sent on August 11, 2022 Pros: high iso seal, shutter speed, inexhaustible battery, ergonomics, autofocus Cons: nothing relevant Opinion: I owned this camera for a year, then sold to buy the Z9, what to say the D5 is a great camera does everything in an excellent way has an excellent autofocus and a battery with an autonomy of about three thousand shots, held high iso very high, perhaps in wild photography especially in avifauna the 21 MP that do not allow crop pushed and the shutter noisy especially in fast burst mode (it looks like a machine gun) penalize the use.obviously mine is a personal opinion and not everyone will agree. |
sent on November 10, 2021 Pros: It is a flagship, speed throughout, fps, 21mpx, high ISO, etc... Cons: Nobody Opinion: I waited a while to write my opinion... taken this summer and today between weddings, baptisms, sports and various ceremonies according to my way of photographing is fantastic in everything. Currently I have a Nikon D3s that supports it, but to buy it I sold a Nikon D3x, D3 plus some lenses. Purchased by RCE USED PHOTO with 365000 shots and 2 years warranty... a praise to them because before I had bought a Nikon D4s turned out to be defective and after a couple of weeks they changed it with the D5 plus difference. If compared with the other flagships we are on another planet as operational reactivity, ISO tightness and sensitivity with little light ... this last point interested me more because it hooks the impossible even in the dark. For me it is also fine the grain at 25000 ISO, the 14fps also, but when you shoot you do not see anything and it becomes dark (not like the D3s) and perhaps it is the only defect that I find but for the rest it is from 10 and praise. In addition, the 21mpx are perfect, the files weigh little and the recovery is crazy. |
sent on February 05, 2020 Pros: Excellent sensor, high speed of the mechanical shutter, af very reliable, impressive shooting range, ergonomics, tonal range and dynamic range, shutter lag that is unparalleled (0.31 milliseconds) Cons: Looking for the fur in the egg, noisy the shutter for those who devote themselves to "slave" wildlife subjects Opinion: I'm from the Canon "world," of which I owned machine bodies and top targets. Nikon's latest camera, which had my "colleague and friend" in the studio, featured technologies and improvements that invited me to buy and abandon the Canon brand. Leaving aside what may be boring insights, I just emphasize how much this Dslr has made me fall in love for its exceptional colors, faithful to reality in any weather condition, also thanks to a balance of white whereas compared to other brands it turns out to be from another planet (excellent the possibility of the three neutral selections). The mind-boggling performance is endorsed by the many substance present in this jewel of Nikon's house that make it in my opinion the best Reflex on the market. From the dynamic range to the "malleability" of raw files, from the incredible af to the inexhaustible buffer and burst, from the extraordinary ergonomics to the endless customizations and not least a tonal range unique in the world of reflex. D5 remains, in my opinion, a milestone in the world of digital photography. Obviously to be associated with "pro" optics. |
sent on December 13, 2019 Pros: Ergonomics; precision, consistency and AF speed; sensor yield; noise quality at high ISOs; Perfect file size for most uses; double xqd slot; monstrous buffer; very fast burst; battery life; Perfect automatic white balance 99% of the time; Design. Cons: No wi-fi, no bt, no focus peaking, silent live view photography that produces only resized JPEGs (and not RAW full res as on Nikon D850), banding with electronic shutter (silent live view photography). Opinion: Simply the best camera I've ever used. Weight is not a problem, the size is not even: the ergonomics are simply perfect. Where the D850 is, with a little commitment is you. I didn't have to change backpacks and bags. The performance is wonderful. The image rendering is amazing. High ISO noise has a quality that makes photos enjoyable and workable (I speak of 52,000 ISO!). Purchased used Nital (benefits of paid LTR assistance even with expired warranty) constitutes a best buy. |
sent on August 30, 2019 Pros: pretty much everything Cons: maybe a few more pixels and the shot less noisy but you can not have it all.. Opinion: I do birdlife (although I use it for some of my trips, the flash I keep at home is not necessary), what to say I also have the d850 , but for the action photo I leave it at home, needless to say that when the light is not there is useless especially for very short times and high ISO , the ideal conditions are quite rare in favor of the 850 but I have to say that if you manage to take a shot right the file is very detailed and you also have the opportunity to make crop pushed, however always at the expense of the quality of the photo, the d5 is the maximum that s i can claim for action photos ... (currently in the nikon house) the ISO i leave them automatic I do not worry like the 850 and previously with the 500 to stand to tinn the to pull out an optimal result ... the file is very workable the battery charge lasts a lot, great XQD cards but difficult to find... The weight ... at least with what costs something you see certainly not as the d850 that looks like a toy , recommended to those who think with their own head and do not follow the fashions or GURU on duty... |
