sent on January 01, 2023 Pros: Solid weight and construction, compactness, sharpness, 1.4 9-blade diaphragm, very pleasant blur, good flare resistance, price Cons: Perhaps the lack of stabilizer, hood not really stable Opinion: A truly superb goal, a bit like the whole new Sigma series. An excellent alternative to standard zooms, to always carry with you to have fun and play with open apertures in reportage and street photography. Its effective focal length on apsc of 45mm f2.0 makes it in practice a poor 50ino, more or less equal to the view of the human eye. Light and compact, silent and precise autofocus, used on Sony A5100 did not miss a shot, impressive sharpness already at 1.4 and blurred with very pleasant detachment when making close-ups and half-length portraits. A lens that for what it costs offers so much, also the reduced weight and compact size, make it a real companion for every outing and portraits even indoors. Too bad the lack of stabilizer, but with the new sensors stabilized in the room the problem does not arise. Highly recommended! |
sent on October 05, 2022 Pros: Weight, compactness, color rendering, f1.4 aperture, versatility. Cons: Low-light focus. Chromatic aberration in rare cases. Opinion: Assuming that I still consider myself a neophyte, this was the first non-kit lens I took. I did everything, with a focal length equivalent to 45mm FF you really do everything and I used it a lot, in all light conditions, at any time. Beyond all the merits, sharpness at full aperture, colors, bokeh, flare content that when there is garba me. I found only two annoyances more than saying problems: the not very reliable focus in low light conditions that leads me to go to MF, and in the backlight in well-lit conditions the chromatic aberration comes out that when there is noticeable. Given the quality-price ratio of the used (220 € used shop) convinced me to also take the 16mm and point to complete the set with the 56mm. |
sent on November 16, 2021 Pros: beautiful colors and image rendering , beautiful bokeh Cons: mistakes every now and then the focus with macro objects , not stabilized , heavy Opinion: beautiful lens is giving me so much satisfaction with my a6000ha the rendering of the image with a perfect bokeh a little heavy and bulky but very suitable for the portrait image beautiful sin that is not stabilized and for macro objects wrong focus in the rest is a sniper rifle suitable for those who want the maximum yield in detail |
sent on September 17, 2021 Pros: Sharpness, brightness, blurred, price Cons: I would say none Opinion: Sometimes the AF goes a few forwards in the back but really minimal. I think it's due to a back engineering that can be improved but it has never limited me in use. I was impressed by its sharpness (since it is not an ART) and the quality of the photos. In my opinion it is a moment quality / price and I do not think I will ever get rid of it. In RAW there is no distortion but certainly the fixed ones are less affected. The blurry is very creamy and I love it. In low light conditions it behaves very well and even at full aperture it behaves very well. |
sent on September 01, 2021 Pros: Sharpness, weight, compactness, price Cons: Autofocus not very fast especially in low light, chromatic aberrations in strong backlight Opinion: For the price at which I paid it (270 € used but practically new from the online store), exceptional lens alongside my old a6000, an exceptional leap in quality compared to the Sony kit lens. I needed a focal length that would allow me to be serene even when the light drops and at the moment I do not feel the great need to have a zoom lens. Sharpness already good at 1.4, becomes excellent from f2.8 onwards. Used as a travel lens (city, mountain, sea) and I must say that it gave me really beautiful shots, without ever being a focal length too wide or too narrow. Good management of the flare, he sinned only in full backlight (and not even with showy or intrusive flare). The cons are known, already listed by other users, but they do not make me at the moment think of giving away this excellent goal. |
sent on May 21, 2021 Pros: Sharpness, openness, price, lightness Cons: They say the not perfect autofocus Opinion: Unbeatable value for money, a practical lens that offers many satisfactions, in different areas. Really a lens that knows how to give great satisfaction, the sharpness is remarkable. I sold it with regret, because I preferred to switch to a zoom lens, certainly more versatile, leaves a big void. Many of my favorite photos I took with this lens |
