Pros: Excellent lens in all respects, if you want higher performance (but slightly) the brother with F/2.8 is recommended. I use it with Sony A1, sometimes, on certain occasions, the focus is not very fast continuously.

Cons: High price. Bracket not compatible with Arca. No case. Lens hood.

Opinion: I don't understand, everyone speaks well of this lens and in fact, when used, it does its duty, then go to the Amazon Italy page and find this ALERT: "Item returned frequently. Check the product details and customer reviews to get more information about this item." dunno... I'm trying to understand the reasons that are obscure to me.

Pros: Versatility, sharpness, macro functionality, portability

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: A fantastic lens, the latest addition to the optical kit. I tested it thoroughly and was really satisfied with it. Crazy sharpness on the whole image already from F4, the very precise autofocus locks on to the subject quickly, clearly it also depends on the camera and with the a6700 it worked perfectly. The low weight makes it comfortable, I used it practically for almost two whole days and I had no problems The macro functionality, although not 1:1, is the thing I particularly appreciated. Summing up it is a flexible and fun tele that is worth every single penny of its price, I recommend it.

Pros: Versatile, well built, compatible with teleconverters, minimum focusing distance, low weight, compact, very responsive and precise AF, remarkable macro despite not having a 1:1 ratio, surprising sharpness already at TA from edge to edge.

Cons: Cost, Lens hood a bit chip "the one of the first version is made better" but anyway it remains firmly in place, bracket for tripod too short.

Opinion: This zoom, in my opinion, has nothing to fear compared to fixed lenses so sharp it is. Already at full aperture and throughout the focal range it is sharp as hell, but the thing that leaves you pleasantly surprised is that the sharpness of the edges is almost the same as that of the image center, both at 70 and 200mm. That said, just to understand immediately, the bokeh is just as good, of course the distance of the subject matters a lot but I must say, as I see it, it is never nervous on the contrary, it is always fine and creamy. As for the macro aspect of this telephoto lens, a dutiful note: the first zoom lens in the world in this category equipped with medium macro functionality over the entire zoom range, and bearing in mind that it does not have a 1:1 ratio like dedicated macro lenses, it allows me to get closer to the subject at a distance of 0.26m at 70mm and at 0.42m at the telephoto focal length of 200mm, which makes a close-up of an insect, flower or anything else really rich in surprising details. The AF is crazy, of course, even the camera body plays its part, I currently use a Sony A7rV, but I can safely say that it is very responsive and extremely precise, for sure it will not disappoint even the most demanding "like me". The only two criticisms, beyond the high price, currently exceeds € 1,800/1,900.00, you could have made an extra effort for the lens hood and make it a little better, it does not have a release button and returns that vision and feeling a little "chip", honestly it clashes a bit with everything else ...., then, even if this last aspect bothers me less than the lens hood, the bracket for attaching the stand is too short, it seems to me a small stump put there just to...! Okay! Let's say that overall and all in all, you can also overlook these small tricks, even if in my opinion they should be said. Ultimately; I am super satisfied with the performance of this fantastic telephoto lens with macro function, and without any reservations or indecision, I highly recommend it!

Pros: Sharpness, focus speed in Macro

Cons: 1:1 macro only with 2x extender

Opinion: As an amateur I can say that it does its job very well, not having tried other Macros I can't express a "total" judgment, but what I see when I shoot is objectively perfect. Unfortunately, with the extender, you start from F8, which is not the best, especially if used in woods or places that are not completely lit, it can be compensated with a tripod, but insects or birds often do not allow it to be used.

Pros: Sharpness, fast focusing, portability

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Comfortable, lightweight, space-saving lens. Fun for macro though not 1:1. Very fast and sharp. I'm really enjoying it because I go out with a single lens and I photograph my kids or whatever, without having to change lenses. Chosen instead of the 2.8, superlative but much more expensive and a bit bulkier. Very nice bokeh; Especially at 200mm it detaches very well. Materials as always excellent, and paid an amount in my opinion appropriate (1750). It has the anti-stretch lock button and the 3 usual buttons on the barrel for focusing. Having had the 100-400 and the 70-200 2.8 first series in the past, I don't see any difference between these two GMs and the new signing that is G.

Pros: Lightness, focus, macro function

Cons: Not very "elegant" bokeh

Opinion: I have owned this lens since July 2023 and find it very interesting. Low weight, well balanced, a "blade" in focusing, Useful and well exploitable macro function. In the absence of a fixed lens, it is also well usable for portraits in the intermediate focal lengths, being able to count on a constant aperture at f4. Great for shoots during events and for sports photos where you can still get a little closer to the subject. "Pasty" background blur but not particularly organized with circular elements, due to the aperture at f4 anyway. Sustainable cost and certainly adequate to the value of the lens.
