Opinion: This zoom is a small masterpiece for the price if we consider it for what it is: an entry level all-rounder that is often sold in kits. It must be said that it fits into a Canon system that, with stabilization and the ability to work at high iso, allows you to take home shots even in low light situations. I photographed in church cursing myself for not bringing a brighter lens. Shots with 105mm at 6400 iso and 7.1 aperture I saw them very badly. On the other hand, with lightroom Photoshop and a coat of topaz de noise, I got very decent results. In short, it is a lens with a very effective stabilizer, it costs little, it is light. On the other hand, the performance is not memorable. If you have to photograph indoors, you have to be careful to be ingenious and expect a lot of noise to be corrected. Outdoors, on the other hand, it's a whole different story, even if photographing details such as a flower swaying in the wind, the autofocus panics and you have to insist several times to catch it. I paid 320 euros for it. It seems to me that for the price it is worth a visit. The added value of this zoom is the minimum focusing distance: very few cm. With a ring flash, you get macro photos that are not possible with the rich twin of the L series.
