sent on August 23, 2023 Pros: Build quality, sharpness, AF Cons: Weight Opinion: Left mounted on the A7rIII(A) it performs very well on almost all occasions, difficult to want more from an f:4 all-rounder. The only limit, for me, is the bulk, which on a body like the aforementioned A7rIII leads to an interference between the fingers of the right hand and the end of the lens, and I have small hands ... This has as a secondary effect a decrease in operating speed, nothing exceptional, but in my opinion it is better to report it. The yield is very good at almost all focal lengths (yields a little to 105) in some cases higher than fixed lenses of the same level. the AF is fast, the F:4 aperture is not so limiting and benefits weight and bulk. For me it is worth all the money it costs. |
sent on April 05, 2023 Pros: Sharp, well stabilized, solid. Indistinguishable, in terms of result, from fixed focal lengths. Cons: Lack of diaphragm ring, heaviness (but it is justified by robustness). Opinion: I've owned it for about a year, and it's surprisingly good, on both the A7 III and A7R III. It is relatively bulky and heavy, but the body is metallic and properly built, so this can be forgiven. I don't think there are equivalent lenses for Sony that offer that much. The price is a bit high, but with Sony it is so. Uato can be a great deal. |

sent on January 20, 2023 Pros: High quality all-rounder Cons: Suffers the 61 mp Opinion: I have always had this type of lens in my previous Canon and Nikon kits, so I considered it essential, for my way of photographing, to have this 24-105. In my opinion, on a constructive level it is practically a GM, but we will see over time if it can be compared to Sony's high series. Very fast and accurate AF. On the 24 mp is really good and returns sharp images with pleasant colors ... On the 61 MP it loses something in sharpness, especially at maximum focal length. Fair price if you find it at 1000 euros, beyond it is perhaps a bit 'too much. Definitely to have in the kit and not as an alternative to the various 24-70 2.8, but in my view, complementary. Vote 9. |
sent on October 21, 2022 Pros: Versatility! Excellent yield and also a nice bokeh if pushed to 105mm Cons: Frankly for the price I can not find any Opinion: I took this lens in kit with the A7iii, thinking to become familiar with my first sony and then change it with something more performing... Well I've already changed the A7iii, but I'm not going to part with this goal. It has a yield and an optical quality of all respect! Now I use it with A7iv and A9 and I am very satisfied! Surely there are more performing optics, but if you need an all-rounder, which you never disassemble during a service (something not to be underestimated for machines with exposed sensor) and that always gives you excellent results in all light conditions, well he is for you. Not too heavy, not too bulky. Taken in kit has an even better value for money ... (I took it with cashback on the whole package with the A7III) |
sent on October 09, 2022 Pros: Sharpness in center, focal range, construction, stars, focus Cons: chromatic aberations, cost, not the top for flares, weight, slightly loses at the edges Opinion: It is a beautiful piece of glass, offers versatility and good sharpness all with a very good focal range that makes it a really good choice for landscape photography. Unfortunately the price, beyond the materials and performance in AF that are exceptional, I can not justify it. The biggest problem in my opinion are the chromatic aberrations, they are really many and intrusive, even in PP they become difficult to remove, especially in parts with a lot of difference in dynamic range, at the edges, something that I have never seen so intrusive in any other lens, even on lenses literally bottle bottoms. However, if you do not shoot in situations of strong against light the problem fades a lot. Another problem encountered is the flare tightness, unfortunately it does not hold them very well, and they are very intrusive. For everything else it is a fantastic lens, it has an incredible sharpness, perhaps it loses a little bit at the extremes both on the short side and on the long side, but still nothing disabling and nothing that you notice assuming that you do not go to 200%. At the edges it loses a little, but in the end which optics does not lose something at the edges? Overall it is an excellent all-rounder, and with such a focal excursion I do not think you can expect much better, it is a lens to keep always attached to the camera body, and its work does it well but with some small compromise that can be remedied. |
