sent on November 23, 2021 Pros: Reliability, optical rendering valid at all focal lengths and apertures throughout the frame, focal range, stabilizer. Very competitive overall package. Cons: Deformation, autofocus now a bit obsolete for precision and noise. Opinion: "It has the plastic bayonet" among the most recurrent criticisms, yet it clicks and does not break. I could be the one who put this lens on the rope more than anyone else as I used it assiduously on d90 for 6 years of which 1 spent traveling in Asia like crazy in extreme conditions for temperatures, sand, humidity, various vibrations and think a little, it still works great (bayonet included ...) and also looks good, giving me good shots even in difficult conditions. So the impression is slightly fragile, but in reality it resists and how. I think it is the most underrated lens of the whole park dx nikon, the best among the dark zooms as better than the 18-55 for performance and focal range, better than the 16-85 because it offers practically the same performance costing half, and better than the 18-200 because this drops to too many quality compromises, weighs more and cost 3 times as much. Now it is better to take its new version, the 18-140 which has the same performance and an extended range. Now I have a d750 with a set of fixed f1.4 and a 24-120 f4 that weighs twice as much, and this lens so light I miss. It does not create the magic of fixed 1.4, but we would lack more, but it is quite sharp and constant at all focal lengths, has beautiful colors, contained aberrations, a remarkable resistance to backlight and a reliable yield in all conditions. The focus ring has play and is almost indecent to use. Zoom quite smoothly. In general, a lightweight, versatile, optically valid and economical lens in order to spend what you save on fixed lenses. At the moment my father uses it on d3200, so he has been shooting non-stop for 12 years (despite the plastic bayonet...) On the d90 it was a bit limited in use at optimal light conditions, but on modern cameras with better high iso yields its field of use extends. |
sent on March 23, 2021 Pros: Useful focal length, versatility Cons: Quality however only discreet, vignetting Opinion: Personally, I do not think there is much to be said about this objective. Its biggest strength is the focal hike, with its 18-105mm when I'm in town I can take almost everything I need, I managed to take some cute photos and no one has ever complained about the quality. VR works but it's not great. At 18mm I notice a bit of distortion and a slight drop in quality, for me nothing dramatic. A f/5.6 becomes sharp enough for all situations. I used it for a few years but now it is in one of my photo bags not to do anything, I abandoned it in favor of the 35mm f/1.8 DX and the 50mm f/1.8 G, and if I really need 50-70mm of focal more I use the 70-300mm AF-P VR DX, which beats it in all. The biggest defect I have encountered is vignetting at certain focal lengths and in certain particular situations, it goes away I believe only partially if you shoot at f/10-11. I would recommend it only if found at less than 150-200 euros, but at that price perhaps it is worth trying to get the 18-140mm. Rating: 7.9, maybe I'm a little too generous but since I've been using it without problems for several years I'm very fond of it. |
sent on September 19, 2020 Pros: Provided in kit, focal excursion Cons: Photo quality only discreet, in my opinion it is useless to have a reflex and do not use better lenses... Opinion: All in all honest. When I bought my Nikon d3400 (used by a private) it was provided in kit, so it was my first lens that I used. The weight is not excessive, the focal excursion good. The photos he churns out are also pretty good, but as soon as you try better optics here's the difference you see right away. I sold it for pretty much the same amount I had shelled out for the entire body machine kit included! Given back to take adding 20 euros a fixed nikon 35mm... other world! Before that I had bought the nikon afp dx70-300 zoom, and already this gives him the "pay" sharply, vr, speed, everything. Now I have added to my small kit the sigma 17-50 f2.8 which I find fantastic. To conclude, in my opinion it may be good to make bones, but as said "in the cons", it does not do justice to modern camera sensors, which deserve better. Vote 7 |
sent on June 10, 2020 Pros: Price quality ratio, focal excursion, lightness, well-built Cons: Slight 18mm distortion Opinion: I tried it mounted on my father's D90 and I have to say that it churns out good photographs. Later I bought it for my D5200 which was equipped with the 18-55. The difference with the latter is considerable; it is much sharper, although the economic difference is not high and considering that the weight is not excessive is the all-rounder lens to prefer for many DX (except of course the top of the range that deserve goals of the same quality line). It distorts a little at 18 mm, but this is predictable and still not excessively and since I never shoot at that focal point for me is an uninfluential defect. They take home great photographs, it is well done and although not very bright it can be used in almost all conditions. (If you want a bright lens you usually opt for a fixed lens). I would recommend it, especially for those who travel since it is flexible and light. It is also stabilized, other added value, and of course it has autofocus. It will make you have fun |
