Pros: Weight 0.50X

Cons: for what it costs nothing.

Opinion: I would call this Tamron 20mm f2.8 a versatile lens, in fact in addition to being a light, bright and cheap wide angle with that 0.5x reproduction ratio, it allows me to do ambient macros and with a very small minimum focusing distance. The image quality is good but not excellent but with € 200 you can't expect more. Brava Tamron rating 9

Pros: Dimensions, Weight, Sharpness

Cons: Low Light AF, Distortion (pp resolveable)

Opinion: Taken to have a lightweight lens on A7rii. Even at full aperture offers a good sharpness in more c, is the possibility of making macro given the minimum focusing distance. Tried in low light conditions it is sometimes uncertain while for distortion with a few clicks it resolves in pp. In conclusion, if you are looking for a really light optics at a low price with more than satisfactory performance this is unrivaled.

Pros: Price, optical quality, colors

Cons: Distortion? AF not very fast.

Opinion: This Tamron series (I also tried the 35mm) offers a lot at a very low price. The image quality is excellent, for sharpness, colors, backlight tightness. In this 20mm, however, there is a moderate drop in sharpness at the edges, noticeable on 42 mpx. Forgivable anyway for a wide angle. The distortion is high, but it corrects well with the profile incorporated in the lens. My specimen has well-aligned lenses, there are no shifts or tilts. It is a lens that I would recommend unreservedly. I hope Tamron continues with this series with a unique q/p ratio, it would be interesting a 15mm and in the canvases a 135mm.

Pros: Compactness and sharpness and tropicalization

Cons: Distortion quite accentuated, but solvable in post or in the room

Opinion: I bought this Tamron 20mm f/2.8 to replace the Sigma 20mm Art, the latter a lens with exceptional sharpness and free of any defects. Being a passionate travel photographer, the Sigma despite its merits, its weight makes it unsuitable for those like me who are used to carrying the camera over the shoulder for many hours, "it breaks your neck of how heavy it is!" So I decided to reluctantly sell the sigma to buy the Tamron 20mm. The first thing that catches the eye is certainly the design with attention to every detail, although the construction is made of typical Tamron plastic, you can understand it by holding it in your hand. Another interesting aspect is the rubber gasket that makes it tropicalized, ideal for photographing in all weather conditions. A further pleasant surprise was the weight, a feather when compared with the Sigma. Mounted on my Sony a7iii, it seems not to even notice that I have it on my back. After taking some test shots, I noticed with great relief an excellent focus, despite being a bit noisy, but almost always ready and fluid, I would say like my 50mm Sony. Even its sharpness at full aperture of the aperture proves to be quite detailed on almost the entire frame, while to get the maximum detail you have to go down from f / 4 to about f / 11. On the other hand, the distortion is quite evident, if you compare it with the Sigma 20mm Art, but nothing that can not be corrected either in the camera if you shoot in JPG, or in a completely automatic way with Lightroom. What can I say, considering the price I would say that it has no competitors able to match it at the same price, I have had the Sigma Art for about 6 months and I can assure you that this lens is really impressive.

Pros: Build quality, sharpness, weight and portability

Cons: Exaggerated distortion

Opinion: I used this beautiful 20mm of Tamron in interior photography but the distortion of this lens is really impossible. As everyone has pointed out, this defect is compensated directly in the machine or through a software profile but to have all the images crop, in environments where you fight with mm to compose the frame, is not possible. If you make landscapes and streets you will not even notice the defect but for narrow spaces you will see its limits.

Pros: Compact, crisp, focus distance, excellent and well-kept construction quality even if made of plastic

Cons: a little noisy the focus

Opinion: I bought this lens a few weeks ago but I tried it and I can say I tested it enough. the optics are very well taken care of in the construction, although in plastic do not expect the (bad) quality of the Samyang 35mm 2.8 to give an example, in comparison the Samyang looks like a toy, very robust metal attachment and finished to perfection. Excellent sharpness already in T.A., focus occasionally a little uncertain and noisy, the minimum focus distance so low makes it an optics to discover, I used it a lot for creative photos, lens distortion is important but it is removable in post with a click For the price at which it is located I can only recommend it , an optics to have.

Pros: Lightweight, compact, crisp

Cons: Plastic, exaggerated distortion

Opinion: Lens with excellent value for money. Crisp enough, great for the views, of course, but I find it also fun for particular MACRO applications, given the wide shooting angle. I used it as a unique lens on several excursions... very pleasant to use, and excellent yield. The distortion is certainly exaggerated, but it easily settles in pp. I would like to recommend it, really a valid lens... the warranty is also excellent.

Pros: Light, macro, sharp, focus not so bad as you read in some reviews, updates without TAP, tropicalized

Cons: Improved focus, distortion

Opinion: Arrived at me today I did some tests and it seems to me that I have to confirm already what said in other reviews, very light on the A7iii it seems to have in my hand a compact, excellent lens the graft is not as hard as you read in other reviews, as well as for the focus I do not find it so bad for the optics it is, and for what it has to do , firmware updates can be made via USB with the optics attached to the camera as it is for Sony targets, in fact I have already made the update to version 0.2 I will update the review when I try the optics thoroughly

Pros: Cost, size, macro, diameter 67 like all Tamron lenses for Sony system, fast and precise focus.

Cons: Distortion, firmware update with station to buy aside.

Opinion: Despite the crazy distortion that corrects itself very well in the post, I would say that it is a great lens at a low price. Compared to the Samyang 18mm (which I still enjoyed for its compactness and image quality) this lens has the great advantage of being almost a macro with a focus so close that it sometimes bumps into the subject. As a surrender, superior to the Samyang without a shadow of a doubt. A particular lens that I would recommend to those who love the landscape and the macro "wide angles".

Pros: Portability, lightness. Sharp and performing. great on both standards, FF and APSC

Cons: Light a little too big so much plastic, but great.

Opinion: Arrived a week ago. Describing the lens in a home-being is difficult, due to "geographical" limits on use. incredibly clear and high-performance wide-angle, with perfect cormatic rendering. Even the possibility of getting very close to the subject, until you reach a "macro" report demonstrates the attention paid in the design. I hope to have outside opportunities soon.

Pros: Sharpness, lightness

Cons: Distortion, AF, graft, f2.8 only

Opinion: I've had this lens for a few days. I had long been looking for a fixed wide angle of good quality that did not cost a disproportionate. In the end I opted for this 20mm preferring it to the 20mm sigma (more expensive and heavy) and the 18mm samyang. The first impressions in hot are good. Good sharpness already at full opening, suffers a lot of distortion that can be corrected when shooting in the car or during post. The thing that left me a little more puzzled is the AF, which for the time being has proved to be quite a dancer; on the construction side the graft is not quite as fluid as other lenses I own. In short it is a good light and sharp lens for the price it costs. I recommend it to those like me who are looking for a fixed wide angle that can be used in certain circumstances. A pure landscaper, in my opinion, must focus on other prices and other services.