sent on March 30, 2022 Pros: sharpness, weight, focal range, precise and fast AF. Cons: maybe slightly expensive. Opinion: I was pleasantly surprised by this lens, very versatile and despite not being in the GM category I must say very sharp at all focal lengths (maybe it loses a little at 105). Excellent color rendering; to be a slow Handyman I would say that there is little better. maybe the price slightly (I repeat only slightly) high. Robust, precise and quick to focus. |
sent on July 06, 2021 Pros: versatile lens, very sharp in general, absolutely valid colors and yield, AF valid Cons: soft if taken to the extreme, then in TA and at 105mm. Good construction but not very good Opinion: he is my handyman, an indispensable focal point and who, in many cases, saves you from critical situations. For the kind of optics that is the fact that it's F4 it's not a big limit until the evening but if coupled to a camera that holds well it's a sword goes. It doesn't cost cheap but it gives what it asks. Soft in TA, soft above 95mm, but at the bottom it is a zoom. It doesn't weigh much but with a focal point like that it's there. The autofocus button or the oss button (now I don't remember well) have softened me but I use it in the field ... a focal point that I would buy back without hesitation. |

sent on May 20, 2021 Pros: Fast AF, sharpness Cons: very high price Opinion: I recently bought this lens to have a quality all-rounder.' The build quality is good, but nothing as great as I had read in some reviews. Overall I am quite satisfied especially with the quality and sharpness of the lens. The price is very high ! At that price I expected much more. |
sent on March 06, 2021 Pros: Build quality, image quality, fast and quiet AF. Cons: Nobody Opinion: I recently bought this lens to have an all-round lens to use during the "photo walks", it surprised me positively for the overall quality. Excellent sharpness for a 24-105 zoom, fast and precise AF, the bokeh is pleasant, stabilization ok, good flare hold. Overall I am more than satisfied. |
sent on January 13, 2021 Pros: The one in my possession excels in everything and showed no flaws. Cons: Size and weight if I mount it on the old Sony Nex7, but proportionate on the A7II which has an adequate handle. Opinion: A truly exceptional zoom on all points of view. I did several trials with tripods and discovered a surprising sharpness, never found in the optics in my possession and in those I have had over time; I have to say even better than some fixed ones that don't have mobile groups with great excursions inside like a zoom. An all-round 24-105mm lens that allows you to take 90% of the photos and that, thanks to excellent stabilization, you rarely get unwanted move. Impeccable in construction, fast and quiet autofocus, this zoom gives images with great colors and as a focal excursion definitely beats the 24-70mm version that makes the lack of those 35mm feel too much. The cost, for the quality it offers, I think is appropriate. Recommended 9.9 rating! |
sent on April 26, 2020 Pros: He excels in everything but has two flaws Cons: About two specimens I tried ... Read below Opinion: On two specimens that I tried the stabilizer corrects well but always remains an annoying residual move visible in the videos, in other words "takes away the bulk" of the movements by hand, but something micro remains. Another problem, but you can not get around, even if there are internal and LR profiles that correct the distortion, iIN GRANDANGOLO and at medium and short distances this is not enough. The result is too elongated subjects at the edges. Beautiful colors (typical sony but this one has a beautiful complexion and is above the average of G), nice bokeh when used in canvases. Absolutely versatile. Impeccable construction, suitable for intensive and professional use. Is it worth 1000 euros and passes what it costs? If you have to take advantage of it, you probably will. |
sent on January 11, 2020 Pros: Great all-rounder, thrust and effective tropicalization, selectors stabilizing and af on goal, sharp with good resistance to the flare. Cons: Zoom ghiera too rigid and with long range, lens size at 105mm exaggerated, distortion at 24mm high (very small in PS), at 24mm the size of the possible screw filter must be contained anltritis invade the framed field losing mm. Opinion: The lens is all to do that covers a lot of needs and that is in fact what for practicality you always carry with you. I was impressed by its tropicalization, 30 minutes of rain pushing mixed snow and thermal jump in the car without any particular consequences. Autofocus fast and very precise to all focal and blurry appreciable at 105mm for portraits. Sharp and with good resistance to flare, ok colors without praise. To be used is cumbersome and rigid in the variation of the focal, probably due to the thrust tropicalization, a problem that is amplified by the size of the Body A7 that do not offer the right support compared to the action that is done on the target. It would be useful to have an additional grip on the machine body. At 24 mm you can only mount a screw filter and small size otherwise it invades the image. |
