sent on 18 Agosto 2025 Pros: Image quality, focus distance, aperture, stabilized. Cons: Bad MF ring, absolutely bulky Opinion: Finally a worthy all-rounder. Image quality that does not disappoint. Constant openness. Simply attached to the machine (fuji) and never detached again. Plasticky, rings like this, that of the MF looks like a broken toy, no buttons to disable the stabilizer or AF / MF, but the approach of this lens is anything but analog and you know. It arrived just when I decided to use (almost) only zoom and I will place it next to the 18-55 despite the overlapping of focal lengths. At 70mm F8 and medium distances it is absolutely identical and indistinguishable from the Fuji 55-230mm. At equivalent focal lengths it is higher than the 18-135 Fuji. Remarkable star effect on street lamps, it disturbs me a lot, but I don't know if it's a characteristic of the lens or the shooting conditions. I will make some comparisons. Update to 15/11/25: on the XT-100 it gives me problems focusing at a distance or infinity in not difficult conditions, sometimes it makes mistakes and blurs practically everything. I had put it up for sale for the size, but I changed my mind and it's attached to the machine again. Satisfying.
sent on 13 Agosto 2025 Pros: versatility from 18mm to 70mm at f2.8.Image quality and detail. Cons: Maybe just the weight and bulk Opinion: I have owned it for more than a year now as a replacement for the Sony E 18 135 equally good but which unfortunately not being constant f 2.8 had limits with low light. The quality of the color detail does not make me regret the Sony lens at all... indeed I find it decidedly superior! I am a landscape painter and consequently the focal range is perfectly suited to my purpose. It does not suffer from flare ... the only cons as mentioned before that compared to the lens owned this is definitely heavier but you can't have everything... obviously
sent on 21 Maggio 2025 Pros: Versatility, focal range, good quality, powerful AF Cons: VC stabilizer that works well but to date conflicts on Fujifilm with cameras that have internal stabilization Opinion: I bought this lens as an all-rounder in case one of my lenses should break or go to service, at 17mm and at 70mm at f/2.8 I don't say it's unusable but the photos are decent, at f/4 it improves the whole situation a bit on any focal length. I wrote to Tamron to report a problem with the VC, in practice on Fujifilm cameras equipped with internal stabilization the VC of the lens conflicts, in practice the photos are blurred paradoxically, disabling the stabilization of the camera (that of the lens you can't) the situation improves and the VC of the lens behaves very well I would say. I hope Tamron resolves by signing this conflict.
sent on 22 Gennaio 2025 Pros: Focal range, brightness, minimum MF distance, stabilization. Cons: Not very compact, vacuum cleaner. Opinion: Certainly the most versatile lens I own at the limit of macro. Very good image rendering except for some compromises. Stabilization, etc. certainly a lens to buy. But be prepared to have dust behind the front lenses. Actually, I didn't know if it was a problem of my specimen but I read online that it is not an unknown problem. So consider that. Of course, if you keep it in a dry environment there are not so many contraindications but with a view to resaleability meh...
sent on 28 Novembre 2024 Pros: focal range, very bright, tropicalization, good colors, ... Cons: at extreme focal lengths it is not accurate, distortion and vignetting at 17mm and softness and sharpness at 70mm Opinion: A lens that I am very happy about, it is an all-rounder that fills my focal length needs, even with very good results. It is bright enough to be able to shoot even in less than perfect conditions, it has tropicalization, an excellent color rendering. for the most punctilious it is better not to shoot at the minimum focal length and at the maximum, but nothing shocking. Used for over a year with satisfactory results, I am really happy about it. A very useful and high-level all-rounder. Highly recommended.
sent on 21 Ottobre 2023 Pros: Excellent rings, it holds excellent performance at all focal lengths always good optics, excellent internal stabilizer, extended focal length and maintains f2.8 brightness at all focal lengths, very satisfactory AF very fast and very accurate with my X-H2. Cons: Physiological for a universal zoom chromatic aberrations and distortions, perhaps a long can bulky but given focal lengths and brightness then I think excellent. Stabilizer on sensors with the IBIS ?. Opinion: Arrived last night on Tamron 17-70. Done a can of various tests focal lengths and apertures, what can I say it is a bright f2.8 universal zoom in addition to the internal optical stabilizer I do not see how I can compare it with other optics for reason not the same focal length or brightness so for me only universal lens with extended focal length and f2.8 brightness currently for Fujifilm APS-c. I know that with a universal lens you have to make some compromises, in fact I find distortions and some chromatic aberration, nothing dramatic but present and physiological for a universal zoom. The corner performance, I must say, does not disappoint, good at full aperture, becomes excellent at closed apertures and this applies to all focal lengths. I find the mechanics excellent but the lens hood seems very small to me, really zero bulky, but maybe it was better a larger can for the better seal, side light. I haven't tried star effect, time doesn't allow me to do so, but I guess it's good at 9 blades. All in all, I think I need a successful lens when I go to the mountains and I want to bring only two/three lenses, maybe the 11-20+17-70 Tamron is a perfect pair. Or the X-H2 40 MP updated with the latest firmware, the AF works perfectly, tried even with the 11mm macro ring, but it's fine, really surprising, the AF is very fast and accurate. Lens recommended for landscape photography without high bokeh requirements. Note: new addition or checked several times the behavior of the stabilizer on my X-H2 I can't convince myself so for handheld photography only I always turn off the stabilizer on this zoom I sometimes find micro blur and abnormal behavior, using electric shutter only + the shutter only stabilizer behaves great. Or bought for reason was on occasion with price 630 euros for me very valid given the price.
