sent on 05 Dicembre 2025 Pros: Weight/size, price, presence of aperture ring, Cons: Grip aperture ring, microcontrast at TA Opinion: Given that for the amount at which this lens is sold (paid 105 but you can find it on offer safely at 110-120) there are no real defects, but I start from those. The grip and use (especially for quick changes) of the aperture ring is clearly not studied... ok the design and minimalism but here it's a bit much. Basically, those like me who do not constantly change the opening will not feel the weight of the defect. Second small compromise, more than sharpness it lacks that microcontrast at full aperture. The images are absolutely not washed out, and still acceptably sharp, but you have to go up by 1stop to be already at 90% of the lens's potential. I'm not talking about vignetting as a defect (excuse me, perhaps) but as a distinctive trait: it's there, it's evident and it never disappears completely (but at 5.6 it's almost completely negligible). Those who buy it must know it, knowing it can be appreciated. Or at least those like me looking for and possibly adding a bit of vignetting in PP this lens is a boon. In practice, at f2.8 you shoot: either to have a bit of blur and thus enhance the subject in the center (portraits, still life, macro, etc.) and in this case the vignetting does not disturb but emphasizes; or if you shoot in low light, and in night shots (where there are those unwanted lights at the edges / corners) the vignetting often gives a nice hand and in any case a touch of character (always personal opinion let's be clear). For landscape or street photography, the apertures rise quickly to f5.6-8 and vignetting is negligible. The choice to give a touch of darker sky to the corners, using vignetting, can make a weapon what would instead be a defect at f2.8-4, I hope I have explained myself. For the rest it is small, it is light, it is discreet (which for me never hurts). I also like the small lens hood that doesn't actually shield too much from the almost frontal light, but protects the lens much better and also makes it easier to use the cap. The autofocus is more than satisfactory compared to other lenses of the Fuji system, on which I use it. The color rendering and contrast are also pleasant already from f4. The sharpness is truly amazing given the value for money. I'm not talking about the 40mm equivalent focal length, that's subjective. For me, as an everyday lens (which I find the 35 eq. tending to be correct but sometimes not very intimate and the 50 eq. too narrow especially in the interiors) it was the point of arrival...
sent on 18 Ottobre 2025 Pros: Value for money, size, lens hood included with cap that adheres, brightness. Cons: Uncomfortable aperture ring, not very fast focusing. Opinion: In relation to the price, it is a very comfortable and very light lens that you have to buy. Very good photos, especially from full aperture at intermediate focal lengths. Bright, sharp, defined colors without noticeable aberrations from any point of view. Aperture grille nice for the half stop, but uncomfortable because it is smooth with only two protuberances of adherence to the fingers, but not insurmountable. Focus sometimes slow. But overall the game is worth the candle.
sent on 25 Aprile 2025 Pros: sharpness; autofocus speed; Colors; Tones; price Cons: A nice vignette halo that engages a bit in post production. Opinion: In itself it contributes to obtaining beautiful shots, with beautiful colors and excellent tones. The autofocus is quite quick. The best context is the street. It can be an all-rounder when traveling, also due to its small footprint. Vignetting annoys when you want the homogeneity of a clear sky or when you want to do fine art on BN.
sent on 03 Marzo 2025 Pros: Compactness; construction; value for money; character, if you like. Cons: Uncertain AF in low light; not stabilized; character, if you don't like it. Opinion: I got this lens, with Sony E mount, to have a compact and brighter alternative to the 16-50 kit that I sometimes like to use. Compactness and lightness are fine; my Sony a6000 with this lens remains pocket-sized. The construction seems to me well done; the aperture ring is a bit awkward but OK; the cork is badly made and always comes off; the back cap has a USB connection with which you can update the firmware (very simple operation). That said, let's see how it performs in practice. First: at the price of 130 Euros (new on Ebay), I think there is little to complain about. The autofocus is quiet, and when there is light, it works well; with little light it often struggles and, sometimes, it goes crazy and you have to do a "reboot", that is, detach the lens and reassemble it (turning the camera off and on again is not enough). In low light, I noticed that setting the focus area to "center" works better. Too bad there is no stabilization; but from 1/30'' upwards you can shoot by hand without problems. This is a lens with such a big character, which you may like or not. Strong vignetting up to f/8 (but from f/4 it corrects well in post); flares that can be either absent or so absurd as to be beautiful; a "swirly bokeh", less accentuated than the Helios 44* and therefore less invasive, which I find very nice. In my profile you can find some photos to get an idea. In my opinion, the best use of this lens is obviously for street photos, for interiors and especially for short-distance photos (objects, still lifes, flowers, animals, etc.), where it has excellent sharpness. You may or may not like his character.
sent on 12 Dicembre 2024 Pros: Construction, image quality, price Cons: Vignetting Opinion: All in all it's not bad, on my X-T50 and its mega sensor it's fine, especially if we compare it to the price at which it is sold. The only real flaw that I would like to point out is the exaggerated vignetting. Basically it doesn't bother me too much, but actually you notice a lot. For the rest it is built well, the autofocus is fine, the rings are well frictioned, all in all for the price it is great!
