sent on 15 Febbraio 2026 Pros: Focal range, sharpness, compactness, price Cons: Brightness Opinion: Excellent tele that you can take home at a really competitive price. I found it to be very responsive and with good image quality. The lens is compact and on the Sony ML it is absolutely manageable in terms of ergonomics. I've taken it with me on many treks, and it's a great lens; Obviously it is not bright but at this price and with this size you can't expect more.
sent on 23 Agosto 2025 Pros: Lightness Cons: No zoom lock Opinion: I contextualize that I have been using it for a few years with the Sony7iv and I am particularly satisfied. Taking into account its particularly competitive cost, I find it of excellent quality both in terms of photographic restitution and materials. I state that I am not a professional photographer and I have never had high-end telephoto lenses to compare with. Despite this, I am very satisfied with the sharpness of the photos. Personally, I believe that its greatest merit is its lightness. For backpacking trips, if it were heavier I probably wouldn't carry it with me by default because of the overall weight (I travel with a camera, 2 lenses including zoom and drone). Unfortunately, in certain positions, it tends to stretch on its own with gravity and there the need for a blockage might be felt.
sent on 17 Dicembre 2024 Pros: I did not expect such a beautiful, detailed and sharp result. It is lightweight and well built. Focusing is lightning fast and accurate. Cons: I didn't find anything. It is also true that today I used it for the first time Opinion: Bought at 580 € with free UV filter. What more do we want? The results were excellent despite the cloudy day. Tamron is a guarantee. I was fine when I had the D700 and the lens was f2.8. this one is less bright but it doesn't make me regret its predecessor. now I use it on Nikon Z6. I am very satisfied with it. Thank you TAMRON
sent on 06 Aprile 2024 Pros: Fast, accurate and quiet AF; Light for the type; PRICE! Cons: The zoom lock button is missing. Not excellent image quality. Opinion: I used it for a short time with a Sony A7III, I must say that, despite the remarkably low price compared to the competition, it has excellent build quality. Ok, a zoom lock button is missing but I have never found any problems as I read from other reviews. As for the image quality, for its price range it is fairly good. Compact for a super-zoom. Fast, precise and quiet autofocus, which is therefore also suitable for video.
sent on 14 Settembre 2023 Pros: Lightweight, comfortable, tropicalized, excellent bokeh even if it does not excel in focal amplitude, AF quite fast Cons: slippery zoom and thick if used vertically tends either to retract or to stretch, lacking lock button Opinion: Mainly used for birdlife without claiming to get at who knows what distance, if used with mirrorless above 33 Mpx you can get excellent crops. It does not excel in brightness with its f6.3 on 300mm, however with today's mirrorless you can very well compensate in the triangle. Also used for video does not go crazy, if only if you use the APS-C mode in the settings, you gain a good 1.5x zoom.
sent on 05 Luglio 2023 Pros: Lightweight, Lightweight, compact and sharp! Cons: A scroll lock key is missing. Opinion: Taken in Nikon Z version, a review certainly controversial, I had read judgments of not excellence of this optic, soft at 70mm at the edges, kneads at 300 .. plastic body. They had convinced me to stay tied to the FTZ with 70/300 AFP (really good). But then I wanted to risk ... taken!!! Compared to the 70-200 Z ehhhh clearly does not hold and compared with the 80-400 Z .. ditto.. but to the test of the facts it is sharp from 70 to 300 just enough, and it is a remarkable enough, and has a beautiful bokeh .. it did not make me regret absolutely the 70-300 AFP, the same quality at the two extreme focal lengths, but, surprise, higher than the intermediate clearly, and all in a greater compactness ... and it's sharp.... maybe it is not suitable for some sensors ?? Perhaps?? (The MTFs are against me). I do not allow myself to judge, but on Z6II it went very well, also tried on Z5 WHERE I actually noticed a hair of softness at the edges .. but just a hair and only at 70mm as if there were a difference between the z6II backlit sensor and the cmos sensor of the z5. All seasoned with a nice lightness and compactness, too bad it lacks internal stabilization. I will then update with the tests on Z8, but certainly a nice optics.
sent on 27 Giugno 2023 Pros: Light, tropicalized, well built, optically valid, excellent value for money. Cons: fine detail loss to 300mm in some cases Opinion: I just got out for sony E this lens and I had a great time but I didn't get to test it too much as it was just a test before taking the 200-600 sony. Currently I have the version for Nikon Z that is performancefully identical to the other mount but that in addition 'has the usb-c input for any updates (so without the aid of a docking or without performing the update as for sony grafted on the camera body ... with any risks that could be taken). In this period where if you want these focal lengths on nikon z you have only this choice or resort to the accrocco of the ftz with a 70-300 nikon F ... I think we can be more than satisfied. This lens responds well to af, and 'light, and' tropicalized and also at a constructive level, despite being in polycarbonate, it seems stable and well assembled. The optical part does not suffer particularly from aberrations and flare but it must be said that if at 300mm you try to get the greatest reproduction ratio, often the details are kneaded: better to move away a little and crop or shoot at less than 300mm. It should also be said that it is a lens that you take home on offer at 470 euros ..... What more could you ask for? Perhaps a more "macro/closeup" reproduction ratio like the "brothers" 20,24 and 35? (which I remember being of the same line and above all the same diameter 67mm). Nikon has already 'rebadged 2 tamron's lenses(28-75 and 70-180) but this 70-300 no(maybe the nikon z will come out?) and since the nikkor 180-600 is now reality.... Dear Tamron, why don't you adjust the 150-500 also for nikon Z? (since you produce it for Sony and even Fuji??)