sent on 29 Dicembre 2022 Pros: Focal length equivalent to a 25-105 - Constant aperture 2.8 - Weight and dimensions - Tropicalized - Stabilized - Silent - AF speed - Blurred quality - Sharpness - Minimum focusing distance (almost a macro) - colors Cons: Does not keep the focus during zooming - does not have the diaphragm ring - vignetting at maximum aperture (correctable in post) - Softness at 70mm and maximum aperture - flare if put under pressure - price Opinion: Purchased to use it especially in the video field I think it can be, net of the defects highlighted, the definitive lens for general use. For those who make videos it means editing it and bringing home a lot of quality with a single solution. To those who take pictures, however, I recommend the side by side with fixed because for me the 2.8 on apsc in some cases limit a little creativity. However, very usable also as a portrait lens because it has a very nice blur. Excellent approach capacity. Here my complete video review, in description you will also find the samples. https://youtu.be/uT9x8Rzor8U
sent on 19 Agosto 2022 Pros: Sharpness, focal range, stabilization Cons: It has no extension block, certainly not reduced footprint but not exaggerated Opinion: I was looking for a replacement for the 16-50 kit which obviously has many limitations. I discarded other lenses such as 16-70 F4 and the 18-105 F4 Sony because I found a lot of criticism both here and on other forums. Sony's 16-55 F2.8 is priced higher and lacks stabilization and a smaller focal length range. The sigma has the great advantage of compactness and price but even that I have not heard great praise. I must say that the Tamron has pleasantly surprised me in the yield and although it is not compact it offers a nice support partly compensating for the somewhat poor grip of my A6000. The photos seem very sharp to me. AF very fast, quiet and without breathing problems. Stabilization allows you to shoot freehand with times well below 1/100 if conditions allow. It has a diameter that it rests on an edge protruding below the camera. Problem solved with a specific slide that has in turn improved the grip, which I highly recommend. Another thing I miss is the zoom extension lock. I have never had problems, but I consider it a very ineffective thing on the price and final and of great comfort. It would have been perfect if it also had switches for AF/MF and to turn off stabilization, but you can't have it all.
sent on 18 Agosto 2022 Pros: Sharpness, contrast, AF, colors, VC, focal ranges, etc... Cons: Makes the camera pop-up flash unusable (creates shadows); marked distortion at the wide focal length. Opinion: What can I say: it's an almost perfect goal. For me it is a perfect match for the sony APSC, especially for models without stabilization (almost all). It is a remarkable lens for the sharpness (at all focal lengths, to the detriment of the reviews I found on youtube), for the colors it returns and contrast. The stabilization is very effective and allows you to shoot well below the safety times by adopting the classic precautions. Valid AF is accurate. There is the "small" problem of interference with the flash that I wrote about in the cons and distortion at the slightest focal length. I would recommend the purchase to the undecided. I preferred it to the SIGMA 18-50 for the greater focal range and for stabilization. I think I made the right choice.
sent on 20 Maggio 2021 Pros: Sharpness, colors, stabilization, flare resistance, versatility, minimum focus distance. Cons: 17mm distortion and not excellent sharpness at 70mm, heavier than the body of the a6400 but getting used to it. Opinion: After a year of fixed focal points (Samyang 12 and Sigma 30 1.4) I wanted a more versatile lens that maintained an acceptable/high quality. I got to try it only indoor and currently I fell in love with it, versatile, the colors are warm and pleasant, you can take decent macro shots, and the convenience of having a lens all done without having to change it continuously is priceless, and it is cheaper than rival Sony 16-55. Stabilization another qualitative leap, for photos with little light. I took freehand at 70 mm with times of 1/20 getting quite sharp shots, huge advantage.

sent on 09 Maggio 2021 Pros: Focal Length, Price/Performance Ratio, 5-Year Warranty, Stabilization, Opening f/2.8 at All Focal Points Cons: If I really have to look for the hair in the egg, using darktable there is still no Lens Profile for distortion correction Opinion: Since I am a beginner, having an uns stabilized machine I really appreciate this feature. As for sharpness it does not envy anything to the Sigma 16mm 1.4, at f/5.6 it is sharp practically anywhere in the shot. For my needs having a lens that I practically never have to disassemble for its versatility is priceless. From the first shots I felt the significant improvement in image quality and that's what I was looking for. It also defends for a few amateur macro shots, then promoted to 360 degrees. Distortion is high especially at minimal and maximum focal points, and being a recently released lens on the market is only supported by Adobe at the moment. But lensfun will also soon add this lens to its database and we can use the correction profile on open source software that is based on this project