sent on 23 Aprile 2024 Pros: Price, Size, Weight, Vignetting, Cap to update FW Cons: Slow MAF, Vignetting, Slow Iris Opinion: I bought this optic about 6 months ago, new, on Amazon, arrived, mounted and always kept with me for a weight factor and comfort. All in all I have to say that it's not bad, in fact it's a good alternative to the original Fuji. If it is purchased with the intention of taking a reasoned type of photo then it is fine, since it is quite slow in the MAF, sometimes uncertain, slow is also the aperture that creates that feeling of flickering when you look at the eyepiece, quite annoying for my taste. The fact of the TA vignetting (which disappears at about f4) is good for those like me who are looking for that effect in the shots, so you don't need a post to insert such an effect; it can be a con for the simple fact that if I don't want vignetting I'm forced to close the aperture and sometimes, especially in low light, it's not so advantageous, a bit like the MAF that in low light or in areas with little contrast suffers a bit. Small lens hood, not so functional, I would have preferred a larger lens hood to tell the truth, the cap can be lost since it is tiny in all respects. Excellent idea to insert the connection to the PC from the back cap to update the FW, useful yes, and no, since the last update dates back to a year ago... In conclusion, good in itself but with some limitations, but in the end for what you pay for it it can also be there.
sent on 06 Marzo 2024 Pros: Price, Size & Weight Cons: Vignetting, focus in dark areas Opinion: Bought used for 120€, initially I wanted the fuji to take me on my trip to Japan, but given the opportunity to try the focal length I couldn't miss it. During this trip he stayed on camera 90% of the time, eventually replaced by the 35mm 1.4 fuji during the evening. Kept the package hanging around my neck all day every day and honestly I loved it, vignetting yes present and the focus sometimes is a bit damning, but the photos I took for my rookie level I love them. I'll leave the evaluations on sharpness and colors to those who know much more. The focal length is sometimes limiting as already written by Juza on the fuji da 27, now I would like to try a 23mm for personal whim, I was aiming for the sigma. (If only pancakes did, but then the X100 would lose its sense, wouldn't it?) TLDR: approved if bought around 100€, very fun if you accept its compromises
sent on 07 Febbraio 2023 Pros: not expensive, lightweight and compact, diaphragm bezel, construction in general Cons: T.A. sharpness up to 5.6 insufficient, unresponsive AF in low-light situations Opinion: Purchased to replace the 27 mm fuji first type, the construction is impeccable, it looks well made and robust despite the price and weight, in T.A. I consider it unusable, insufficient sharpness, after 5.6 begins to be usable (obviously according to my evaluation criteria) the AF in the presence of good light is excellent, snappy, precise and responsive but as soon as the light begins to be poor or difficult it is nailed. Compared to the old 18mm fuji f2 the fuji is much sharper at all apertures and cropping the frame to 27 mm while losing resolution the result is tettamente superior. I asked for the return after I got to try another specimen with the same results.
sent on 27 Gennaio 2023 Pros: Lightweight, economical, compact, snap aperture ring Cons: Slight difficulty in MAF in dark areas Opinion: Took this lens for Street photography. Very economical lens, vignetting present, with the classic photo editing programs. I focused good even if in the dark areas struggles a little to hook.photographs of all respect excellent. Updates are made with a copy paste. Let's say that the focus is very similar to the 27 first Fuji series. Advice
sent on 16 Gennaio 2023 Pros: Value for money, dimensions, material Cons: cap, diaphragm ring (not so relevant) Opinion: I wanted to wait to give my opinion on this lens as I actually wanted to understand its qualities well. As summarized in the pros and cons, there is the price quality factor, which for a street use, landscape, is more than fine, even the af is nice reactive .. Perhaps in the dark it is a bit difficult, but having tried it with a somewhat dated room, that is also the disadvantage. Surely with models in step of today holds much better performance, beyond this I was looking for a fixed lens, especially small and very portable, trying not to use a zoom to take pictures and then set and try of my own free will the best possible framing. Not being able to compare it to the original Fuji, but having read numerous reviews, I think it is an absolute best buy, as right now I have a camera + lens that I literally put in my pocket or baby carrier, so I buy it right if you look for what I described. If you have already read its potential, I also confirm a vignetting quite present, but in the end it does not bother absolutely and above all if not necessary solvable. Unique in the found so far, the cap of poor quality, but only of manufacture as regards the closure, remains closed without problems ... only to the touch it is a bit cheap .... greetings to all
sent on 16 Gennaio 2023 Pros: Compact, good value for money, af, optical quality Cons: Slow diaphragm, with noticeable result flickering by pressing the shutter button, awkward aperture ring. Opinion: Lens with good optical quality and with appreciable characteristics compared to the original old and dated 27 mm Fuji. The only negative note, such as the brothers Viltrox 23 F1.4 presented by a "slow" diaphragm, such as to cause quite annoying flickering, but perhaps not everyone could bother, this effect disappears using the AF-C mode.
sent on 30 Novembre 2022 Pros: Compactness, sharpness, price Cons: Aperture ring a bit uncomfortable Opinion: I took it to replace a 27 2.8 Fuji that broke me, unfortunately. A pancake was a must, for most of my uses. I have been using it intensively for several days on different cameras. I was impressed, honestly, I did not expect such a yield, with a good sharpness already at maximum aperture. It presents a rather pronounced vignetting at F2.8, but I don't find it dramatic. The build quality is excellent, certainly quality materials ... A mini-hood is included that never detaches... The cap fits perfectly, the only element a little saving, to tell the truth. The only note is on the diaphragm ring, which I find uncomfortable, because it has only two grip points at 180 degrees and is not always comfortable to maneuver, perhaps it would have been more comfortable by positioning the two slightly rotated grips, but they are details .. However, I consider it a highly recommended purchase, absolutely, and not only in relation to the price ... Compared to other Chinese goals I have and had, it's really on another level... Great, I would say.
