sent on 24 Novembre 2021 Pros: Sharp sharp sharp! Lightness, colors, aesthetics. Cons: Hood material. Opinion: Optically monstrous, the sharpness is incredible already at TA. This remarkable result allows, on Sony type A7III or A7IV to have almost a zoom, since the quality remains very high even cropping, in practice it is as if you had an 18-28 in your hand. Vivid colors are typically Zeiss. The lens has very few optical defects, however correctable via software. The construction, despite the lightness, give the impression of great solidity. Note of personal merit, the tulip aesthetic, particular and captivating, however so original as to make it immediately recognizable. I took it used by paying it the right, although from new it is perhaps slightly expensive. But its real flaw in my opinion is the hood, in simple plastic, inadequate to the coat of arms of the brand, blazon that for the rest I find fully respected by the incredible optical performance.
sent on 02 Luglio 2020 Pros: Compactness, quality, LED display that for night photos is a godsend, colors, open diaphragms rendering, dialing focus. Cons: The price (but the quality you pay), some small night flare. Opinion: I bought this used lens, and since I own it I can do it more than not, I think it will be a lens that I will never remove from the backpack. I use it with the sony A7II, so not quite the latest mirrorless sony house, but the results are always spectacular. Excellent build quality, with the goody of the led diplay on the barrel that for those who see little like me, at night is really indispensable. If it had been 14 mm it would have been a masterpiece! I would definitely buy it back
sent on 01 Luglio 2020 Pros: quality, weight Cons: nothing relevant Opinion: It is the first Zeiss that enters my backpack and I must say that this lens fully satisfies me at least in combination with sony a7r4. Excellent overall quality, light and therefore ideal for walks in the mountains, sharpness and rendering of superlative colors. I think it will remain forever in my backpack, which has never happened for any other lens I have possessed, promoted with flying colors!
sent on 11 Gennaio 2020 Pros: weight, clutter, color yield, microcontrast, sharpness to the awkward center, rendered to open diaphragms. Cons: field curvature, non-homogeneous rendering at the edges, exaggerated impact of diffraction. Opinion: Extreme lens... I would recommend to those looking for a high-performance wide to go on Tamron or the canon adapted if they want to use filters. or directly on 16 35 2.8 sony/12 24. I took it to have the top even at the edges and alternative solutions , the wider they start to have big compromises. let's say 18 is the last call to have an excellent frame on large pixels like a7r3 or a7r4. Over.. you go down! This glass is bought for minimal dimensions as a complementary lens to a 24 70/24 105... and its use destination is not the landscape but the reportage where it giants on any competitor on Full frame... In the center, just see the mtf of Cicala (lensrental) to see that if you use it with a big mpx in fact you can use crop that make the lens an 18/24 quality. embarrassing sharpness and quality of contrast, there is no better than already said. Problems arise at the edges, not for lack of quality but for a curvature of the field that if you use glass for landscapes requires fire on the edges to have an all-sharp frame. Another unfavorable point even if it arises from a huge pro is the yield to TA and up to 5.6 with sensors without resolute AA filter... IMPRESSIONANTE as in the minimum diffraction zones come out minimal details, subtle but perfectly reproduced not as do other glass (sigma on all) super-contrasted and almost passed by the black marker. but drawn with a pencil even 100% thin. all this disappears violently passed f8 and begins a veil, confroting the major openings, all over the frame (diffraction). Average and stable flare resistance lower than Canon competitors (15 35 f4 outstanding. 16 35 iii 2.8 INCREDIBILE) against which I tried the glass and against which everyone knelt out of respect :D Once you buy it you can say... 18 are settled. I can avoid thinking about it for life! :D Excellent lens that must be tamed and that you have to know how to use especially in the pesteristic ...
sent on 11 Gennaio 2020 Pros: Colors and sharpness at the top, blurred pleasant and progressive, light and well balanced compared to the Sony A7 bodies, AF fast and precise, good but not extreme flare resistance. Display on barrel very useful for night photography, dial focus fluid and pleasant. Cons: High price, lack of grip on lens body, slight distortion (disappears in a clik), body design and lampshade not for everyone. Opinion: Great lens for both yield and use. It pairs very well with the Sony A7 to which I have paired it and returns really pleasant images and with colors and tonal steps at the top. The display is very useful for night focus and smooth and pleasant to the touch. It may not convince design and lampshade but for everything else it is a beautiful lens.
sent on 22 Dicembre 2019 Pros: very light, excellent photo rendering Cons: slight diffraction to very closed diaphragms, a hair of distortion, nothing excessive anyway. It's completely smooth, so rotating it to hook it to the bayonet takes practice Opinion: Beautiful and very light lens. It's always in my bag, it's a pleasure to use this optics, even if 18mm I'm not really a handyman. Taken used at 1000 euros, I think whoever sold it to me took another one after rethinking... Used on A7III is a bomb, but on the A7rIII from the maximum. It has a very engraved rendering, especially, I recognize on the fly the photos taken with the Batis. I also tried the new Tamron wide-angle zoom, great, but not comparable to the small Batis. I recommend it without hesitation.
sent on 08 Settembre 2019 Pros: Sharp, compact, light, AF, distortion, Zeiss colors, the classic lens that will stay for life Cons: a soft coat at TA, there is some lag between lens and machine on the values displayed when you go to manual AF, a little difraction after f11 Opinion: I was looking for a wide optics for my A7RIII and in the end after evaluating a lot, I bought this... I was immediately impressed to feel the lightness and to see its fantastic sharpness. It occupies a small space inside any backpack favored even by its weight practically compared to zero, in my opinion an extraordinary lens even for all these factors. This does not detract from the fact that on A7RIII the image takes a fantastic mood typically zeiss. I don't feel like taking it off anymore!