sent on April 05, 2021 Pros: Lightness, optical quality, robust, value for money, f 1.4 Cons: In my case optics sent to assistance for problems with the diaphragm that were then solved. Opinion: Taken used by rce Tito Livio in Padua I only had a problem with the diaphragm not working properly. The lens is light, solid, in short, it conveys a good feeling. The optical quality is very good, in my opinion already usable at full opening (from f 2 to f4 from the best for portraits)with pleasant bokeh. In the landscape from f 8 to f11 to have maximum detail on the entire frame. Replaced with the Sony 18-135 just for zoom convenience. |
sent on December 27, 2020 Pros: Weight, sharpness Cons: Autofocus not very fast in low light conditions Opinion: Starting from the cost-quality factor I believe there is no better lens to combine with a Sony APSC mirrorless. I use it on an A6000 and now it is the perfect lens for my genre. For street and portraits set I don't think you can find better. A formidable lens in every respect. Closing the diaphragm has exceptional clarity. Although even at 1.4-1.8 you have interesting shots. I think it's a lens to have in your backpack if you have a Sony APSC. I didn't notice chromatic aberrations in my specimen. |

user210403 ![]() ![]() | sent on September 23, 2020 Pros: Price, general yield Cons: To be fussy... autofocus not very fast and hint at chromatic aberration in certain situations Opinion: For what it costs, it's hard to find fault. It is very usable already at f1.4, in the center is already enough sharp, the edges a little less. At f2 you see a first general increase in yield, which increases slightly to f2.8 and then to f4, especially at the edges. f4 to f5.6 changes little. Wanting to be a little fussy, in certain light situations especially at full opening you notice the color aberration tending to purple, but it is not something particularly noticeable or annoying. if I hadn't known, I wouldn't have noticed at all. The autofocus on sony apsc is average... It's not slow, but it's not very fast either. Soon I'll also use it for sports photos, then I'll update |
sent on June 16, 2020 Pros: Good sharpness at 1.4, outstanding at 2.8. Compactness, solid lampshade, bokeh, brightness, aesthetically very well done, PRICE. Cons: The only relevant flaw are the full-opening chromatic aberrations in strong backlight, both purple and green, and which to be corrected can sometimes split the contours. Closing the diaphragm, which should almost always be done since at 1.4 the pdc can contain a sole at most, the problem is greatly reduced. The color yield is slightly more "cold" than the Canon 32mm 1.4 but nothing that can not be solved with a good color profile in development, and then it still costs half or maybe less... Opinion: Bought as a portrait optics/all-rounder for a Canon M50, with its equivalent 45mm type it behaves really well and is worth all the money spent, which was really few (200 euros) for a used that looked new. At 1.4 it allows you to keep isO low in situations of low light (the aps-c you know that they suffer from high ISO) sacrificing a bit of sharpness that at all opening is already good. Closing a few stops becomes sharp. Given the focus, you can really do anything. Among the few photos I have uploaded, if you feel like and time to look at us, you will find quite disparate examples of the possible applications of this lens. Recommended across the board. |
sent on March 29, 2020 Pros: Very sharp, a blade, bokeh. Cons: chromatic aberrations at all-open Opinion: Used for a year on a sony alpha 6000, well what to say, pretty solid plastic, very light, ideal for streetphotography. Always sharp even at full opening where, however, he suffers from aberrations. To more closed diaphragms by the maximum, very sharp and beautiful contrasts. I recommend it for those who prefer the street and for portraits set. |
sent on February 06, 2019 Pros: A razor blade crisp, well built, autofocus in the reactive norm behaves well, excellent bokeh. Cons: I noticed (but only in the area of bokeh) that in strong backlight mentions abberration Opinion: Taken to street and portrait and I can tell you that behaves well, even with its fixed focal 30mm is well calibrated for shooting like that on my 4/3 becomes a 60mm. Light but well built clear from part of the frame, focus fast and reactive (then you have to see on what body you mount it), blurred very well balanced and soft still stems well from the close-ups. 1.4 Bright to the point of resuming interiors with little light at 250 ISO at 30/60. What to say I spent €300 (including Lens hood) I think it will not leave my kit anymore. Sometimes Sigma surprises me,... the more I watch it on my Oly 1 mark II and pi I like it. |
user163281 ![]() ![]() | sent on September 18, 2018 Pros: Crisp, excellent micro-contrast solvent, robust and well-assembled, fast and accurate autofocus with the latest firmware update Cons: Nobody Opinion: Great goal, a real handyman. Improved a lot with the latest firmware update (03) both in precision and speed. Quietly comparable with the native Sony optics in reading and following the multiple autofocus points (contrast and phase). Microcontrast, sharpness and the ability to squeeze the resolute sensors (24MP) make it one of the best optics to pair and have with Sony's miroless APS-C. Recommended. |