sent on January 04, 2020 Pros: sharpness, excursion up to 105, speed af Cons: Size Opinion: I am very happy with this slow, sharp and well built. the distortion is very limited to all focal lengths, the af is very quiet and very fast. it's worth everything it costs, even more. too bad just for its size, which in my opinion worsens a bit the compactness of Sony's ML system. In conclusion, a view that I would buy again tomorrow! |
sent on December 28, 2019 Pros: Great all-rounder, well built, tropicalized, robust, good focal excursion, excellent AF Cons: Plastic lampshade, lens not very light and still overpriced Opinion: I use it with an A7RIV and I almost always get good results. The minimum diaphragm is not a problem because the stabilization is great. It is an irreplaceable travel companion, without serious defects. I just vignette a little bit. It suffers a bit of flare and it is better to avoid the extreme backlit, but this is something that applies with every zoom |
sent on December 21, 2019 Pros: Sharpness, focal excursion, 9-blade diaphragm, tropicalized, not very heavy Cons: nothing if it is used for the purposes for which it was designed (travel-reportage)... if then with this lens you make other specific genres like macros then... Opinion: Anyone who has spoken ill of this lens that I have been using for more than a year, or has never tried it thoroughly or has had a faulty copy in hand. To be an F4 excels in almost everything... In my opinion, it's one of Sony's best-successful lenses. Great for those who travel a lot and don't want to carry an arsenal... Along with this lens in fact, it is enough only a wide angle possibly bright as the 16-35 F2.8 GMaster and you are covered for 95% of travel photos. Also great for reporting in general. In short, I would change it only and exclusively for the new Sigma 24-70 f2.8 FE but I already know that I would probably regret it... I'll think about it... Over-recommended to all those who want high quality and do not want too many pounds on their shoulders when they are traveling... those 35mm more than a 24-70 really make a difference... |
sent on October 12, 2019 Pros: stabilized, tropicalized, feeling solid Cons: External zoom, plastic, sharpness, af Opinion: I thought I made a deal after years of only fixed lenses but I couldn't find the feeling with this 24-105. In theory, for me, who only do street and photography of trips and portraits, it had to be ideal. With a single lens having so many focal points it was beautiful. However, I tried two and with my 3 machines (A7s, A7sII, A7rII) and the impressions were the same. Nothing stratospheric in terms of sharpness and especially at 105mm. The f4 opening in some of the drops of my way of doing photography was limiting. Weight and footprint didn't make me feel comfortable. The speed and accuracy of the Af did not seem to me to be a reference. Probably this last aspect with the III series machines is better but with my no. Well done, solid though plastic, a sea of useful focals but.............. I'm thinking of selling it. Ms |
sent on May 22, 2019 Pros: Stabilization, image quality, sharpness, AF, construction, tropicalization Cons: Opinion: And the best standard lens and also all do to have as a first lens despite being at F 4 starting. Having one more step up to 105 helps. The construction is very good and compact and has a balanced weight. Stabilization and a plus. AF Fast and accurate does not mistake a shot. Sharp already at F4, but for me the best comes from F 8 to F 16. Good management of flare. |