sent on February 26, 2020 Pros: Lightweight, VR, exploitable, well built, very affordable used price. Cons: It distorts to 18mm. Opinion: Everyone writes that it is not bright. It's a zoom, if you want speed and brightness buy a fixed optics. As much as it costs I extravagate it on all Nikon DX machines from the first to those of 2017 as an all-rounder to use in a bit of all situations. It's beautiful mounted on the machine, has VR, pulls out discreet portraits, helps in architectural composition. At 18mm unfortunately distorts a lot, just shoot from 24mm to solve. He weighs little and is on average resolute. If you use it on better-performing machines like the D500 or the D7200 and D7500 it loses sense... In general I recommend it! I bought it back for a used old Nikon, too. |
sent on May 05, 2019 Pros: Focal range, weight, versatility Cons: Construction, brightness Opinion: Preferable to standard kit 18-55. Excellent lens handyman to start. The range 18-105 allows you to cover most focal lengths when you are on the road and you do not want to carry too much weight. The optics is not very bright, but it does its job. I found at times faulty the coupling mechanism of the CAP. |
sent on February 25, 2018 Pros: Light, versatile, reliable and more robust than you might assume Cons: Excessive price for product quality Opinion: It is an honest, reliable in all aspects (AF-VR) and versatile. From the comparative tests of my model, it has a less sharpness than the 18-55 VR (first version, which was a more than worthy optics -always my specimen-). Its plastic structure and severe cost reduction, starting with the plastic bayonet, generate serious doubts about how fair its price is rather than inflated by marketing impositions. Regardless of my opinion, it must be said that it is the classic optics to be left mounted on its own entry level DSLR such as the D3xxx series, a pairing that for lightness and size is the ideal shipping companion for walking Light. The images on a 16 and on a 24 mpix are still good and well contrasted, do not surprise for sharpness and plasticity but it would be absurd to look for the hair in the egg with this category of lenses. A well-deserved mention of honor: since the EXIF date, I discovered with amazement that a friend of mine with this optics coupled with a D3200 took about 150,000 images in three years (in many trips and expeditions to the mountains of the world); arrived at about 100,000 shots the optics had problems of autofocus and was repaired (in warranty!!!). Given the condition of the -battered - body machine that has always housed it (also the plastic one), on which, among other things, ALL screenprints have disappeared due to the abrasion of the fingers and the matte finish of the surfaces has given way to large polished sections with intense use, you have to admit that... Plastic yes or no plastic, it is actually a reliable and recommendable travel companion. 8 rating (not absolute but in relation to its category) |
sent on February 24, 2018 Pros: Good All-Rounder, discreetly sharp, little distortion, good A-f, and acceptable aberrations. Cons: A little dark, plastic attack,if you do not pay attention suffers a bit of flare. Opinion: Ultimately the focal excursion makes it a good lens all do, to carry in your bag when traveling. A bit plastic in the construction and the dial of the focus limited. When used in good light condition can still give good shots with a quality color rendering. The plastic bayonet attachment is the real sore neo of this lens, but if used with caution it should not create problems. Some chromatic aberration and not very bright. |
sent on February 06, 2018 Pros: Cost in kit, versatility, sharpness and VR Cons: Construction a cheap and plastic bayonet Opinion: Taken in kit with the D3400, it's a good whole make better than the 18-55 VR. Sharp, light, it's a travel goal. Luminous in natural light conditions, it is clearly a little in crisis when the light tends to decrease even if the VR is really effective but it does not always survive to a more open aperture. Unfortunately it has the plastic bayonet although in honor of the true is quite robust, not like that of the 16-50 OIS Fuji which lasted me a month. Focus is not lightning-fast but precise, it is a good compromise from travel and, why not, during parties of children and adults where the quality is more than adequate and not worth risking a more expensive perspective. Price off market if taken new not in kit. Added: After more than one year of use I give him a 10 as a vote, optically is very valid and the vote obviously takes account of the low cost, I scrambled on the road and still the mechanics is precise in spite of the plasticous appearance. |
sent on January 26, 2018 Pros: Price, comfortable focal Cons: Dark Opinion: Objective without too many claims, good range of focal length that makes it very exploitable in all situations, especially traveling. Good price for used quality Acceptable quality, good AF. A little too dark. Definitely recommended as the first kit lens as an alternative to 18-55 because of the same quality but with a more exploitable focal length. |