sent on August 30, 2019 Pros: Many, starting with the estate with high ISO - files in JPEG practically perfect - robustness and ergonomics typical of all the other flagshipnikON. Cons: Undoubtedly the weight but after decades of using NIKON flagships is not a problem. A "against" is the poor availability of the excellent XQD cards and their price. Opinion: I have been working with nikON professionals for at least 40 years; leaving out my old analogues F3, F100 and the mythical F5 with which I took tens of thousands of photographs, focusing only on the "digital" that I had and used, I went from the now Jurassic D1 to the D100, then from D2 to D3 and then to the extraordinary D3S used until not so long ago, with which, given its excellent hold at high ISO, I began to use flashes more and more rarely. Recently I switched to the D5 precisely because of my need to have an even better yield in conditions of little light: for me this is one of the greatest merits of the D5. In my opinion the XQD memory cards are extraordinary, at first I was a bit skeptical but I immediately thought again, and I wonder why they are never used more in photography. We could say that most likely "it is the best flagship ever", although this expression we have used and heard many times in recent years and punctually every time we have been disproved in a short time. As with the previous NIKON "flagships" in hand, it conveys an extraordinary feeling of solidity that must not make us forget the concentration of technology contained in that rigid shell. It is worth more than adding that the D5 shows a marked increase in "detail" compared to the previous D3 and D4. I read a couple of reviews, in my opinion meaningless that would compare this machine with others, including the D750, and with all respect, I see that even in the field of photography there is no lack of "keyboard experts", people who without ever raising their own sit from the chair and based on those pseude reviews that they find on the net pontificate to churn right and lack imbecile judgments. In my opinion, the only way to "judge" a camera or an optics is to use them in the field, as the sub-slate has always done. Good light to all. |
sent on November 16, 2018 Pros: Precision AF, Burst, Buffer, tropicalization, autonomy, graphic quality, white balance, great high ISO hold. Cons: For some it may be the weight, nothing else. Opinion: I use this professional-level reflex, a unique performance reflex, the d850 you dream of the same photos. Needless to say about MPX and other, it does not stand the comparison. Try personally to make the same photo in the same low light conditions and compare not the number of MPX, but the quality of MPX between these two SLR and the ISO hold. The D5 is an undisputed leader. Not to mention the focus speed, the right shot is always assured! Infinite Buffer and very fast write speed (1, 33sec to write the burst of 200 Raw) on XQD card. Perfect white balance both on the skin and on the brides clothes. This reflex, coma D4s and D3s will remain in history. It's true the weight is there, but in 2 weekends you are already accustomed. Unless you completely revolutions the field of photography I think I will never separate. |
sent on August 28, 2018 Pros: It is a super professional, allowing the professional to take home the shot in any situation. It's not meant for amateur photographers. WB automatic Excellent. Cons: It is "only" a professional machine destined to those who carry the loaf at home with the photos. Amateurs in search of hyperdetail choose More. Opinion: I write this review not by the possessor of the D5 but by occasional user in photographic hunting trips to animals with friend journalist. The machine has an incredible operating speed, the burst never ends, the focus is instantaneous, the image quality is excellent, the high ISO tightness is very good. As I wrote about is a device created for the professional who is on the street not to do street but to take pictures of a car accident happened at 3 o'clock in the morning without light and with rain, or in the war zone, at the edges of a field series A , in Autodromo or Crossodromo or in non-ordinary situations (when amateur photographers sleep). My judgement is 10, after having used it and after developing the raw with ACR and viewed the JPEG with 5k Monitor. The white balance compared to my Nikon D750 is just fabulous. I gave a helping hand for a marriage service: The photos made with the D750 were almost all correct for whitening the wedding dress, those made with the D5 were perfect. That is, hours of work saved for the professional photographer. |
