sent on 06 Marzo 2026 Pros: Versatility, sharpness, bulk and weight, easy handling Cons: I would only have preferred the ON/OFF button of the stabilizer. At 300 it drops a bit. Opinion: In my opinion it is an excellent "stress reliever". You go around with a single lens, or at most with a wide angle lens in addition, you look around, you see something that can have a certain meaning if framed with a long focal length, and zac.. you catch it immediately, remaining light and ready for any eventuality! The quality of the photos is good, I would say excellent (used with Nikon Z50). I was torn between this for the Z50 and the 28-400 for the Z5_2. I preferred to keep it light, and I will be patient waiting for the long-awaited new aps-c Z90. Car aside, I think I made a good choice.
sent on 17 Ottobre 2025 Pros: very sharp,,quiet... Extension lock button Cons: the zoom if it was a little smoother was better. Opinion: I own a Fuji XS10 I heard good things about it and since I am like St. Thomas I took this all-rounder and it does it in a dignified way,,,Of course it is not the maximum brightness but if you buy it and seeing the characteristics you are aware x which it is useless to write little luminoso.in the kit I have an 18/55 f2.8 that I use when necessary. x my very modest opinion is a good all-rounder x the various outputs allows you to cover various focal lengths, (you will rightly say but if you have a camera body that you can change the lenses why do you make one that is the all-rounder? simple sometimes you want to start light put this and go: perhaps the only drawback I find is the fluidity of the zoom but I think it is normal being a tropicalized lens the gaskets nn allow that fluidity (if I'm wrong correct me) cmq I find it positive and nn c is imbalance with my camera body and lens.x me a vote 9 hello best regards and good light to all
sent on 09 Ottobre 2025 Pros: Sharp, practical, quiet, well built, equipped with USB-C port for firmware update, equipped with extension lock button Cons: Missing (x Nikon Z) controls on the barrel and window with distance scale, the usb-c socket is not protected with a cap. Opinion: Excellent all-rounder, it is almost as sharp as the two Nikons I own but its practicality makes me prefer it, you go from quasi-macro to telephoto without having to change lenses and this sometimes becomes indispensable. In the kit I chose there was also the Tamron UV Filter that I found *exceptionally good* (I had three other UV filters switching from one to the other chasing quality and sharpness and then abandoning them in the box for disappointment, this is fantastic to say the least, in the tests I did it is practically almost imperceptible, if it has a flaw it is that it screws on the lens so well that then it is difficult to remove it). Compared to the 16-300 with F mount it has a different behavior: the 16-300 Macro allowed you to get closer to the subject with any focal length, this is not the case, as you increase the focal length you have to stay further away (it can be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on the case) and the maximum magnification is obtained at wide-angle focal lengths instead of telephoto ones. It is heavier than the Nikon 50-250 (size/lens), has a usb-c socket for firmware update but is uncovered, it does not have a locking cap. It is very well done, it conveys a great idea of solidity. The AF is quick and accurate: faster than the 50-250 and on par in accuracy. Without a UV filter tested in extreme light conditions it did not show unwanted reflections, with the filter obviously if you point it against the sun you can sometimes see a small green circular reflection, which is completely normal indeed .. there are lens-filter couplings that do much worse. Mounted on the Zfc equipped with a SmallRig grip, it brings the total weight to 1,200 gr Perfect colors, as in the best Nikons, there is no difference. Price: I find that the price range for this lens is decidedly anomalous, ranging from about 500 euros for the Sony mount to 850 for the Nikon mount, and always remaining in the Nikon depending on the store it goes from 850 to 600, a really incomprehensible price range. Official 5 or 10 year warranty depending on the Kit and the Store. If I have to give a Grade for me it is a sure 10.
sent on 12 Settembre 2025 Pros: Focal range, sharpness, speed and silence AF, price Cons: Zoom could be smoother, slightly bulky and heavy Opinion: Taken for a Fuji XT5 it is the classic all-rounder, and in general it does it quite well. More than satisfactory sharpness even at the extremes, lightning-fast AF. Comparing it to a Sigma 18-300 that I have for another camera body it is heavier and bulkier, but this must also be put in relation to the compactness and lightness of the current camera body; Other than that it's definitely better at everything. Although I have not tried all super-zooms, I would recommend this lens.
sent on 22 Dicembre 2024 Pros: Sharpness, versatility, stabilization, fast autofocus and bulk. Cons: not smooth zooming. Opinion: Mounted on Sony a6600 E-mount, I wanted an "all-rounder" lens but that would not disappoint for autofocus, stabilization and close-up since I also use it at flower fairs and exhibitions where a bit of close-up shooting often happens. Sufficiently light and, if you get the hang of the not very smooth zoom, you quickly reach the desired frame (a quarter turn from 18 to 300).obviously it is a bit dark since it starts from f 3.5 but like many other super-zooms, nothing less. However, in fact, a stop compared to lenses that are still within affordable prices (paid new 460 euros). Today it costs much more but it all happened in the space of a few months. The photos taken of the butterflies and the moon make what I'm saying well, I don't know if other brands are better but I can say that I have bought many Tamrons, already with film cameras and they have never disappointed me too much In particular the 100-400 on Nikon, the 70-300 and on Sony 6600 (replaced only because I had not yet framed the focal length I preferred).