sent on January 20, 2018 Pros: Useful on all occasions and everything is very convenient for novice amateur photographers. Cons: For the price that he would say nobody. Opinion: I took this lens together with the D5200 with which I have been using it for 3 years. After thousands of shots I can say that I am very satisfied with the results achieved and the flexibility that this lens has, even though I have used it purely for landscapes and streets. For my experience, in some situations it is a bit short, but nothing that resolves everything with his older brother 18-140, in fact for my needs I had to go directly to a 70-300mm to be more within reach of the subject .rnIs really a good lens to start and to continue if you do not have large availability, I would not change it for anything in the world and I could never get tired of him! |
sent on January 13, 2018 Pros: Good everything to do, quite clear if closed Cons: Rather dark and of low build quality, it also suffers from distortion and vignetting Opinion: This is an honest all-round, useful especially for newbies, as it allows you to experiment with all focal lengths ranging from 28mm to 150mm (35m eq.) And is equipped with a good stabilizer. The focus, after making the fine adjustment to -20 on Nikon D7000, is quite accurate, even if not very fast. The sharpness is good, especially between f5.6 and f8, however this lens vignette a bit 'at all focal length and suffers from a noticeable distortion, then you have to intervene on raw camera to adjust the shot. Finally, chromatic aberrations are sometimes present, not too evident and easily eliminated in post production. After all, it is a cost-effective target, even if I definitely prefer the 35mm right. |
sent on January 04, 2018 Pros: Lightweight, good focal excursion, convenient price, image stabilizer, good handyman Cons: Plasticy, not very clear at 105 mm Opinion: Great goal to start. Definitely better than 18-55 VR. After a while 'highlights its limits, but overall a good all-rounder for the price paid. Dark at 105 mm, but in optimal light conditions it also makes some interesting shots. For portraiture can also be used thanks to the stabilizer and with a little 'patience returns some well done photos. Lightweight, inexpensive and particularly practical to carry around. Rated 7.5 |
sent on December 27, 2017 Pros: Focal excursion, stabilization Cons: sharpness Opinion: My first lens combined with the d3200. Excellent to start with the wide focal excursion and stabilization. After a while, however, it begins to highlight its limits. The sharpness is not high and in general at 105 mm it becomes dark with diaphragm f5.6. In conclusion good to start (better certainly of 18-55) but then you feel the need for something else. Rated 7.5 |
sent on November 13, 2017 Pros: compact, great VR, crisp as all the std zoom in this category. It hampers better than many other Nikon. Cons: missing metric manual focus, plastic bayonet attachment. Opinion: Taken in a bar with various optics, backed with a cormorant on the fly (3 photos published on juza). rnIt was all so the standard zooms .. Vr impeccable, perfect fire, better than the XX-XX I would just sell, I keep this, not so much for the 20mm more that make no difference but for the speed of focus, even silent, that will not disturb the video. rnBecause it does not have a "true" manual focus, there are no stops at the end so manually it focuses badly, that one hundred times it serves.rn the plastic bayonet. for what it costs new is a venial sin, games do not feel it, even though it is a 2 year old. rnMy i reserve to update the review between a couple of months of intense use in street and gite.rnVoto 8 + rn |
sent on October 15, 2017 Pros: Focal Length, Stabilizer, Price Cons: Poor Sharpness, Poor Light, Distortion, Chromatic Aberration Opinion: A high-powered, high-powered kite kit, which allows a neophyte to learn various techniques, and to figure out which one might be the most suitable photo genre for him. By increasing the focus, I noticed that sharpness drops dramatically over 70-80 mm. The distortion is high especially in the wide angle, but can be easily corrected in PP. Even the chromatic aberration is very high, but it can also be easily corrected in PP most of the time. |
sent on July 20, 2017 Pros: Lightweight, versatile, stabilized, price Cons: Constructive quality, no sharp focus at all focal points Opinion: It was my first goal, bought with the kit of my D3100. RnEach lens I have practiced I have a special memory of him. RnIf you want this so-called "everything to do" to start, this seems to me the most suitable choice. RnPermette already to have a good focal excursion, and to try both in portraiture and in landscaping, obviously without too much pretense. Its lightness is in my opinion an advantage, since it allows it to hold it without straining too much. Manipulating it manically I do not know because this lightness hides a fragility of construction. Rn I found it unfortunately not always sharp at all focal points, ie when the focal point increased, the sharpness decreased, but it is easily resolved by working at F8 or at most at F11. RnI think it's a great kit kit, for those who are in the early arms and need to learn. |
