Pros: Construction, brightness, price, autofocus

Cons: Grafting, image quality, copy variability (see review)

Opinion: Given the many positive reviews about this lens, I'm sure I received an unfortunate copy of the Viltrox 33 f/1.4; However, I leave the review to warn that you can run into a specimen that is not up to par and it is therefore good to buy from sellers who give the possibility to return the lens if it is not adequate. The construction is good: the lens turns out to be quite heavy and solid, with fluid rings (the aperture ring is declicked, not very practical); the autofocus is silent and appears sufficiently fast; the graft on Fuji X-T5 was instead very difficult, hard, and this was the first alarm bell. The disappointment was total when I found that the image quality was really painful: in the center no sharpness up to f/2.8-f/4, at the edges not even at smaller apertures. Not even remotely comparable with the Fuji 16-80 f/4 nor with the Fuji 27 f/2.8 (without bothering inappropriate comparisons with excellent lenses such as the Fuji 90), my copy was unusable at apertures lower than f/4-f/5.6, so I immediately returned it (an f/1.4 lens is bought to use it even at full aperture, otherwise you opt for less bright and more compact fixed ones). Of the numerous lenses owned, this was the only one to be totally unacceptable, probably the quality control is not the best and defective copies can happen. I replaced it with the Viltrox 35 f/1.7 Air, which is lighter and cheaper.

Pros: Mechanics, optics, maneuverability and even aesthetics in my humble opinion.

Cons: If I enlarge the letters of the PC keyboard photographed at f1.4 and start to blur forward, they are "outlined" with red and back with blue, (chromatic aberration?) By closing the aperture, already at f2 they disappear

Opinion: Even if it has few comments on the web, I immediately noticed, especially from the photos of beginners like me, that this lens brought out the potential it is capable of.. (Don't call it "glass, please). Imperceptible aberration, "macro" sharpness, pleasant blur nuances and stability thanks to the metal of which it is built. I posted my kitten in the dark with dilated pupils to show that she was in the dark and I was thrilled. The "shots" for the apertures are missing but what are they for if it can be driven by the camera body in A?

Pros: It's cheap, it's made of metal, lens hood included and well built, Silensic autofocus.

Cons: (Version for eos m) Absolutely unsharp at all apertures, difficulty in finding the focus even at smaller apertures and with the latest firmware update.

Opinion: I recently bought this lens in its version for eos-m, mounted on eos m6 it immediately proved to be not up to par, it made me lose a lot of shots (even if I hold down the shutter button the camera often does not shoot because it does not find the focus) then it has minor problems such as flare but this can be accepted on a cheap lens

Pros: Sharpness, focus, price, materials

Cons: Aperture ring unclicked but I don't care

Opinion: Bought used for 200 euros, I have to say that it is money well spent. At the edges the sharpness decreases but for me it is not a defect for such an optics, on the contrary it emphasizes the central part creating a bokeh all in all pleasant. At the level of its brand correspondents at a very competitive price. I think I'll get another little brother in the family.

Pros: AF, Construction, sharpness, price

Cons: Aperture ring declicked

Opinion: For the price it costs it's a little gem. Equivalent focal length of 50mm so a true classic. Sharp, lightweight and constructed all metal. Well-made metal lens hood. Lightning-fast autofocus comparable to home lenses. I use it on X-T4 so with the ibis you make up for the lack of stabilization. For those who are used to hearing the clicks of the aperture ring, it may be a small annoyance not to have this feedback, but you get used to it. It can be found used at great prices and for the quality it offers, once purchased, it deserves to be kept. I use it mainly for portraiture.

Pros: Lightweight, small and good flare resistance

Cons: nothing dramatic

Opinion: I used it for a while on the Xe2 because on the XPRO series it creates problems for me and I found it as excellent as the famous "magic" 35mm. It costs half but even less today and is worth the money spent. AF sometimes fails with low-light scenes, but so does Fuji. Usually I shoot in manual so I do not pose the problem if it does not find AF. Light more than expected and not as big as it may seem from the photos. It is not a focal length to my liking but it is not worth selling it for a few pennies since it has been too criticized to the point of collapsing the price of the new. Ring decliccata has its pros and cons and until now I have never happened to move it unintentionally.