sent on February 15, 2018 Pros: Speed ??and precision af, burst, relative ease of use, connections, battery life Cons: excessive and unjustified price, weight, product dedicated solely to sports Opinion: I do not think that the D5 is a flagship as many are led to believe the stratospheric price and for some reason even unjustified, but it is a machine specifically dedicated to sports photography to its needs or even better to the needs of sports photographers who need press the shutter button and not be so much thinking, to send fast images of good quality without too many problems of resolution or even post production, to have a substantial autonomy and not having to be too much to work on the settings. In this field excels, but outside of this scope I do not see the need to faint for it, even in studio photography, in the landscape, architectural not to mention street or other not only is not superior to the same products of the Nikon house , but often takes them. For the rest like all the tests I could see and those that I personally did, even if a little 'to the garibaldina. they visually demonstrate that at 12800 ISO starts to rumble, even if less than other fullf frames, they revealjust doses a car of this land and leaving the imagination to the 3 million and passes of ISO. I would then like to see that with 20 megapixels on the full format, it did not even have a fair range yield. In conclusion, it is a machine that is specialized and unsuitable for general photography, which in a sense as a niche product, justifies its price commercially. |
sent on January 13, 2018 Pros: Construction, tropicalization, autonomy, focusing, general sensor yield, white balance, high ISO yield. Cons: Weight Opinion: I sold the old D700 and the D4s and bought the D5 alongside the D810. I received the D850 ... but at the last moment I decided not to pick it up and buy the D5 instead. I think the choice was more than right (having the D810). This is an exceptional machine with which you take home the shot always, everywhere, with all weather conditions, and especially "freehand" and not slaves of the tripod. The files are relatively light, the white balance superbly apt, the engagement of focus never goes into crisis even to want it (but I use it only with the 70-200 FL AND ED .... having sold almost all the optics Nikon I had in the Zeiss Milvus series manual with superb performance), the battery is endless allowing thousands of shots. I think if Nikon decides for the only sensible upgrade, that is a D5 with 24 mpxl ... to increase the resolution in a bit ... there will be for many years. The price to pay is the weight, but one really remains speechless when one perceives how he worksthis corpomacchina in all its innumerable aspects. Lifting and mirror return do not feel absolutely, confirming a balance and ergonomics of use without equal in the photographic panorama.rnNon is my genre, but for those who take action shots the gust annihilates. You do not need anything else. |
sent on January 13, 2018 Pros: AF speed. WB balance, file cleaning, NF JPG shots, exceptional ISO, excellent ergonomics, infinite battery a tank with the cold then Cons: the weight but get used to it Opinion: Great car the best ever, I have owned it for about a year and a half and I can not speak well, focus everywhere, recently I photographed in the cold and does not stop, great menu, even personalization, everything in its place, rnqualcuno that at a hundred ISO does not work well, I also own the D800 story and puts it away as if it were anything! rnIL white balance great then say the AF and high ISO and so on, I repeat a monster .... |
sent on February 17, 2017 Pros: Speed, iso estate, jpeg file ready to use without the need for retouching, infinite battery, AF Cons: Weight and dimensions (for me are not a defect indeed) dizzying price Opinion: I had them all, D2x-D3-D4 and D3s now taking up the D5 I can only confirm that Nikon has made huge strides on the flagships. D5 This is really a bomb files that churns are ready, even the B has an exceptional cleaning that you just convert it to jpeg and you have the picture ready. I tried to shed the D5 with 500 mounted on f4 and I had the D500 with 200-400 with ISO 4000. Well approximately the same between the two really can not compare the D5 shredded files are cleaner and more workable. The AF engages anything and allows to work in very low light conditions. The flurry of 12fps is outstanding, not to mention the buffer that is infinite. Take only the XQD model to benefit from the maximum operating speed. The weight and size are important, but also having a D810 with battery grip, I can say that despite being lighter than the D5, I get tired much less to challenge the D5 especially with paintings of a certain caliber as 2.8 and 300 200-400 you can slewing freehand. Batteryyou forget to charge it, but do not forget the price that you have shelled out for this machine, really challenging but you know this is really a professional tool in the round. |