sent on June 12, 2017 Pros: Focal-lightness-sharpness-stabilization-af for nothing slow Cons: Dark but already clear to TA, in relation to the price none Opinion: Honestly I find it a really good fit kit. The use for two years without special care has never been a problem. He does what he has to do and does it honestly. The AF has an acceptable speed, it's obviously dark but TA does not even hurt it at 105. The stabilizer works, it also engages in unexpected flying shots. Lightweight and although very plastic, I do not find it delicate, including the plastic bayonet which has so far not highlighted any cuts. In my opinion the average reviews do not do justice to this goal, especially in relation to the price. |

It gives its best to f11. Of course you realize its shortcomings once try other lenses. Opinion: My first lens took into kits with D7200. Great to take the first steps, but note its mediocrity once it joins another lens. Difficult to use in low light and by day is able to give good satisfaction. As a handyman is not bad even if the tele side is sometimes a little short. The basic machine with that lens so often want to use the flash even in the daytime, 18 distorts ( but do not see much) and to 105 if you are in low light creates a bit of vignetting, I love it because in any case there is a panorama shots but we also do a nice zoom, though pleasing me the night shots is not for me and not even the SLR:) rnQuando low light focusing is impossible, and the lightness of the plastic ring at times makes you wrong focus manualernrnInsomma, good on an entry level kit ... otherwise ..... ........ |

Opinion: A good all-rounder for street, little light and suitable for indoors or in low light with an external flash you can get decent shots. The 18mm seem incredibly more canvases of 17 of my current SIGMA. Bayonet Plastic is fine for a small fixed, for 18-55 but here in full extension the weight can ruin soon. The focus ring and soft seems fake and can also be moved in the AF mode. It sold almost immediately taking it. There are Chinese bayonets metal can adapt but their cost added to the lens does get the price of 18-200 which seems to be much higher! |
sent on March 25, 2016 Pros: Pourability, vr, practical and useful excursion, Cons: Construction (although not to the touch), af slow and performs poorly in low-light situations, focus ring and manual focus in my opinion a little hard and without references, 105 loses much, dark, plastic hood, distortion at 18mm ... yield in general. Opinion: Assuming that is the first review I do, and I'm not a professional, this was my first goal (by Kit with d3100) and from the beginning has never satisfied me. It 'just as a lens kit, as versatile and not very heavy. However its minimum it does, and indeed even that bad ... but it has its counter A 105 is little usable, even more so if in dark situations. The manual focus without references is unpleasant, and speed situations this becomes annoying (more so for the fact that f is slow and does not always recognize the subject in low-light situations). In addition, the construction makes it not very solid delicate. The VR works with dignity (even if it is better than the 18-55 by Kit, Ver. II). In short, a lens to be very useful and practical kits, given the cost does his duty with dignity, but after a while 'you use ... is felt its limits. |

sent on June 09, 2015 Pros: AF, stabilizer, focal excursion Cons: Plasticky, little bright, general yield Opinion: You can't expect much from an APS-C kit lens, but the expense for this 18-105 on the new one is not irrelevant, especially when bought with Nital warranty; At the Csotruttivo level you will immediately notice a quality not lofty, more solid than the Nikon 18-55 but we are about them, especially the plastic bayonet mount is one of the most horrible things you can find on such a lens (the first esemblare had , for Contracolpo without crashing the machine has broken by rolling the lens itself on the ground); At the optical level the lens is dark and already starts from a fairly closed aperture so a T-stop darker than almost an env, also in TA tends to suffer a bit of AC Altera also on APS-C with less dense sensor, at the level of yield from the best wide-angle side from 18mm (where common Que vigentta a bit) up to 50mm to 5.6, then it should be closed at least F8 going up where it is already at limit with the difraction, while at the chromatic level the colors are good with the shadows but a little closed; The positive aspects of this lens are the AF quite fast and precise and the stabilizer that manages to recover 4 stops; It is a lens that I recommend on APS-C with non-particularly dense sensors (10-16mpx, on 24mpx If you do not have big claims) to those who start and want a zoom with a comfortable excursion from wide angle to portrait. |

Cons: you can see a bit of distortion and sometimes charge too green, but overall good behavior can make photos pretty discreet. missing the attack iron then you must handle with some care when changing goal. Opinion: are a holder of a nikon d 7100 I believe that this lens is not able to fully exploit the potential of this car, I found the kit but I think I will change it later also for that I want more satisfaction in the results of the photo. as brightness gets along pretty well but lack a bit of even greater detail;) is that my eye and very demanding but having a semi professional lenses requires more advanced and expensive in my opinion. as lightweight mobility I am comfortable though. |