sent on July 09, 2018 Pros: Excellent sharpness, beautiful bokeh, perfect AF, build quality, lightweight Cons: Not stabilized, focus ring too "light" to turn (IMHO) Opinion: I repeat the same concepts I wrote for the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN C: As the sister lens of the Contemporary series, this lens is outstanding in terms of sharpness, brightness and, after the firmware upgrade to V. 3, the AF is also fast and accurate. The construction is solid and pleasant: wanting to find the hair in the egg, I find that the manual focus ring is a bit ' too soft to turn, resulting for me a little ' less precise (on 16mm For example this "defect" does not exist). But it's just my impressions of use. Note: On the Sigma site there is a firmware update for this lens that improves the AF. I recommend the installation. |
sent on April 18, 2018 Pros: The usual wonderful optical quality of Sigma. The price. Cons: The usual indecent Sigma electronics. It distorts a little. Opinion: As a Nikon user I had, used and tested a lot of Sigma optics. The only optics left in my kit is the wonderful 35 art and it is also not free from defects. But I love it and I keep it. I was very intrigued by the younger brother for the Sony system and I wanted to take it. Superlative in optical quality, it can be sharper than the 35 art at the edges at any aperture. Obviously tested both on a6000. And that definitely surprised me. What I have not surprised is the uncertain behavior of AF. In the Single-shot AF to infinity mode is too fallacious. In that continuous AF fortunately it fades. I do not think it is a problem of my a6000 since the Sony optics are not wrong a shot in any mode. In conclusion It is the lens that despite its flaws I practically never break. With its opening of 1.4 it allows to be creative in many photographic typologies. Very recommended lens But like all sigmas you hardly find the perfect specimen. |
sent on February 19, 2018 Pros: Sharpness (even at TA), fairly creamy bokeh. Solid construction with metal attachment and light screen. Af precise. Cons: Slightly distorts, no stabilization (for video it can be a problem if you don't have stabilization on the sensor), size, ta aberrations Opinion: Excellent lens for set and street portraits. Quite noticeable distortion especially if you make close-ups (which is obvious because it is still a 30mm). On the a6000 it is slightly unbalanced (not so much for weight, but for generous size). The absence of stabilization is felt if you make videos or taken freehand at night with long times. |
sent on March 03, 2017 Pros: optical quality, light (1.4), bokeh, construction, AF, value for money Cons: Focal which it is not common in portraiture by lenses Opinion: A lens that is worth much more than it costs, and, in my opinion, a must-have for those who love portraiture and m4 / 3.rnLa construction is quite good and, as he always does Sigma, the glass is provided with its hood. Dimensions fully compatible with the system (265 grams for just over 7 cm in length), fast and accurate AF. Coming to the IQ, the target TA (1.4) allows you to take beautiful portraits at a blurry soft and gradual and the subject well detached from the background. Closed then at 2.8, the lens becomes a true blade (more than 80 lines per millimeter: 83.8 to f4!): Absolutely the most resolvent of the fixed system. Chromatic aberrations are virtually absent (a little bit in certain situations with strong contrast to TA: nothing special), the very neutral color rendition, good microcontrast. If we consider that the price is around 320 €, it is understood as the optical value is significantly higher than the cost. Here, wanting to find fault, the 60mm equivalent of full size is a focal & quot; strange ", usually it used more as you like Macro lens portraiture vocation. But I find it perfect for m4 / 3, as the 5mm facilitate more blurred than the classic 25 (50 on full frame). |
sent on November 09, 2016 Pros: Crisp, light, well-built, fully open, price. Cons: Autofocus sometimes indecisive, especially af 1.4. Opinion: Purchased with an offer very convenient on amazon, I must say this sigma has proved a wonderful discovery. Light and very crisp, with Sony alpha 6000 as a pair vincente.rnIl hood was included in the package, as opposed to what reported in the data sheet of the flaw forum.rnUnica, autofocus sometimes has some indecision, especially at full aperture. however objective recommended, suitable for all uses for its very versatile focal. |