Pros: AF like a Fuji, light although it looks metal, cost

Cons: Diaphragm ring decliccata

Opinion: I have been using it on Fuji xt3 and xe4 for about seven months. A 33mm 1.4 (a 50mm on FF). Objective well done in all its parts including the hood that still has a small yoke but nothing serious. It costs much much less than the respective Fuji which I think is overwhelmed, for what it costs it is a must have. Very good AF also in low light and AF-C. Other pros and cons in description.

Pros: Sharpness and good flare resistance

Cons: The maf, at least on my z50, is not a lightning bolt even if all in all in good light conditions it copes rather well ... but when the light goes down they are pains (he made me lose several shots by completely reedding the maf)

Opinion: After the first uses I was enthusiastic about it but after squeezing the lens in more complex light conditions here is that the maf went to be blessed (my 16-50 Nikon is much, much faster and always very precise). I believe that the fact of not being a lens of the parent company is a problem because Nikon has not given the patents to any third party company and, despite the effort of Viltrox in doing reverse engineering, to date the results have not been up to par, maybe with a new update things will improve. I made the return to Amazon and now I will wait for the next releases of the new Nikon Z right lenses ... for the moment I ''will settle'' for my pancake 16-50 (great).

Pros: Construction and price.

Cons: Chromatic aberration and full aperture rendering.

Opinion: I have the Tokina version that seems to be optically and mechanically the same (see review) and that should be different only for the software (for example it works with XT4's IBIS). I do not agree with the expressions of enthusiasm about the optical rendering. I compared the lens with the Fuji XF 16-80, which is certainly not a lens optimized for sharpness. There is no history, the Tokina loses on all fronts even closed to F/4. At F/2 and F/1.4 there are obvious aberrations (see comparison image in the review). Large aperture may be acceptable for making portraits with subject in the center and background at the blurred edge. On the other hand if I have to close the aperture then the zoom is better. Update. After some other tests I decided to return it. Update 2. I was in a physical store to try the Fuji XF 35 F2 which I eventually got (see other comparison photo). Compared to the Tokina I gained tropicalization, lightness and compactness and a lot of image quality (see comparison). You lose a bit of Bokeh (*) but F2 is fully exploitable. (*) Note I also tried the XF 35 F1.4 to see the difference in the Bokeh which is not dramatic. Incidentally, it is true that the Fuji F1.4 has a noisy autofocus motor. But it is also true that the Tokina has the diaphragm just as noisy and moves it continuously (sorry to note that many reviews insist on engine noise but do not say about the noise of the diaphragm).

Pros: All

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: I've had it for about a month. I use it on the Nikon Z50 along with the 16-50 and 50-250. It is excellent for me. I did not do laboratory tests, but only took photos, portraits of my children, my wife and landscapes. I can not find faults, it is sharp, good on the whole frame, does not suffer from flare, ghost, lowering of contrast in backlight. The aberration will be there (as read around) but for the moment in my photos I have not yet noticed it. The construction is beautiful, all in metal including the hood supplied (which I keep upside down and I have never used yet given the great performance with the parasitic lights). The AF is very fast and quiet (incredible for a Chinese lens). The diaphragm ring without click (some do not like it) for me is very comfortable, I use it in S mode by fixing the safety time and I set the desired aperture, so that the machine can only choose the ISO to expose correctly. Unfortunately the Z50 does not have the stabilizer or even the optics, which forces me to pay attention to the safety times. However, with the Z50 it is very comfortable and proportionate, it seems born for her. The BOKEH, I put it in capital letters because what to say, amazing! Always soft and gradual, remaining engraved in the parts on fire. He manages not to make me regret the PanaLeica 25 1.4 that I had with the m4/3!!! Super-recommended, it's how I would like Nikon to build its lenses for APS-C and I think that as soon as I can I will evaluate other Viltrox to support.

Pros: Metal barrel of yesteryear, sharpness, blurred. On Z fc it is perfectly balanced. Excellent hood.

Cons: It is not marked with a noble name.