sent on December 06, 2014 Pros: optical kit, versatility, VR, lightweight, good autofocus Cons: bayonet plastic Opinion: I state that I am in the world reflex from about 1-2 months and started from neophyte (then I knew almost nothing at the beginning, and even now I still have long way to go), but for what I can tell you that I used have found it very good, being 18-105 is great (if already attached to the body) for many situations (where maybe you have no time to change target), I was lucky enough to take it in a kit with a D90, good VR, optical light that is not too tired even if you use it for hours, the autofocus has never disappointed my expectations ... rnIl sore that gave me a little 'annoyance is the bayonet ... One night I took the D90 (to which was attached) from the backpack I found body only as a vote in hand ... Overall I would give a 7.5 / 8 ... |
sent on November 25, 2014 Pros: Economic, versatile Cons: Dark, AF scarsetto (on my own), sharpness as well, plasticky Opinion: I'm satisfied? Considering it was the lens kit with the D7000 would say it was a good school, is versatile, and we do everything without too many problemi.rnLo recommend? Be taken separately to the machine not, even if it costs just think that it is much better to figures far proibitive.rnLimiti? I found problems of focus, it is dark and not very clear, the construction is not that great (but for me it is not a real problem). |
sent on September 23, 2014 Pros: lightweight, stabilized, zoom range, filter by 67 Cons: bayonet plastic Opinion: He was despised by many .... I find instead that lens a great all-rounder, he was in a kit with the D7000, I bought other optical specifications for my kind of pictures but not the 18-105 l 'I never sold because it has never disappointed me , the only thing that can be negative is the 'bayonet in plastic for the rest has always been a great travel companion and will continue to esserlo.rnBuona light at all;-) |
sent on September 20, 2014 Pros: Focal length, VR, autofocus, decent optical quality Cons: Construction of conception by optical kit, so very plasticky. Opinion: Purchased as optical battle from behind have always left me amazed by the optical quality that does not differ (according to my opinion modestissimissimo) from that of the much more expensive nikon 16-85. For the rest, no frills perspective with a good VR, a good AF and a focal length very apt. It distorts a bit at 18mm and robust construction certainly was not charged for this product. My copy was beautiful older and suffered from spontaneous elongation of zooming when it was tilted down. |
sent on September 01, 2014 Pros: Focal length, VR Cons: Optic kit Opinion: Purchased in kit form (D90) about 4 years ago, we can now pull the somme.rnSenza praise nor disgrace, doing her job, and the VR helps mm more than the 18-55 as well. The picture quality is good, usabilissima for a good PP and subsequent stampa.rnPersonalmente evaluated all the pros and cons would place it in between 18-55 and 17-55, has an obvious distortion in 18mm, but nothing that is not correct PP, suffer from a bit of sharpness more than 18 mm, 18-55 brother gets better, defends well between f / 6.3 f / 11.rnIl VR, doing her job, but I think 2 stop sensazioni.rnRicapitolando is an honest lens from the kit, there are of best (or 18-200VR 17-55VR), but have higher costs., in any case do not recommend the purchase if not in the kit, to the detriment of a trickle of sharpness (but there is talk of magnifications ) in favor of a 18-55rn |
sent on June 25, 2014 Pros: focal length Cons: all the rest, building, distortion at 18 mm, color, big, the worst Nikon lens Opinion: I bought and sold, after about a month a few years ago, I still remember the expectations that I had and the huge disappointment that gave me this goal, the worst I've ever Nikkor provato.rnL 'hike is good, although not 105 is neither fish nor fowl, then better to focus on the 18 200 very good, much better performance as well as quality d 'images! RNLA distortion at 18mm is awesome and makes you feel like trashing' s lens in the first use, such as paintings can also be good, but it's still a little bright and the colors are not beautiful at all, considering the excellent standard nikkor, even the type of objectives by Kit 18 55 or 55 300.rnLa stabilization is the worst stabilization nikkor never proven, in short, not good I found nothing, I would not recommend at all, if you have 18 to 55 hold on |
user41490 ![]() ![]() | sent on June 04, 2014 Pros: Handyman kits Cons: Buietto ring anchor in little plastic solid non-tropical conditions Opinion: And cute enough to be a handyman on nikon d5000 I have not had any major problems except for the fact that bringing in a theater to take pictures at a dance recital I took him by the neck and shake-machine with a free hand because of the noise iso diaphragm to fear that a little warmed up with the opener has boxes and fast times in these conditions has vignettato and many photos can I pass for dipindi oil, however, in the sum a little something pulled out his rival had trippiede d7000 and a gun then not mezzometro I can not complain! Surely the 16-85 and much better |
