problems with 'autofocus. Not as fast as the 35, but not even to have any particular problems. . I like everything about this goal. The color rendering and detail in the first place. I completed the 85-35-50 1.8 set that give me great satisfaction |
sent on December 16, 2019 Pros: Sharpness held backlight price/performance Cons: SLOW AF Opinion: It's the classic fiftie very sharp f2.8 onwards, but even at f1.8 can give beautiful images especially in portraits. It keeps the backlights very well and the colors are beautiful. The AF is slow on the A7II but no more than the old fifty Canon I had, indeed compared to the Canon I prefer the Sony, it seems even better built. Ah, it's cheap, it's good to have it in your bag. |
sent on December 16, 2019 Pros: Light, compact, price, good yield Cons: af a noisy hair Opinion: Using it on a7iii far from being that lousy lens that many complain about indeed, it behaves very well even in the detection of the eye. It's a noisy hair, but no more than the 50 mm canon II, and the af is definitely better too. The build quality is discreet, plastic above 45 mm samyang, but it costs more. I honestly think this lens was a little mistreated for no real reason. "He doesn't have the surrender of the zeiss"... it costs 1/4, do a little you. |
sent on December 16, 2019 Pros: Quality/price, weight and clutter, blurred, sharpness, color yield... Cons: ... really for 150 coffees do you want to find flaws? Opinion: The premise, I tried it on A7III where the inaccuracy of the af is practically non-existent or at least the experience is not as dramatic as praised by many. It is not lightning but in portraiture behaves with dignity especially I found the eye-af quite accurate. At the level of mechanical noise I tried worse lenses and if on video it could be a problem, in photography it is a totally secondary aspect. Sharpness is too much. I tested it in a study context to medium-intermediate diaphragms and I consider it comparable to my 55 zeiss from this point of view. Maybe not a llama from board to board but for the proposed price, what more do you want? A Sigma Art? Plus it's very light. Plastic construction but of good quality. Taken at less than 150 euros with the black friday is practically gifted. |
sent on December 04, 2019 Pros: Light, great alternative to 28-70 zoom for sharpness, great blurry. Versatile.Price Cons: Plastic effect, inaccurate AF Opinion: All in all a good fifty who does his job, also giving good shots. Tested by me on the Sony A7 with alternate returns due to the lack of precision of the AF solvable with a few more shots however it is some working conditions. Great for human portraits but for the macro I prefer to pair it with a moderate Raynox 150.Versatile and great alternative to the kit zoom that satisfied me little. Bought on offer with black friday at 149 euros: at this price you do not buy anything, that's why I gave 9 as a vote. |
sent on September 17, 2019 Pros: Cost, weight/size, sharpness Cons: Af Opinion: It's the equivalent of the Canon 50 1.8 for Sony, but with bokeh and improved contrast at full opening; likely to be due to the aspheric lens. Very, very sharp to central diaphragms all over the field (landscapes). At full opening you can see how it is optimized for medium long distances (it is not internal focus). Absent distortion, good flare hold. The AF remains its most critical point; it is slow but still usable and precise to open diaphragms. Certainly not suitable for fast-moving subjects. Considering the whole thing deserves the motto -little expense so much yield-. |
sent on May 02, 2019 Pros: Cost, weight, resistance to flare Cons: Autofocus not always reliable Opinion: A fifty that does its job, though not with due speed. Good optically, resists backlighting without making too many stories. Above all it is light, which does not hurt when you have to hike with the shoulder machine. Advised to those who are not in a hurry and can take all the time: otherwise in certain circumstances it is better to give up the AF and go in manual. |
sent on February 24, 2019 Pros: Light weight, small, economical, nice bokeh, good resolution in the center from f2.8, which becomes stellar from F4 to f 5.6. For portraits, the autofocus works fine, including Eye AF: On my Sony A7III no mistake a shot. Cons: Resolution not at the highest level between F 1.8 and F 2.5. Autofocus a bit slow and noisy but on A7III much better than it reads around: It's a widely usable lens like AF. Opinion: My terms of comparison are the Sony 85 FE 1.8 and the Samyang 35mm 1.4 AF FE. Two excellent lenses. The 50 FE is an economic goal, with which you do not get very definite shots at TA, unlike the 85. From F 2.5 However it improves decidedly and does not disfigure compared the elder brother, 85. The resolution in the center then becomes really amazing at intermediate diaphragms, from F4. The edges remain always a little less defined but more than good, even better than the zoom emblazoned. The fuzzy is agreeable; Rather soft and "creamy". I owned the Canon 50 F 1.8 stm: At the level of blurry according to me it is distinctly better than the Sony. The color rendition is very good and neutral, without any particular dominants. It reads everything and more on the autofocus of this lens: on Sony A7III, I repeat, it is not lightning but is in most cases accurate and does its duty. To say, it's not that Samyang AF lenses (I tried the two 35 AF) are all the better. Sometimes he does not catch the subject but with the joystick is a moment bring it back to the right path. The 50 is a focal that I think there must be in a kit. I prefer the 85 for portraits but when the 85 is long I prefer to go to 50 than directly to 35. So if you are looking for a cheap and light 50 to add to the kit, I recommend the purchase. |
sent on January 15, 2019 Pros: Small, economical, bright Cons: At the price of about €200, frankly nothing Opinion: Lens that is new at about €200, and sometimes less if on offer. I don't honestly find such striking flaws considering what is being sold. The construction is not even as bad as it tends to believe (good plastic and a ring of MF all in all Egregia), certainly better than the 35mm Samyang f2.8 (which instead has even the plastic bayonet). The optical yield is sufficient, aligns to the Nikon, and exceeds the Canon consideration. The AF is really lame, besides being particularly noisy. In conclusion, I believe that at the price offered there are no special alternatives, so for owners of Sony A7\\A7II who need the AF, is an obligatory purchase. Of course, if you climb in price is better (starting from the Samyang 50 1.4 AF FE), but even with this you will not be particularly disappointed. But I recommend that you point to the world MF, where you will really be spoilt for choice, starting with the Nikon 50 1.8 D, more artistic and even cheaper. |