sent on 04 Luglio 2019 Pros: Sharpness, focus screen, fast and performance, brightness, closed diaphragm star, tropicalization, lens construction quality Cons: I would say none, but I'll say a few small flares at night and finally just the fact that like all sony and zeiss lenses if you're at 42mpx at f/13-16 you're a bit already in ffraction but little stuff. it would be nice if the voigtlander didn't suffer from anything. Opinion: Big lens, used by me on both Sony A7r II, A7 III and A7r III. Sharpness is its strong point, followed by the overall quality of the lens and the performance autofocus. very bright lens, not like so many lenses that on paper are declared f/2.8 and then maybe they are not. I'd buy it over 100 more times, and I'm never going to walk away. I captured my most beautiful landscapes with this lens.

sent on 13 Dicembre 2018 Pros: Everything, sharpness, compactness, weight, field curvature, chromatic aberrations, autofocus, construction, in short, love at first sight. Cons: It definitely does not have an affordable price but few times I have seen such quality in such a small lens. Opinion: This is the first opinion I write about Juza. I've been trying, in these months, targets for the Sony FE system, so far I have used my Canon EF via Sigma MC-11 adapter and now I want to reduce weights and clutter starting from wide angles, last week I took the Sony FE 24 f1.4 GM which is very nice and sharp but my and Just think I was suffering from a high field curvature on the right of the frame, returned to the sender and bought a new one on Amazon that I still have to get there, then I took a Laowa 15 F2 Zero-D, built very well but, compared with the Zeiss 18 f2.8 Batis , it looks broken. The Zeiss was love at first sight, I admit that it has a strange shape, very flamed, unusual, but it is well built, well balanced on the A7RIII, autofocus fast and silent, the LED tuner is not bad, a touch of modernity that can come in handy in the dark, apart from the Focus Ring The rest is all metal and therefore cold as ice these days but sharp as a blade. Few lenses have made me do wow (speaking of the "full Frame" format) as I hail them, I know the FE 16-35 F 2.8 GM is much appreciated but I really wanted something compact and this Zeiss is. See all that detail up almost to the edges even at f2.8 (and up to F 6.3, at F8 you begin to see the effects of diffraction) in a weight of 330 grams well it's not a little thing considering how big and heavy the Sigma Art For example,. Beautiful and Costosetto, but it is a little guy with a nice character, vignette a bit ' to all opening me nothing dramatic, chromatic aberrations present but contained, the Sony 24 GM I found it slightly worse in this regard but, to tell the truth, the Batis I have not tried it yet in with Troluce and in areas of high brightness, the distortion is present but nothing excessive for a wide angle, indeed, I've seen worse. You have to keep in mind that it is really small, weighs little and does not have a protruding bulb lens as it is fashionable in recent years and is therefore easily filterable. Only flaw for me? The lack of a second ring as for the GM lenses to control the aperture aperture or a customizable button but I'll survive. I would have preferred a 15 mm type Distagon and if, by chance, they will also make a 12 or 14 mm version I will put in the queue to buy it and if the Sony 24 GM continue to give me the same problems as the first I tried I throw absolutely on the Batis 25 F2 and so many greetings. This 18 mm I love it already. Wonderful, worth every euro that costs! Loved.
sent on 08 Ottobre 2018 Pros: Exceptional sharpness, size, Flare management, noiselessness AF, field angle Cons: price, sometimes excessive distortion Opinion: I purchased this wide angle lens intrigued by the various reviews online views, but mostly for the size and weight really contained. It is eloquent right from the start that you have something extremely "premium" in your hands, the assemblies are extremely cured and the ring is soft and it is easy to make perfect MAF thanks to the OLED display that displays the Distance. It is an extraordinary lens: exceptional sharpness, angle of field and management of the Flare are his battle horses while with regard to the distortion I find that sometimes it is a bit too excessive (nothing serious, with Photoshop with the appropriate profile and some Another adjustment is always the quadra). It is to date a lens that I recommend for landscapers but also for interior photographs, perhaps the only lens that could make me change my mind is the Sigma Art 14 1.8. Last but not least the price: it is a lens that only on the used one enjoys an attractive price: it is possible to find specimens with €900, while on the new one must reason on double the digit.
sent on 26 Aprile 2018 Pros: Sharpness across the frame, ac absent, lightning-fast and accurate Af, Zeiss colors, lightness, price, flare, what are they? Cons: don't have it, find in used ... Ma chi lo venederebbe? Opinion: I am using this wonderful lens on my A7r3 with enormous satisfaction for a while and I can only praise him. I switched recently to Sony, before I had Nikon d850, and the obsessive search of a wide angle was killing me. I couldn't find never the quality I was looking for and I was satisfied (so to speak) of the tamron 15-30. Since I switched to sony I took for the Batis 18 on the advice of 3 friends who are from before me in Sony and they always thank her. I have to say, has it all. quality, lightness, screw, flare, and distortion filters is not received, Ac absent. a gem, worth much more than what it costs. and then the colors and quality Zeiss lenses are seen in all respects. I hope strongly in a version of wide type 14 mm of this gem, putting obviously. 10 + to this wonderful lens.