sent on 07 Marzo 2024 Pros: color rendition in my opinion adorable; reasonable compactness, considering the focal range; sharpness not from fixed lens, but still satisfactory; stabilization; useful in everything: from landscape, to birdlife, through portraiture and - in the video field - it also allows you to make vlogs thanks to 18mm; Lock button to prevent zoom movements. Cons: high price even on second-hand cars; Dark lens already at 18mm and the situation gets worse going up in focal length. Opinion: Nothing, I fell in love with Tamron lenses. It was a sudden love, I had never had one and I bought two, practically at the same time: = the 18-300, the subject of this opinion, which I bought used from RCE foto Torino (a shop that will see me very often, for the quality of the products and the advice offered) giving in exchange two lenses that had now made their good part of the journey in my company; = and the 17-70, which I found on offer on Ollo Store (impeccable service) to also have a versatile lens but a little brighter, but eventually I will talk about it separately because I have not yet tested it properly. On the 18-300 I had read right and wrong at the same time. Almost all the evil referred to the Fuji world, to tell the truth, while on Sony I seemed to have understood that the lens behaved decently well. I was also torn because I was also aiming for the Tamron 70-300, a full frame lens that costs much less than the 18-300 and is not stabilized and I had courted a lot of the Sony 70-350, stabilized and certainly offering the best quality among the three lenses. I could have combined Tamron 17-70 and Sony 70-350, maybe it would have been the best combination (and I still dream about the Sony at night, but sooner or later I'll get one). The fact is that I was intrigued by this "monster" capable of starting from 18mm and even reaching up to 300mm. Guys, what can I say, except that it brought back the joy of experimenting with photographs (after a long time dedicated only to video). I can capture shots that would otherwise be impossible, it's really a wonderful tool. Sharpness, then, a separate chapter: I consider it generally good, more or less at all focal lengths. Maybe it loses something from 200mm upwards, but I don't have enough skills to confirm it. For what little I have been able to test, on short focal lengths it loses hands down against its "brother" 17-70, both for sharpness and bokeh, but on the other hand it allows you to photograph what the pigeon is chewing on the light pole a hundred meters away, which for me at the moment is appreciable. However, it represents a leap forward, in any case, compared to the 70-300 also from Tamron, of similar build quality, which, however, has a shorter focal range, is not stabilized and does not have the switch to block the lengthening of the lens at inopportune moments. Clearly, the 70-350 goes even further and certainly gets there better, but it also costs more on the price when new. I use it on a ZV E10 for the moment, but on the A6700 it performs even better (I had it on test for a few days). I would recommend it.
sent on 13 Settembre 2022 Pros: It does not give concerns about the type of lens to be taken away. More than good sharpness with subjects not far away (less than 50 meters) and focal length not close to 300mm. Cons: It is not a lens from hours close to sunset, unless you point towards the setting sun... Passable sharpness for subjects within 50-80 meters and as long as you do not stretch up to 250-300 mm. Beyond these parameters the lens behaves like any superzoom. Opinion: Mounted on an X-S10 that I use as a second body, it is a "carefree" lens. All in all a decent superzoom that allows you to photograph in a wide range of situations, as long as they are bright enough and that the subjects are not too far away. It is not a lens for professional shots, but a lens for good daytime amateur shots. On the X-S10 it does not unbalance too much and it seems that the lens and sensor "love each other".
sent on 08 Febbraio 2022 Pros: Great versatility of the focal length 18-300 mm FF (27-450 mm APCS), fast silent and precise autofocus, sharp and well-controlled images over the entire focal range, practicality of use, excellent weight / size ratio image quality. Cons: Lack of ON/OFF selectors for focusing/stabilizer, zoom ring not very smooth, bokeh sometimes a bit irregular. Opinion: Good morning everyone, I state that I have had / tried lenses qualitatively better and worse than this, but I believe that it is correct to give the right merits and demerits according to the field of application. Let's start from the range of the focal excursion 18-300 mm FF (27-450 mm APCS) composition of the frame I would say priceless and fun guaranteed. Fast, fast, silent and precise autofocus, nothing to complain about. Image quality in general excellent, very sharp and constant at all focal lengths. Distortion and vignetting present but not invasive and in any case absolutely well controlled and manageable with a good software in post-production. Bokeh not the best, or in some situations it makes, in others not, you have to "know" it for a moment but we are not at the levels of a Sony 70-350 to make a comparison. In conclusion, being a versatile "nature" lens, compared to other predecessors the quality is much higher and I believe that today it is the best choice available on the market for this type of product. If we have to consider the performance / price ratio to use it on different occasions, whole days or simple practicality "free" from the clutter of other lenses, this is the right solution to bring home excellent images. Conversely, if our orientation, budget or work leads us towards more specific situations dictated by other needs, then the choice will fall for obvious reasons on other sectors of employment. I will update the review with sample photos as soon as possible.
