Pros: Sharpness, size, weight, cost

Cons: AF slightly noisy and not very fast, materials

Opinion: I've been using it for a short time and I'm a neophyte for certain focal lengths that attracted me a lot to complete my kit to bring home impossible shots with the focal lengths I owned. Well, I thought I would use it much less, in exceptional circumstances and instead it is more versatile than I expected. Great for interiors, architecture, but also landscapes and even street. Bright enough even for shooting at night, it surprises with its sharpness. And then the weight and size allow you to always carry it with you (it fits comfortably in its case in the pocket of a jacket).

Pros: See review

Cons: For the expense/return ratio little or nothing. See review

Opinion: A fantastic and at the same time difficult lens. I start with the price/performance ratio. Certainly very remarkable. With a low price (very low), this lens offers incredible performance and yield. As favorable points I undoubtedly emphasize its size and weight. Lightweight and comfortable to carry. The compromise to have such a low weight also lies in the materials with which it is built: forget metal or metal alloys, all polycarbonate. This, in my opinion, is not a defect because the plastic material is of a very good level and, importantly, the graft is made of metal. No aperture ring, for some a limit but not for me. It depends on personal preference. It is not tropicalized but at this price it would be asking too much. Just a good size focusing ring with smooth movement but with the correct resistance. And then there is the autofocus, perhaps not essential in such a perspective but for me its presence is a plus. Autofocus which by the way is silent and quite fast. Lens not stabilized but who would need the stabilizer on a super wide angle? As a result I would say very good. Very low distortions considering the focal length. Good even at full opening and becomes impeccable by closing a hair. Some complain of a certain propensity to flare. I have not detected a tendency to this phenomenon unless I have the sun in the center of the frame. Well engraved rendering, excellent in the center even at full opening and satisfactory at the edges (not perfect but satisfying). At f4 almost perfect over the entire frame. I was amazed by the performance of this glass compared to the price. For comparison, I own the TTArtisan 10 mm. In my opinion there is no comparison in terms of performance, especially at the edges that suffer in the latter at TA and you have to close quite a bit to have satisfactory results. And then, if we talk about flare tendency, I noticed it at least 10 times as much in TTArtisan as in Vitrox. And then TTArtisan is manul focus. The non-top sides of Vitrox? For the price I would say negligible. There is a certain propensity for vignetting, present at TA but detectable even by closing well. Of course, the vignetting "disappears" with the corrections via software, but if you exclude the corrections it is there and very evident. Which is still expected given the width of the framed field. At the beginning I talked about a difficult lens, this is absolutely not meant to be a note to such glass. More than anything else, it is a reference to wide-angle focal lengths, all of them and of every brand. It is not easy to use them constructively and it is not trivial to find captivating scenes. You run the risk of using them as a funnel: inside everything and multiple and tiny subjects without a center of interest. It's not an everyday lens or one to keep fixed on the camera. But this, as mentioned, is a feature of all ultra-wide-angle cameras and not a limitation of the Viltrox. I have to say that, with the right subject, the Viltrox provides superb and very very beautiful results. I have not found any flaws in the yield. Happy with the purchase? Yes, of course. Do I recommend it? Without a doubt. For the price, it provides superb results.

Pros: Sharpness, weight, low distortions, price

Cons: No aperture ring

Opinion: I wanted to get the 8-16 2.8 Fuji, but before paying a considerable amount and not yet having clear the use I would have made of it I decided to buy this 9 mm, just tried, boom!!! I didn't believe that with just over 200 € I could have this quality. Is it perfect? No, but it has many qualities first of all excellent sharpness and minimal distortion at the extreme edges, I think inevitable with these focal lengths. I highly recommend it because at this price it is a must have if you like extreme wide angles

Pros: Compactness, f2.8 aperture, no distortion and price

Cons: For the cost absolutely nothing

Opinion: Of Viltrox I have the 75 - 27 F1.2 and the 13 F1.4 here these are of another level both body construction ,engraving and price But the small 9mm defends itself very well at such an extreme angle if used correctly it has no distortion it does not "stretch" you have sides of the frame Here you see a bit of chromatic aberration in extreme contexts though I have never tried the original 8mm and I can't do it a comparison but this 9mm costs 1/3 In conclusion the 3 lenses mentioned above in my humble opinion are EXCEPTIONAL ... the small 9mm VERY GOOD I highly recommend it Greetings

Pros: Everything, but above all small and light and sharp.

Cons: Too bad it's only APS-C

Opinion: Extraordinary optics, it completely enraptured me, on the Z50 II it is perfect. Fast AF, very minimal distortion, first-class sharpness, Flare management I would say well contained. And who expected it, from a negligible cost a robust and flawless performance. I also tried it on Z8, in DX mode, and even on its sensor it showed an efficiency on distortion and sharpness that I did not expect. The same 14-24 at the minimum focal length has difficulty at the edges, the small 9 mm in comparison plays on an equal footing. Absolutely rated 10 !!!

Pros: Sharpness, weight, size, price, brightness, distortion.

Cons: Flare resistance.

Opinion: A respectable lens in relation to the cost; with € 200 you take home a nice wide angle equivalent to 13.5mm on FF. Tried with the Z50II, on the road, I fell in love with it. A light and space-saving combination that allows you to take home excellent sharp shots with good color rendering. The only complaint is the resistance to flare but it can be safely overlooked given the low cost of this lens. The plasticky lens hood is also included, however, it does its job and attaches quite well. A lens that I highly recommend, well done Viltrox.

Pros: Sharpness, distortion-free, weight and size

Cons: I haven't encountered any yet

Opinion: I'm a fan of super-wide-angle lenses and, over the years, I've spent a good amount of money to buy them. I have had and used sigma, tamron and tokina and I have to say that none have the quality of this small and cheap Viltrox. It may seem impossible but with a figure of around 200 euros you can have a sharp 9 mm with a respectable aperture (2.8). Surely there are some features that allow it to have a lower cost (and by a lot) than the many other super wide-angle cameras on the market. First of all is that it is not a zoom, but anyway (we all know) supergrandongali zooms are almost always used at the widest focal length. The absence of the zoom also made the design easier to the point of ensuring almost no distortion. It lacks stabilization, but even if many purists will certainly find some reason to criticize this "lack" I would assure you that at 9 mm the stabilizer is completely useless. I use it daily and appreciate its focusing speed, aesthetics, optical and build quality. I rate it with a full 10.