sent on November 21, 2016 Pros: operating speed, reliability, high ISO image quality seal Cons: Price Opinion: The best car to date held for image quality at the highest ISO that allows you to shoot indoor sensitivity and speed never before possible. Precision AF with lenses typical of the sports equipment, namely 70 200, 300, 200 400 is absolute, with a percentage of AF out of focus laughable, provided you use the corretti.rnMenu settings and typically Nikon buttons, which allow you to adapt easily, if you come from other flagships. The picture quality even at low ISO is not absolutely mediocre but also enjoys a very precise white balance. Finally JPEG ready assoluamente use are of excellent quality even in difficult lighting situations, and can be excluded from the process the RAW with benefit in terms of time and processing of images: scope of purely sporting work, with absolute reliability n every condition utilizzo.rnConsigliabile the use of XQD cards that are less prone to problems relating to the card slots with connetof CF bulls they tend to bend, using high intensivo.rnPrezzo as, unfortunately, the custom of the flagships attuali.rn |
sent on October 11, 2016 Pros: Ruggedness, image quality, speed, battery life. Cons: Weight and dimensions that can intimidate (but need not necessarily be a defect), high price. Opinion: This machine is like a hit man. precise and ruthless fast at high ISO! rnCi want the handle to hold it in your hand as it is big and heavy, but I would not put it in those terms. Rather the mighty, indestructible call! Holding it in your hand you have an extreme sense of security, it has the immediate certainty of being able to lead to taking any further climatica.rnMettiamo condition immediately get one thing straight. If you want images to be thousands and thousands of megapixel with unmatched dynamic range at low iso then buy yourself a D810! RnQuesta machine was created to give the best of themselves at high ISO and cabbage if it does it well! You realize you can raise the ISO to ignorance and keen to push at levels never felt before without incurring grain and related degradation of the images. The autofocus then hardly wrong to hook the subject, even in tough lighting conditions. Personally I do not mind sports photography but I've been experimenting a bit 'with the barrage. Simply awful, just look (and listen to) one of the many videos on youtuband to realize how fast! rnHo read a bit 'of everything about the poor dynamic range and overall image quality that leaves something' to be desired, rumors born of "experiments" made by individuals with dubious skills and then disclosed as absolute truth ... well I have personally had the opportunity to work with the raw (or rather the nef) of nikon D810 and compare them to those of D5, in my opinion for a "normal" use without going to extremes as recoveries from 5 stop (which I wonder who has ever made recoveries of shadows from 5 stop!?!?) and I can guarantee that even with this camera the results are eccellenti.rnCerto, the body only weighs around 1.4 kg and combining it to nikon 24-70 weight starts to become important ... especially for long photo sessions as it can be a wedding. The ergonomics of the SLR, however, comes to our aid being able to balance the weight in order to have a much less heavy feeling than they really è.rnInsomma you pay much but fromlthough much. RNLA maximum Nikon expression with respect to the SLR professionali.rnrn |
sent on May 23, 2016 Pros: Fast, reliable, super high iso. Cons: Complicated menu, good ergonomics, but not great, Opinion: In late April I went from Canon (1Dx) to the Nikon system with D5. I am a professional photographer, photojournalist for the accuracy and use of the Q5 by 20 days, and every day for several hours a day. Apart from the initial trauma, optical bayonet on the contrary, zoom on the contrary, inserting tabs on the contrary ... I have to say that this D5 is really a bomb! I've never been a "fan" of a brand rather than another, in my opinion trying to be as objective as possible. I must not "fall in love" of the cameras, we have to work and I want a reliable, fast, strong and as powerful as possible. The machine has a very fast and accurate autofocus, even in critical conditions, I took pictures (jpeg) to 20,000 ISO with mixed light and dark background of excellent quality. The JPEG file is lavorabilissimo and allows white balance, lighten shadows and recover highlights on almost as a raw file. Deontoligici for reasons I can not do other types of "hacking" but for what they serveand I am more than satisfied, I am excited. rnNel 2000 was increased from Nikon (F3 and F4) to Canon and since then I have always used Canon. Today I can not make comparisons with D1x I used until less than a month ago! Ergonomics there is no history, Canon Nikon beats, especially on the shoot vertically. The car is better than one in the hand and changing the orientation of the buttons are in the same spot, with the Nikon instead change. High ISO, Nikon beats Canon (but would touch compare with 1Dx mark II). dynamic range, Nikon (9 votes) better than the Canon (8.5 rating). Auto white balance would give a draw. Nikon has a complicated menu compared to Canon to then essentially the same things! With flash (sb 5000) Nikon superiority is rather obvious. With the new Nikon 70-200 2.8 I took photos impressive engraving and precision af, true that my old 70-200 f2.8 had two years now, I seem to remember, however, that so incidentally it has ever state. Now look vivies if the machine skins start to peel away as I have seen it happen to so many colleagues with Nikon equipment. I sure hope not because it would be a detail ... absurd !!! |