Opinion: What can I say, received in 36 hours "prime", worth every penny, accuracy of the graft, fast autofocus even with wide area. Neutral cold colors, not known dominant, perhaps, I say perhaps, overexposes by less than a third of diaphragm, just know it first. Used freehand in a slightly soft evening light, it does not close the shadows. Af quick but not instantaneous. Silent. Positive note, in addition to the soft fabric bag, a real semi-glossy black metal hood on the outside, knurled on the inside. I think I'll pass a coat of matte spray or matte black inside to avoid spurious reflections. Mechanics and construction 10 laude. I add, a month later, embarrassing sharpness at f1.4. Of course the depth of field is reduced. And the overexposure is there but only with the Matrix measurement which is the one I use for panoramas. I posted some photos.

Pros: Out-of-the-ordinary value for money, construction, autofocus

Cons: Tendency to tinge towards cold tones (at least on XF version for Fuji)

Opinion: I purchased the XF version for Fuji and I have to say that I was really surprised and really very satisfied. Lens built of metal, returns a feeling of solidity and robustness. Slightly larger than the 35mm of Fuji house, but still light and compact. The AF system works excellently, maybe it's even faster than Fuji's and certainly less noisy. Really very good sharpness, as well as the bokeh effect. On this last aspect I perhaps prefer the effect returned by Fuji, but in general I have to say that the images are always very pleasant, have a nice paste and are well disputed. Note a certain tendency of the Viltrox lens to veer towards cold tones, which can still be corrected effortlessly in post-production. Considering the price, it's a lens to take on the fly... Undoubtedly!

Pros: Bright, Price, Material Quality, Continuous Updates, Autofocus

Cons: A few aberrations at maximum openings.

Opinion: Taken just a week ago, I'm having a great time on my XT-2. Updated as soon as you arrived at the November firmware that adjusted the focus to the minimum distance. Built very well, with a strong feeling of robustness and solidity. The image quality, for me, that I am an amateur is also above my needs. The photos are very three-dimensional and sharp. Some aberrations at maximum openings but it's very normal. It doesn't affect the final quality. Super-lending autofocus. I use it as a single spot and face reveal and it works great. He must have missed one shot out of ten shots. At 290 euros I am very happy to have brought home a lens mr, given that Fuji's older brother currently costs 570 on Amazon. I'm going to post some evidence on the profile of the photos I took this week. Ps. small note. the lens paste tends to blue like the Zeiss, I solved by moving the white balance diagonally towards the orange of 2 steps. and in post adding 200 of value to the car balance.

Pros: Brightness, price, metal lampshed, image quality, ultrasonic autofocus

Cons: Chromatic aberrations up to f/2, tendency to purple, declied diaphragm ring

Opinion: It's a fantastic lens, it's made great since all the time, even though it's not very sharp at f/1.4, but it's there. Welcome the lampshon, well built and made of metal. It has a very good AF, very quiet and fluid, at least for me who use it for photos, for video I did some tests and it performs well, but I did not try it thoroughly. There is some flaw to live with, the most annoying is the chromatic aberration, visible up to f/2, but manageable with two clicks on lightroom, as well as the trend on purple. One thing I'll never get used to is the declied diaphragm ring, apparently useful for those who make videos, but the diaphragm still moves to stop thirds, so it's just annoying for those taking photos. In conclusion, it is a lens to have, especially at this price.

Pros: Price, AF, construction, yield, character

Cons: AC, declied diaphragm ring

Opinion: This is a lens mr., some of the best I've ever had. It has optical defects such as AC, a bit to tame in some situations because the purple halo is annoying but all in all manageable and when there are the correction profiles specific to LR it will no longer be even a thought, otherwise it is the price to pay to have a lens with CHARACTER, which in 2020 is almost difficult as there are too many sharp lenses but without microcontrast or hypercorrect that are eventually flat. In addition it is very sharp, the AF is fast, quiet and reliable even in tracking, built very well and entirely made of metal, even the lampshed, the blurry is soft and buttery. In short, for less than 300€ on Amazon you take home a "fifty" but of the tough ones, with some defects but with a really remarkable yield. I didn't just understand something from Viltrox, why do clickless diaphragm rings when the opening is still jerky because it's electronic? You lose tactile feedback this way and you always have to check the value.