sent on May 22, 2019 Pros: Focus-sharpness-nice blur (for an F/4)-absence of chromatic aberrations-well-controlled distortion-tropicalization-Excellent stabilizer Cons: Size and weight-zoom ring a little stiff-compromise lens, but already you know when you buy it Opinion: Build quality: (9/10) Although we appreciate the quality of the materials and the design of the first Sony-Zeiss lenses, even in this G-series lens, very few criticisms can be moved. It's built like a rock. Heavy (but less than the other 24-105 or 24-120 Nikon, Canon, Sigma, Panasonic), does not overbalance the machine, but still those who seek compactness, look elsewhere. Important dimensions with lens hood mounted. Good construction materials, well made pairs. A little stiff in scrolling the zoom ring, which however prevents the zoom to lengthen when it is brought upside down. AUTOFOCUS: (10/10) frankly difficult to ask for more. With A7R III quick and precise focus. Key on the programmable barrel for special shooting modes (you can assign the Eye AF or an entire set of custom parameters to be activated when pressing the button, very interesting). Even in low light, I consider myself satisfied. But I must say, for intellectual honesty, that I have never really tested it in challenging situations. Manual focus very comfortable and precise in combination with the Focus assistant Sony image quality: (9.5/10) from a zoom handyman I think it is very difficult to do better. Universal focal Range (of course it was-120 would have been better, but we are uncontentable!). Excellent sharpness at all focal lengths (indispensable feature for a handyman, needless to have extended focal ranges if then over 70mm becomes soft) and especially at all openings (indispensable for a "dark" lens that will often be used to TA even in cases Other than the portrait and then you want sharpness all over the frame). Optically very correct from the point of view of chromatic aberrations and distortion (although sometimes these corrections are reached via software). To TA and to the longest focal even the blurred becomes pleasant, obviously without comparisons impossible with lenses with more generous openings. With the stabilizer then it allows me to shoot at 1/5 second freehand with a percentage of photos in focus of about 60-70%, really remarkable. Occasionally I took home even photos at 1 second exposure, when I had a chance to lean somewhere... Discrete magnifying capacity for photo-like macro PRICE: (9/10) high, but not in an unjustified way. Costs what it cost to list the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm F/4g ED VR that qualitatively is not comparable, obviously more of the Sigma 24-105mm F/4 OS DG HSM, €100 more of the Canon EF 24-105mm F/4l IS USM II which however is lower, €50 less than the Panasonic LUMIX S 24-105mm F /4L Macro OIS Lens. That then street price are different depends on many things (release date, market demand and company policies). In Truth it seems to me properly priced for the type and quality of the lens, they also begin to find themselves used interesting. CONCLUSION: Although not perfect (for a short while!) I find that this lens really has the features that are usually found in the "professional" 24-70 f 2.8 zooms, but with a less stop and a broader focal range. It is up to us to decide which of the two characteristics we need the most, from the point of view of image quality We do not renounce anything. |
sent on May 20, 2019 Pros: Discrete optical quality, even exaggerated construction Cons: Devastating price, hard zoom ring, tenting AF in interior Opinion: In my way of seeing things is a lens that doesn't make sense. Over €1200 for a heavy, bulky zoom, with fixed brightness at F4, when at just over half the price there is the Tamron 28-75 2.8? For goodness sake the construction is enviable, as usual Sony on the series G \ \ GM does not make you wish better. However the price is too high, and the lens is not free from defects. With light down the AF is lame, but it is still an F4. Although silent in fact, I realized how to face a little ' too up and down indoors, and a lens so expensive can not afford it. The zoom ring is also excessively friction. Accomplice this "tropicalization" of which everyone goes crazy, which then to the practical act destroys the usability of the rings for zooming (except where this happens internally), having to force things to seal as much as possible the cracks. On a zoom like that frankly I would have avoided, so as to facilitate the sliding of the cylinder. In conclusion the optical quality is discrete, the construction is Egregia, but in the end the usability is low. Accomplice an important weight, an AF that given the opening has its limits, a challenging zoom ring to rotate for hours and hours, and a price not competitive, make for me a lens to avoid. If you want to spend €1200 for the "Zoommone Tuttofare" to take you on a trip to make photos to Uncle Peppino that makes the chop in full sun, then this optics can very well satisfy you. But for professional needs, where you can not buy the 24-70 GM, you have to be masochistic to prefer this to the Tamron 28-75. |