sent on January 09, 2019 Pros: Optical rendering, blurred pleasing, compactness, design. Cons: Not internal focus, noisy, kinda plasticous, AF pretty pathetic. Opinion: Cheap and used is still less, the optical yield is satisfactory and I made some photos with this lens that I like a lot, especially portraits. The definition is already good at 1.8, but the autofocus is slow noisy and inaccurate, it is definitely not a lens suitable for professional use, but completely dignified. |
sent on December 03, 2018 Pros: Optical yield, light Cons: Autofocus, construction, price Opinion: Goal with better optical yield than the equivant 50mm in the same price range, but autofocus very slow, noisy and inaccurate even with latest firmware update of the lens (Sony body a7). It does not like the central element that protrudes in the regulation of fire, questionable constructive choice. With Sony alpha 7 it's really hard to shoot with moving subjects. A pity considering the good rendering of the images. It would be to try with newer Sony bodies. Last note the price, 260 degrees are exaggerated for a lens with focus system 20 years ago... |
sent on September 20, 2018 Pros: Ideal for portraits, good brightness Cons: AF Noisy and slow Opinion: I purchased this lens at one of the Rce photo stores for the price of €150 and I tested it on the occasion of a baptism. Nothing to say about the brightness of this optics that allows you to shoot in places with low brightness, as asked precisely, without particular problems. After having tried it in several circumstances I found that it gives the best of if in the portraits, even if thanks to its lightness and compactness it is easily brought to every situation. Unfortunately the autofocus disappointed me as it is annoyingly noisy, especially during the ceremonies, slow and sometimes inaccurate. I state, as always, that I am a novice photographer for which I still use for most of the automatisms of camera body and lens but I expected a better answer from this fixed 50mm f 1.8 that however I always carry with me. It is probably just a matter of practicing and taking our hand with some small defect that for an expense of €150 is more than understandable. |
sent on September 12, 2018 Pros: Lightness and sharpness Cons: AF slightly noisy but acceptable Opinion: Bought a few months ago on Amazon for 150 coffee about and I have to say that (after reading certain reviews) I was pleasantly surprised. The material is plasticous, but it still leaves a good feeling of quality to the touch. Given the material, the lens is very light and comfortable to carry (in a door objective apart, since it is not included). I use it on A7 III and the AF speed is more than acceptable to me, I would say at the same level as the 28-70 in kit. For the price paid I would recommend it, maybe not at the normal price not discounted;) |
sent on September 12, 2018 Pros: Sharpness, compactness Cons: AF Noisy Opinion: I wanted to try this lens alongside my A7III to create a light configuration for street photography. Found with a discount coupon on Amazon, I have to say that the image quality is great. Versatile, lightweight, compact enough. With the firmware update to V. 03 The AF is more than decent. The cons are there, the motor of the focus is noisy, the feeling is that it is a bit plasticky (but still a good material). Overall a great lens especially at this price |
sent on July 18, 2018 Pros: Excellent bokeh, very light, perfect sharpness Cons: AF motor a bit slow Opinion: I'm really glad to have bought this lens, and for its price, I didn't expect so much quality to be honest, and instead... perfect! The only flaws that you notice right away are the slow AF and maybe.. If I had been in "Sony mom" I would have added a lens door in the box. Overall a lens to have absolutely in your kit. |
sent on June 17, 2018 Pros: Good brightness and for some portrait is fine. I use it a lot for video Cons: If you don't use it with a decent body in AF you can complain about the slow focus. (I wrote it succeeds.) Opinion: To use on a6000 bodies on. A7rii on. On A9, A7III, a6500 and A7RIII is very fast, equal to the speed of 28-70 or 35mm 1.8. Always check the firmware and in principle is an excellent purchase around 189 maximum 219. Import or not change anything because the failure rate is almost non-existent. In video at 1.8 is very nice in the picture also but eye to put well in the center what interests more. Bodies to avoid A7r A7s A7s2 A7 A7ii |
sent on November 12, 2017 Pros: Nitrile also to TA, weight, small dimensions Cons: AF very slow, noisy. Opinion: Versatile lens for the figure that costs (comparing with the other sony fe lens) allows you to shoot great photos. If you want to make photos at speed, forget about it because AF is a little painful, it puts a lot of focus on it. To do stilllife shots is perfect because the objects are motionless and you have all the time to focus. As for the sharpness already in TA it is not bad even if in my opinion the best gives it to around 5. All in all if you do not have great pretensions is a good goal |

sent on July 15, 2017 Pros: Lightweight, bright, great haze Cons: Noisy, a bit slow Opinion: The very lightweight lens suitable for the mirrorless for little bullet and weight. A very bright lenses only loud noise and a bit slow, though with the latest firmware upgrade has improved a bit. The stabilizer lacks. The lens is a full frame 50 mm but mounted on a mirrorless with aps-c becomes a 75 mm. |
sent on September 09, 2016 Pros: Crisp, light Cons: autofocus, noisy, cluttered, barrel, price Opinion: The optics is presented optically excellent at all apertures species from f2 onwards. Lightness is also its strength to be evaluated being created to work with weight bodies ridotti.rnLe mournful notes have a higher footprint of 50mm to other mirrorless category especially with the hood mounted, slow autofocus especially those who practice the street, high noise autofocus, low-level plastic barrel and unacceptable price, compared with € 120 you buy the canon 50mm F1.8 stm with the same characteristics. |
