Pros: Practicality with few limits

Cons: NN

Opinion: Definitively returned to Nikon DSLR after a love-hate story ended badly with ML camera of a famous APS-C brand, for the needs of portability in holiday or Sunday raids, I decided to buy this device, aware of its physical limitations. Excellent AF features, eye recognition, people recognition, trouble-free tracking and finally responsive display. On the quality of the files and the resistance to noise at high sensitivities, as a professional accustomed to D5 that does not bend up to impossible iso, perhaps a bit noisy from 1600-2000 iso, but more than acceptable for the type of use. Body and optics kit fantastic combination, I thought it was lighter and more fragile, but it is nice and substantial. The menus, as a Nikon user since always (we are talking about the 80s film) have not changed substantially but, like all entry level cameras, some settings are to be found in the menus and are not relegated to physical buttons as on D5, but we are talking about another planet. Also the video side is absolutely not bad for the use for which it is designed. Final grade: a nice well-deserved 9.

Pros: Ergonomics, lightness, compactness, articulated screen, button position, menu, display, charging via USB-C while in use

Cons: Lack of viewfinder

Opinion: I've been using the z50 for almost a year but it didn't convince me and so I took the z30, I have to say that there are small improvements that make you appreciate it a lot, such as the addition of various functions more than the z50 on the menu. The display in my opinion is better, slightly longer battery life, the "display" and "+/-" keys are better placed on the z30 and easier to use even in winter with gloves. If they had put the viewfinder on it would have been perfect. Rated 9!

Pros: File quality, light weight, autofocus, ISO tightness, responsiveness and battery life more than enough

Cons: You have to commit to finding a fault, the articulated display I found practical even in bright conditions

Opinion: He left for a trip to Madrid with Z30+16-50 and Ricoh GRIII, leaving home (thinking he was wrong) the Z6+24-70. But I wanted to leave light, since it was August 12th and the destination was not among the coolest areas of the planet ... During the first day I used it, under the scorching sun, turning it on only when I decided to shoot for fear that a single battery would not last me all day. In the evening, needless to say, I still had all the notches available... So the following days I used it without thinking about the battery and in the evening I never arrived with the battery empty, indeed I always saw all the notches, compared to about 150-200 daily shots. More than enough battery if you have the possibility to charge it at night. The real "surprise", however, came when I imported photos into Lightroom, just a few tweaks to brightness and exposure to make them perfect and this feeling had never happened to me, neither with Z6, nor with Ricoh GRIII, nor with D810 / 700 ... ISO hold also promoted, maintains an excellent detail even at 4000 ISO, more on I have not yet happened to have to shoot and with modern software miracles are done. 20mpx seems few by today's standards, but they are more than adequate for printing souvenir photos / paintings or publishing on social media. It also allows fast and smooth processing on mid-range PCs (Macbook PRO 13" 2017 with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 and 8GB RAM). Autofocus absolutely comparable to that of Z6, in amateur use there are no differences ... The face/eye recognition works very well and during the trip I never encountered cases of out-of-focus photos. The responsiveness is another of the points in favor, compared to a Sony 6100 (replaced for this Z30) there is no story, as soon as it is turned on it is ready to shoot, without hesitation. Finally, but perhaps the very characteristic that makes you lean towards this machine, the lightness.... Kept around your neck under the August sun you almost forgot you had it. Among all the purchases (many, too many) of photographic material, this is the one that gave me the most satisfaction and that absolutely does not make me weigh to leave other more "professional" cameras at home. The viewfinder, at least for me, could remove it on all mirrorless, so I can not indicate its lack as a defect. Video part..... ah does that too?? Vote 10.

Pros: Q/p ratio - portability for outdoor and trekking, easy handling, ergonomics, ease of use, very simple file sharing via ad hoc wi-fi with dedicated app; Nikon quality... Also for accessories

Cons: display that is difficult to read in strong daylight conditions; no viewfinder; battery life (about 200-300 shots).

Opinion: After years of hiatus from photography for various reasons (I already had a Nikon D300 and a Nikon 1 J5) last November for my birthday I decided to get a new ML, to better capture my outdoor adventures, especially in the mountains. In fact, I was tired of limiting myself to the usual smartphone photos that look good on small screens but then ... Not wanting to risk bringing too heavy and expensive equipment, I opted for the new entry (at the time) Z30 with the kit of 2 lenses 16-50 and 50-250. Super good choice in terms of portability (I then opted for a quick-release shoulder strap set) and the quality of the photography. I then used it for sports photography and for musical events, for urban landscapes, streets, monuments, motoring events (a thousand miles), public events (Alpine parade, patron saint fair), always with great satisfaction for the rendering of colors and the definition of details even though it is not a FF. Limitations: outdoors in case of strong light (for example at the sea) it is very difficult to see what is framed in the display: in that case perhaps a small viewfinder like on the Sony 6000 series would help. The standard battery does not have much autonomy: depending on the conditions from 250 to 300 shots depending on the use of the display and any videos... So I bought a second battery (strictly original) to keep in my bag. The package lacks the external wall charger: without it, to charge you have to connect the machine to a socket using a special cable supplied with the battery in the compartment, which prevents you from using the machine unless you use a powerbank; At least there is a free memory card. The gust is very effective as I have been able to experience in sports (rugby). With the firmware update last May, the software also improved in the video.

Pros: Vlog, Responsiveness, Sharpness, Overall Quality

Cons: Lack of Viewfinder, optics, exposure

Opinion: I tested it for some videos for my youtube channel Delio Vernacchia. The excellent gimmick made especially for vlogs, however, we must adapt the right optics to fully exploit the considerable potential offered and the kit optics do not fully succeed in this intent also because this machine is very sensitive to the change of light and if the lens is not good the exposure may not be very correct, for a vlogher this thing should not be underestimated. In the end, spending something more, you will find optics like the 28-75 that look good. Obviously I am aware that it is not a professional camera, but for videos yes if known well. Perfect for youtube precisely because the files were made on purpose while the video cameras of the phone have a quality that youtube does not always show correctly. The found it excellent also with regard to the landscape photographic side and not only despite being an APS-C the truly optimal photographic quality even better than the Z6. What about a nice 9/10!