sent on April 10, 2019 Pros: Color Resolution, fast and reliable AF, flare management, proper price. Cons: Weight Opinion: I have been using it for several months and it has never disappointed me. I use it at 50% of the focal ranges I stretch; The other is the 70-200 F/4 which did not disappoint me, indeed. As color resolution and restitution, I think is excellent, an AF that does not disappoint to 90% using it on A7 III. The weight An excessive attempt to be an F/4, but as length is well balanced on the A7, maybe with the grip or BG. Before the purchase I had compared with the 24-70 F/4 the various reviews and opinions that advised this model and although more expensive I have not regretted it at all |
sent on April 10, 2019 Pros: Building quality images feeling great building customizable key Cons: If it had been 2.8 would have been the greatest, me was unthinkable to 1200 euros Opinion: A great optics, ideal all to do for the trip, well built scales well with my a7rII return of beautiful images (excellent resolution held to flare beautiful colors) The optics weighs the right, certainly to prefer to 24 70, if he had a little of Extra brightness would be a perfect optics but the price is more than correct for the overall quality returned. |
sent on April 08, 2019 Pros: High quality Lens. Cons: Not really very light. Opinion: Bought recently but I already had the way to observe the excellent quality of the lenses and mechanics. Feeling of great solidity. The quality of the images, videos in particular, are excellent. I consider It an ideal destination for travel, enough for almost any kind of photography or shooting. Maybe wanting to look for a flaw is a little dark. |
sent on March 01, 2019 Pros: Versatility, weight, quality Cons: Zoom Hike Opinion: Excellent handyman with a low weight. For my needs (and skills) the optical quality is more than good. I took it to replace the 24-70 F4. The ring nuts are precise and very comfortable: the customizable button is a plus. Combined with the A7 III it behaves very well species in AF-C and in the burst; Good blurred it to be an F4. The only defect found is that at 105 mm, given the zoom excursion, becomes a bit ' bulky and flashy. |
user128541 ![]() ![]() | sent on January 14, 2019 Pros: Consistent body and not overly heavy, good focal length range a good handyman both in studio photos, and in quite versatile exterior! Cons: Lens hood a bit plasticous, desirable an aperture of f/2.8 Opinion: Finding myself on the road and for weight and encumbrance I had following on my Sony Alfa 6500 a 18/35 Sigma equipped with MC-11 Canon-Sony and given the limited focal I could not get shots sufficiently close, so in Hamburg I decided to commute My Sigma 18-35 with this Sony 24-105 I am fully satisfied with the beautiful Boke, in the closeups I hope as soon as you attach photos made with this lens! Good light at all! |
sent on October 13, 2018 Pros: Build quality, image quality, Fast and quiet AF, excellent range of focal lengths. Cons: Wide Zoom Stroke. Opinion: I took this lens in anticipation of a trip, for which my 24-70 would have been a bit short. I feared for the image quality, given the excellent copy of my 24-70 really a razor, but in the end I have to say that I was very happy with this 24-105, the sharpness is excellent here too, the weight is not excessive, The stabilizer works fine and is in good Substance a great handyman on my A7-III. The blur is very pleasant, sharp angle to corner, surely I have not regretted the change, I recommend it to anyone who wants a zoom from the excellent performance without spending excessively, surely not disappoint. |
sent on April 10, 2018 Pros: Good weight-focus AF very fast and Silenziona-excellent all do Cons: No defect found Opinion: I bought this optics to have a lens all do to use at any junks and in my travels. At the moment from what I pototo try has proved a good lens with excellent features, I find the button on the barrel that blocks the focus. It behaves well at both 24mm and 105mm. I found no flaws in my specimen while having had a certain fear in the Acquuisto I was very impressed. The lens has good angle light from angle to corner. The broken is nice and has good sharpness on the whole. The price is good and I think that Sony has clearly bridged the gaps of 24-70 F4 with this extraordinary lens. |