sent on June 03, 2014 Pros: Very versatile, ideal as a lens to travel. Cons: Distortion and vignetting at 18 mm to 105 mm obvious. Color rendering disappointing. Opinion: 26egrave; likely to sell and you buy new lenses, but my advice is to keep it because as I said the chance to take it back on the road capita..prima or poi..rn Who says VR is not effective reply: this is a str ..... Zata! the VR is great. I took photos in Night-time freehand with 105mm lens that came egregiamente.rn |
sent on April 27, 2014 Pros: focal length Cons: distortion at 18mm, dark, vr not effective, vignetting at 105mm Opinion: Perhaps the lens less powerful that I used until now, not at the height of Nikon products, not usable because it creates a distortion at 18mm is not acceptable so it can not be used as a wide angle. And 'quite dark but the worst thing, and that is not effective then vr + vibration = dark pictures deleted! Not usable even at the maximum focal length of 105mm as cartoon enough. What can we say, surely the price is not high, but the Nikon could do better, especially because the focal lengths ranging from 18 to 105mm are always the most popular and in fact I think the zoom range is just as well, but unfortunately I have to say that 18 55 vr is definitely more powerful, so I recommend you to choose it as the kit lens. |
sent on April 26, 2014 Pros: Exaggerated sharpness, focal length "handyman", light Cons: Bokeh nervous, dull colors, dark, autofocus sometimes boring Opinion: Caught in a kit with the d3100 so far has been my main lens. I think it is a great lens in sharpness handyman who has his greatest strength. He gave me satisfaction in many conditions, especially landscapes, nature and architecture, running out however, also in terms of focus, when the light begins to scarseggiareo. The bokeh is not the best, colors, relatively little saturated, you simply recover enough in the post. I joined a 35mm F1.8 which compensates for the defects in rendering of colors and brightness, remaining on a kit "budget" |
sent on March 14, 2014 Pros: Lightweight and sturdy, sharp, good focal range Cons: Autofocus not great, distortion at 18mm, poor sharpness and vignetting at 105mm Opinion: Caught in a kit with the D7000 and is still the privileged. Considering that it is a lens of "kits" I consider some of its minor flaws, such as brightness and vignetting often evident at high focal lengths. They are more annoying distortion at short focal lengths presenting and autofocus which is generally accurate and fast but with decreasing light is in crisis and often becomes slow (mainly the focal more). Rnih compensation is already considerably sharper than 1 or 2 Stop in and the less good (but not excessive) focal length make it very versatile as zoom and a real all-rounder to take on trips. Although the focus issuing is quite pleasant. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a zoom lens for DX, and considering that if they find a lot of nearly new used on the network, for entry-level is perhaps one of the goals with the price / convenience best. |
sent on February 26, 2014 Pros: excellent all-round, light weight, acceptable sharpness without infamy and without praise ....... discrete af Cons: hood that makes you laugh, distortion at 18mm and embarrassing restistenza nothing to flare Opinion: Purchased for my D7100. I think that is a great lens from discrete economic potential and excellent value for money, much more than its direct competitor 16-85, slightly better. Good sharpness offering from F7.1 to 13. Ideal for those who do not want to spend a lot of money and have a good 'all-rounder' that allows (obviously with its limitations) to pass from landscapes to portraits ... rnNon bright ... rnDistorce to 188 mm in marl obvious, but the What is correctable in PP. The resistance to flare is nothing but what you expect for a lens with 190 € you take home? RnLo highly recommend it to beginners |
sent on February 25, 2014 Pros: Good all-round, good sharpness, light Cons: hood, distortion at 18 mm, low light Opinion: How do you lens all great considering what it costs, the sharpness is decent and it's a lightweight lens. The lens hood (maybe it's a fault of my goal) engages without being completely stopped. Shooting is 18 mm and 105 mm there is distortion loses some 'quality. When indoors is definitely not luminoso.rnComplessivamente is a lens that the board instead of the usual 18-55 having regard to its superior versatility. |
user36759 ![]() ![]() | sent on February 15, 2014 Pros: Versatility and discreet sharpness Cons: Construction too light in my opinion, and therefore not suitable for pro bodies, barrel distortion over 18mm, minimum focusing distance of 45mm (too long for me) Opinion: I decided to buy it when I no longer had any standard zoom. Initially I was oriented on 18-200. Then feeling good about this goal I looked for it and used it almost new. I used it on Fuji S5Pro. The yield is not bad (and in any case better than 18-200), but economic construction with respect to the body gave me thought, I was always afraid to snatch it. It did not do for me. In an entry-level reflex can also go on a Professional body better something of the same robustness and better balance. The 18mm distortion was excessive, better 18-55. Finally, I do not feel comfortable telling you unless you have a small entry-level reflex. In this case you will have versatility and discreet quality in a little space. |