sent on 27 Maggio 2023 Pros: Lightweight, compact, economical Cons: Delicate finish, uncomfortable hood, often approximate af, mediocre sharpness to the extreme Opinion: When looking for a cheap Sony tele for fullframe there are few alternatives and this 70-300 is one of them. For what is my experience, the af is very approximate and sometimes mistakes many times even static subjects in excellent light conditions, especially if they are at a great distance (trivially, a mountain) let's say about 3 or 4 photos out of 10. Very delicate, you mark only to look at it as well as the hood that you have to make him do three or four turns before finding the joint. The optical quality at short and medium focal lengths is not bad either, but if taken to the extreme (300mm all open) it becomes really kneaded and for dense sensors like Ar7III it is not recommended. He saved me several times but after the last trip I decided to give it away to move on to something more serious. If you don't have too many pretensions, that's fine. Rating: 7
sent on 22 Maggio 2023 Pros: Sharpness, versatility, lightness. Cons: The button to lock the zoom to 70mm is missing, not stabilized. Opinion: It is a lightweight lens, essential if you want to carry around little weight (with the A7C 1 kg total). Excellent for the landscape, pleasant blurred. If you walk with the camera around your neck the zoom extends by force of gravity, the lock button would have been comfortable. However, for that weight I can not complain about anything.
sent on 22 Gennaio 2023 Pros: Sharpness and compactness Cons: obviously it's a bit dark Opinion: My favorite super zoom lens, tropicalized and not excessively heavy or bulky (15cm) the plasticous feeling is not a problem for me, the lens is precise and fast even on old machines like mine, a7ii .... obviously it needs a camera body with stabilization that comes into play very willingly at very high focal lengths such as the 300 It should be used with a good amount of light, unfortunately as soon as the brightness drops you rediscover all the limits of a lens so dark, but for me remains the only defect other lenses cost crazy figures and for what I do this lens is fine
sent on 21 Novembre 2022 Pros: Lightweight, functional lens performing enough for my needs. Cons: Not very bright. Opinion: I bought it for its lightness, price, and because I do not use it continuously. I have a Nikon z7ii and I mainly take landscape photos and from this point of view I am well covered with a Nikon z 14-30 and a Nikon z 24-120, two excellent very valid and performing lenses. I needed a longer lens in case I needed it. the nikon z 70 200 and 100 400 are unapproachable for me for their price circus 3000 euros and for the weight, therefore, having already had on the D850 and D750 Tamron lenses and having found myself well I opted for this 70 300, which although not stabilized, uses the stabilizer of the sensor of the Z7ii.Da first shots seems very valid for the type of need I have, I recognize and limits and defects, but at the moment I am satisfied with it and it corresponds to what I was looking for.
sent on 29 Agosto 2022 Pros: Focal excursion price Cons: No stabilization Opinion: Good economic lens lightweight, compact and versatile . Great for those who are very attentive to weight, bulk and price. Unusable at full excursion for non-stabilized bodies, already on a7iv for videos or long exposure shots you feel the lack of optical stabilization, for everything else instead it is perfect.
sent on 11 Dicembre 2021 Pros: Light - tropicalized Cons: Stabilization Absent Opinion: The Tamron 70/300 is the perfect lens, in my opinion, for the kind of photos I like to take and felt the need for. I waited a long time before choosing it and I think I made the right choice. I must say that my first choice was the Sigma 100/400 but then the price, size and weight made me start looking at the Tamron with more insistence. As soon as I tried the Tamron, I immediately realized that I had made the right choice, because it has the qualities I wanted, that is, lightness and compactness that allow you to walk comfortably, and have photos of excellent quality in my opinion. The only thing that worried me was the lack of the stabilizer, but, mounting the lens on my Sony a7II stabilized even at 300 mm you can photograph quietly. In conclusion, therefore, the Tamron is an excellent lens with a truly excellent price quality suitable for all those who seek in particular lightness and compactness at a truly competitive price.
sent on 09 Luglio 2021 Pros: very compact. Very good yield. Cons: Upgrading FW only through the purchase of a dock (if I understand correctly) Opinion: I waited for it to drop in price and took it to just over 400€ with European guarantee. Lightweight lens (plastic but good quality), brightness not sensational, but with ultraluminous lenses you can navigate on very different sizes (and very different prices). Not generally doing avifauna, but details of landscapes and architectures, the large apertures of diaphragm are not important to me, so I'm fine. At 300 mm it stretches a lot, practically doubles the length, but does not give the impression of "disassembling". It has no buttons and controls, so the focus settings must be done from the machine menu. I remember that the lens is not equipped with stabilizer, but uses (if it exists) that of the machine, but to demand a stabilized optics at this price would seem to me really too much. The focus is quick, quiet and precise, without hesitation. I have not yet done the usual tests at all the diaphragms, but I only tried it in the field: it seemed sharp in all situations, with a nice saturation of colors. Tested on Sony A7II. The only negative note is the firmware update, which I understand is only possible by purchasing a dock station. I already have that Samyang, I wouldn't want to make the collection. But is it possible that you can not provide a usb port on the lens, or the possibility of updating from the machine, as it happens with native optics?
sent on 20 Aprile 2021 Pros: Compactness and lightness. Value for money Cons: Low brightness. No stabilization. Opinion: It is a good goal, well designed and realized, despite the use of plastic material. The low brightness and the absence of stabilization are the prices to pay to have a compact and light goal. It already has excellent full-aperture performance, so an f/6.3 at 300 mm allows good shots in most light conditions. I use it with Sony a7r2 and a6000. With the stabilized sensor does not make you feel the lack of stabilization. Good autofocus speed. Slight loss of sharpness at the edges at the extreme focal points. If you want a pushed zoom, light and versatile, it is a good solution.
