Pros: weight (when compared to the canon), af at the top, balanced, non-clinical like the other Gmasters

Cons: in such a lens anyone would say weight or absence of 24mm but for me they are not against it and therefore I would say nothing.

Opinion: tried before the imminent purchase at a fair just to confirm what I already thought. I come from a Sigma 28-45mm f1.8 (which is a stratospheric lens) but when this came out I decided to sell everything and buy it. I do a lot of weddings and adv photography so he will be my perfect partner. I tried the canon several times so I already knew that I would be there, beyond this the lens proved to be really exceptional, it does not have that clinicality of the classic GM and it is good in my opinion, it has a character of its own, a soft, pleasant blur that makes every image really pleasant. It is very light (+ of the 28-45mm sigma) and above all it is more balanced, it almost seems that it weighs much much less when in reality it is just about 20gr. AF scary needless to say and extends little nothing. Sony has really made a definitive lens with a very precise soul!

Pros: Extraordinary optical qualities, focal length versatility, lightning-fast autofocus in typical Sony style. Very nice image rendering, less surgical than other lenses

Cons: Being a true all-rounder, perhaps the weight, which however is nothing special.

Opinion: Arrived a week ago, I only did a couple of shooting sessions, with a very good impression. My current lens portfolio is, as far as Sony is concerned, the 14 1.8, the 35 1.4, the 50 1.2. Then I have a tamron 35-150 2-2.8 and the sigma 60-600. So my judgment immediately goes to compare it to the two g masters I own. The performance of this new 28-70 is amazing, honestly I didn't notice significant differences with the fixed 50 (but I repeat I used it only two days). The impression is of an extremely versatile lens, suitable for all genres, including street (even if the size does not make it exactly invisible....). But the weight is nothing extraordinary, it carries around very well without any effort, and I think I can do a full day of shooting without any problems. Combined with the a7r5 it churns out clean files, of a surprising sharpness, three-dimensional, with a great character (on the other hand I find the 50 1.2 very "digital" in this respect, even if obviously it remains an extraordinary lens, which perhaps with low light will be superior to this all-rounder). At longer focal lengths the bokeh is very nice, creamy, with an analog look, which I found only in cameras with foveon sensors. I also tried it for landscapes, and even with only the 28 I was able to take very good shots, keeping an aperture around 8. I am curious to start testing it seriously thanks to the arrival of spring. In a few weeks I will update this review. But at the moment I can only be very satisfied with the purchase. Is it worth the money? In my opinion, yes, it allows you to go out without worries with a single goal, certain of being able to solve every situation. It does the job of three prime lenses, with a lower cost at the end, and with a much smaller footprint in your backpack. If cost is not a big deal, I can only recommend buying it.

Pros: Quality of the final rendering Nice file and finally a lens that can also do well on video

Cons: Maybe the price?? Depends on

Opinion: I almost never review a lens but this 28 70 f2 in my opinion is noteworthy. By now we are only looking for sharpness and autofocus when a photo or video needs many other nuances for a final result. I got this lens immediately as soon as it went on sale and from the first clips I could immediately say wow, something that had never happened to me with the 24 70 gm 2 (before that I had the 24 70 gm first version) The 28 70 f2 will never be a fixed but to date I would never have allowed myself an entire job with a 24 70 f2.8. The 28 70 offers everything you need to be able to replace many fixed units and take home a job with a single goal. Balanced rendering that does not look only at sharpness, very beautiful and gradual Bokeh giving incredible three-dimensionality to the images. From the first clips I said to myself, this lens will have many negative opinions for sure but those looking for lenses with character and that restore high-level images if the price is not a problem is to be had without thinking twice.

Pros: Overall quality and lightning-fast autofocus

Cons: Lower quality than fixed lenses, heavy and unbalanced for Sony cameras, high price.

Opinion: As an owner of fixed lenses, I don't see that magic and quality so much praised by sony. Heavy and unbalanced optics for sony cameras, the lightning-fast autofocus is the only plus point that does not justify the exorbitant price. Combined with the Sony A7r V it did not satisfy me, and after a couple of hours of work it is frustrating to work, so I have already put it on sale.

Pros: Sharpness, blur, character, versatility.

Cons: Weight and dimensions

Opinion: A lens for which I have always envied the Canonists. Apart from the weight and dimensions (which in any case could have been much worse, so bravo Sony once again), the performance and the character worthy of vintage lenses that I had on Leica M repay the economic and transport effort. Having a complete kit with a fixed aperture has been the dream since I started photographing in 1999. Sharpness is excellent anywhere in the frame at any aperture and distance, but despite that, it doesn't feel as cool and clinical as the 24-70 GMII sibling I had previously. The blur is wonderful with its almost vintage rendering and the gradualness worthy of the best 70s-80s fixed lenses has made it my favorite lens among all the ones I own (50 1.2 GM, 85 1.4 GMII, 35 1.4 GM, 24 2.8G). If you can afford it, don't hesitate.

Pros: The real G Master lens from Sony. A Poetic lens. A Storyteller Lens!

Cons: The puritans of perfect resolution will say: This lens is useless!

Opinion: The first word that comes to mind to describe this Sony lens is: POETIC! Yes, that's the right adjective to describe the Sony GM FE 28-70mm F2 lens. I bought it on January 8'25, and the feeling is that of having the sony 24-70 Gm mk1 in my hand, same size but with a poetic rendering at F2: Balanced sharpness but never clinical at TA (it's not like the cold and clinical 24-70 GM mk2 and many Sony fixed lenses), soft blur with a cinematic look and a compact construction that you don't feel the weight (on this Sony was good at making a lens not excessively heavy). Lenses such as the 28-70 F2 are a rarity in photography as many lenses are anonymous in character and perfection. I owned the 24-70mm Gm mk2 (which I reviewed here), it is the living example of how the evolution of the progress/regression of photographic technologies eliminates the element that makes it magical: the character. Finding a properly made lens has become difficult and this lens plus the 85mm and the part of the original triad f2.8 are the top G master sony lenses. To date, the puritans of perfect resolution will say that a 3.5k€ lens with an imperfect and heavy rendering is scafalous! Tastes are tastes (of course), but knowing how to distinguish a clinical lens from a lens of character is not enough to have a good eye! I conclude that Sony has created a glass/ masterpiece, for me the real G Master lens! with a poetic rendering, less clinical and more picturesque. Suitable for storytellers and ceremonialists but which amuses amateurs and artists like me, it is fantastic both in photos and in video (cinematographers will be happy). A vote for this goal? 10 laude! he deserves it all!