sent on January 29, 2014 Pros: low price, handyman quite clear, minimum focusing distance. Cons: dim. Opinion: bought as a kit with the D5100 after seeing several beautiful pictures in the forum made with this goal. I'm quite happy for paaesaggi, as well as macros. Not having other objectives as well as a lot of experience I find it hard to judge, but I think it's already very good for beginners and does not have much to invest. IIMI would like to join him with 35 mm 1.8 um with a fixed and 10-20. |
sent on January 16, 2014 Pros: Versatility, good sharpness (given the price) Cons: AF sufferer in low light conditions, distortion, excessive flare, construction materials, not great Opinion: The versatility of the lens allows you to experiment with different photographic genres but does not excel in any of them, it is a good starting point for those who approach for the first time in the world of digital SLR photography and still does not know which way to go "grow up" . rnih kit with my D7100, a lens to "battle" good for all occasions. |
sent on November 18, 2013 Pros: Comfortable, lightweight, cost-effectiveness. Cons: A good all-rounder but for others it takes great pictures! Opinion: Good all-rounder. I had a Canon 500D with a long series of objectives, but since I travel with children, it was difficult to bring everything back. I was going to switch to Nikon and I took the D7100 with this lens, for added convenience. The lens seems to do everything well, from landscapes to portraits, but I also used as a still-life. Between f / 8 and f/11 seems to give the best of themselves. |
sent on November 06, 2013 Pros: Low price, good all-purpose, lightweight and easy to handle, good sharpness, stabilizer Cons: Plasticky, f-mount, plastic hood innsesto hard, no scale focus, not fast af Opinion: Good all-do, I always carry with me. Good sharpness between f / 8 and f / 13 (not counting the edges), stabilizer effective enough, purple fringe content, af good (breaks down at sunset) but not very fast. rnCon a bit of experience you can make the most of, always keeping in mind that it comes to an optics kit and that does not make miracles. |
sent on September 09, 2013 Pros: Quality / price ratio. Good range of focal sharp enough, very light. Cons: brightness and very plasicosa construction, including the bayonet (but this is to keep costs down, so that's okay) Opinion: Good all-rounder, from wide angle to medium zoom. I've used it very little, because it bought in a kit with the D7000. I wanted to sell it but I preferred to keep it to the outputs read a few pretese.rnHa the classic rendering of the new Nikon lenses, sharp and contrast (which I do not like it, I prefer the softer performance of the optics AF-D), good sharpness. How to 18mm wide angle distorts a bit 'too much and lose a little' quality when compared with for example the tokina 12-24, but there is in fact, all in all not bad for a view handyman and the price more than fair. |
sent on May 20, 2013 Pros: Certainly the range of focal lengths and its versatilità.rnBuona sharpness especially from F7.1 to 13.rnOttimo value for money! RnGrandezza and handling of the ring zoom.rnParaluce. Cons: Stabilizer does miracoli.rnAutofocus sometimes delicate pigro.rnBaionetta (plastic). RnScivolamento zoom when pointed down. Opinion: Bought it for my little D60 is stuck for a good 2 anni.rnLo I think a great lens from discrete economic potential and excellent value for money, much more than its direct competitor 16-85, slightly migliore.rnBuona sharpness that offers from F7.1 to 13.rnIdeale for those who do not want to spend a blow and have a good 'all-rounder' that allows (obviously with its limitations) to pass from landscapes to portraits ... rnPeccato eg the AF and VR are 'largely ineffective'. rnInutile speak of brightness, like many others is a 3.5-5.6 and therefore not bright ... rnFastidioso sliding the zoom when I walk with the camera pointing down (but maybe my model). rnLo highly recommend for those approaching the world of photography but especially to those who are already 'entangled' and has many menate for the head. |
sent on March 20, 2013 Pros: Focal length (ie versatility), lightness, sharpness discreet. Cons: Construction, low light, Altina distortion at 18mm but manageable (disappears immediately stretched a little 'focus) Opinion: I came in with the car kit. The obietivo does his duty and is currently one of the few with an excursion really useful. Of course distorts a little 'and has a built a little' plasticky but if you are not matadors think we can do a lot to impress me tempo.rnNon colors and gives me a little 'discomfort distortion at 18mm, corrected for charity! RnIl VR helps a little, surely useful because the obligation is a bit 'dark and you have to stretch often times scatto.rnOttimo to travel and to take on a trip because it is not heavy and does what you need, if possible, to be completed with a true wide angle seen we're talking about APS-C.rnL 'autofocus is average. |