sent on April 04, 2018 Pros: clarity, weight, speed and low noise AF Cons: AC light in some cases but easily removable Opinion: I'm trying for a short time, at first impression, it looks really a view up to the price high enough that is sold. As a comparison I have ever had the 24-120 Nikon and Sigma 24-105 (optics in my opinion excellent and superior to Nikon). I must say that already at F4 the sony is really sharp at all focal lengths, even at the edges (tested on Sony A7iii). In the qualities we'd put the answer in autofocus and the silence of the same, really impressive, excellent balance and the smaller burden, good overall construction and stabilizer effectively. In a few minor flaws, and I noticed a visible vignetting at the extreme edges at 24 mm f4 (I'm talking about RAW as well as shot with no lens correction enabled profile) which disappears almost completely by mounting filters and lens hoods (I think they calculated), obvious that if you enable the automatic fix everything disappears and the image is perfectly correct in terms of distortion, which anyway is not excessive. In strong light you can see a bit of chromatic aberration, well below the Nikon but slightly higher than the Sigma. Obviously in this case by applying the lens profiles of LR and AC, it disappears. Overall I think this is the best 24-105 F4 that crossed his hands, thank goodness because the price is not low. |
sent on February 24, 2018 Pros: Price sharpness weight Cons: Excessive external zoom travel Opinion: I bought this lens to replace in 24 70 fe zeiss f4 that, opening a parenthesis, in 2 years of work of various kinds I can say that in the price / quality ratio is one of the worst optics of all time. Having therefore had the zeiss f 4 for 2 years go to this zoom all doing was a leap in quality. The autofocus (precise even if not very fast) the image quality in general and the manual focus ring are not even comparable to the Zeiss F4. It really comes into focus here. Both on the A7S and R and on the A9 the image quality in general or excellent. Even the boken is pleasant despite the limit to f4. I noticed, also owning the 28 135 f4, that both the latest Sony lenses have in common a boken really nice despite precisely the lack of more intense openings. Is not it tropicalized? Well it costs only 1350 euros! rnVignette and distorts at the edges? Well and a 24 105 zoom and not a fixed one. Moral: you want an optics to do everything for pro photos and video use with a fair performance at a decidedly accexible? With sony mirrorless the choice is forced on this view. If you then complain about the vignetting at the edges and the deformation to 24mm well then I recommend: never buy a zoom 24 105. Compared to the more dated but emblazoned canon 24 105 f4 the yield in general and much higher but both have those flaws that each zoom of the genus ha.rnThe sony is extraordinarily silent and the stabilizer is very responsive and well balanced. The external focus zoom stroke is very pronounced and at 105 l optics it looks like a medium telephoto. And even more limited than the race of 24 70 f 2.8 Gmaster, an optics with a good lens but that frankly for the 2500 euros that costs is not worth the purchase. I'm very satisfied with this 24 105 f4 that does not betray the expectations in terms of foreseeable defects but that amazed me for the sharpness of the image and softness in the boken. Weight in the average. |
sent on February 07, 2018 Pros: excellent build quality, fast and silent AF, stabilizer, versatile focal range, weight and size not excessive, very good image quality Cons: variability between copies (on three copies tested, one was defective) Opinion: I tried three copies of this lens, the first in test at a Sony presentation (on A7rIII) and the second one bought personally (then replaced by a third). The build quality is excellent; the AF is extremely silent and fast; is equipped with stabilizer and the focal range is perfect for the fullframe, but very good even on an APS-C, when combined with a wide-angle zoom. Even the weight and size are not excessive, making it a great travel zoom. I found, however, variability between the copies: the first I tried was really good, clear from corner to corner at all focal lengths, even at f / 4. The second one, to say the least, was mediocre: at some focal length the sharpness "came and went" in different areas of the frame, and to others focusing on the left side the right side went out of focus, probable signal of an offset lens or however faulty. The shop where I bought it replaced the faulty copy with a new copy, which proved to be much better, inline with the first I had tried at the Sony presentation. The sharpness is very good at all focal lengths; the main defects are distortion and vignetting, both quite marked but still correctable via software. |