sent on February 13, 2013 Pros: value for money, autofocus, zoom range, the minimum focal distortion, sharpness Cons: brightness, may be faulty diaphragm on my exemplary construction Opinion: Primary objective bought bundled with the digital SLR zoom range to do everything from portraits to reportage photography ideal for a battle equip and travel, plasticky but solid construction, the brightness is definitely not the best but with a price like that is a wonder, absolutely sharp at all focal lengths ... my copy has a blade that does not close completely leave the hole in the diaphragm a bit 'small oval openings, and I think this affects some' shooting ... to be a zoom dall'escursione so wide I thought worse, but autofocus fast, accurate and quiet ... a purely personal comment is distortion at wide-angle 18: notable only in certain shots but completely natural and easily exploitable for shots a bit 'most characteristic ... recommended :) |
sent on January 09, 2013 Pros: Excellent wide-angle and zoom in a single lens, good sharpness, not too expensive, stabilizer. Cons: A little heavy, dim, little zoom drive (if you have to take a picture up to maximum focal length, the zomm it down slowly). Opinion: It 'was my first lens ever, held for the nikon d3100.rnIl great advantage is to have both an excellent wide-angle and a good zoom 105mm.rnSe be honest, I have never served a focal length greater than 105mm. I would like to have the 18-200mm but it costs too much. This however is at a lower price abbordabile.rnE 'dim, then suffer in dark environments, especially if the body is not high, because raising the iso is very noticeable the rumore.rnBuona thing is the presence of the stabilizer, even if it is of the highest quality (I just felt a little its contribution in the shots in low times). rnTutto in all, I consider it a good lens for entry-level quality / price ratio, much better than the 18-55 that comes out usually attached to macchina.rnrnLo advice then to newcomers in the world of photography :) |
sent on January 06, 2013 Pros: Excellent focal sharp at all focal lengths, price Cons: Brightness, stabilizer modest Opinion: It 'a great all-rounder for the trip but not limited to, is very sharp, light and without major defects. The autofocus has a reasonable speed for the intended use and is especially impeccable accuracy in low light, I do not remember ever having thrown a shot because out of focus. Presents significant distortions can be corrected easily but already in the car. RNLA rather complex optical construction makes it less bright than the opening geometric would understand due to a worse light transmission: compared with the Tamron 17-50 at f5.6, 50mm, shutter speed imposed autoiso activated and the Tamron I produced photos about 600-700 iso, while the nikon took about 1000 isornrnCose to improve: rnrn-graft metal guarnizionern-brightness modest: a f4.5 max would be the focal ottimalern-rounded diaphragm blades: does not generate the sunstars beautiful, especially in the photos notturnernrnCredo that brightness aside, the other two changes do not change the price significantly andor make it more suitable to a use professionale.rn |
sent on January 04, 2012 Pros: price, zoom range, good sharpness Cons: construction, brightness, slow AF, poor stabilizer, vignetting, and AC TA Opinion: For the price it is a good goal-rounder, good sharpness and color rendering, it is difficult to use in low light conditions due to the reduced brightness and the stabilizer is not very useful. the shorter focal distorts and Ta has vignetting and AC, all things cmq then corrected. The thing that I liked less than this is the construction quite plasticky, especially the bayonet plastic and not metal also comes a lot of dust from the lens front. As already mentioned, for the price that you can not expect more. |
sent on September 27, 2011 Pros: Focal length, quality / price ratio Cons: Brightness, strength bayonet Opinion: And 'the lens that I got bundled with my D90. I can definitely say that it is a good lens, light, with a decent autofocus and a focal allowing you to deal with most situations. Of course the brightness is at minimum wage, but at this price you ask for a zoom is impossible. The only criticism I would make is that the bayonet resin instead of metal. |
sent on September 27, 2011 Pros: Focal length, sharpness, value for money Cons: Brightness, autofocus Opinion: Great lens handyman characterized by a high zoom range, useful in most situations. The sharpness is excellent and it is not necessary diaphragm more than one stop to increase it further. The quality / price ratio is amazing, especially if you can find it at the price specified in the description above. Between defects is considered a slow autofocus and stabilization that is not a miracle (about two stops). The maximum brightness also does not create special effects blur especially at maximum focal length, but this is obviously the price to pay for a lens light and cheap that, in a nutshell, is particularly recommended for all those occasions when you have to travel light without compromising an excellent overall quality. |
