Pros: Size, weight, price, sharpness.

Cons: Anything that wouldn't allow you to get the pros mentioned above.

Opinion: If only it were brighter... if it were made of metal instead of plastic... if it had a longer focal range... It would be 3 times bigger and heavier and cost 5 times as much! When you buy it, you know what you're getting. Unfortunately you still can't have a lens that does everything. At least this one doesn't give up the quality of the image, it doesn't take anything used and it's very portable. Everything in life is a matter of priorities.

Pros: sharp over the entire focal range, compact, very light, fast AF, excellent flare resistance, good star, price (if taken as a kit or used)

Cons: limited focal range, no lens hood, new price (if the purchase is not made in kit)

Opinion: For a kit lens it is good and the purchase is definitely worth it if made at an affordable price (in kit) or second-hand (you can take it home with about 200/250 euros); Buying the lens alone (as a stand-alone optic) at full price, in my opinion, doesn't make sense. I have listed the strengths and weaknesses above; In particular, the real flaw, in my opinion, lies in the limited focal range. It has a more than good sharpness over the entire (albeit limited) focal range and has a really good resistance to flare. The construction is "plasticky", but I don't feel like including this feature among the defects - on the contrary it contributes to the excellent lightness of the lens. Recommended if taken at the right price (200-250 eur). Rated 9.

Pros: Small and very sharp

Cons: A bit dark but if used with modern cameras it doesn't weigh as much

Opinion: Small and compact, the release of the lens is a bit peculiar, in addition to the fact that it is small and pocket-sized I was surprised by the sharpness of the final result, the only compromise is the fact that it is a little dark but so compact it could not be done better, the lens is tropicalized so you do not risk dirtying it a little extra gem that made me re-evaluate it

Pros: Optical quality, price quality, weight

Cons: Vignetting sometimes very heavy, lens release

Opinion: The lens itself is not bad at all, with a Sony Alpha 7S (which therefore has its age) it works great. The lens has good quality, it is very light. At 28mm obviously it is not an extreme wide angle, but I personally like this focal length a lot. The opening is obviously not the best, but those who take this lens look for a low weight and a good overall quality. I use it in the mountains and during my excursions I honestly forget the camera in my backpack thanks to the low weight. However, there are downsides: unlocking the lens and vignetting. I don't like unlocking, it gives me the idea of having a "short life", and the sound it gives me as a return makes me a bit scary but probably they are my fisime. Vignetting, on the other hand, is the worst defect of this lens: with any filter at shorter focal lengths, up to about 35mm, and at medium diaphragms closed, the lens vignettes so much that it is difficult to reduce the defect in post. I haven't tried slim filters yet, although mine is really thin, but I'm afraid that the situation will not change. From 35mm onwards the problem disappears. On the positive side, however, there is one aspect: the lens has a tiny diameter and therefore the filters cost very little. Ultimately, for those looking for a good lens, lightweight and who wants to spend little, this lens is probably the best possible choice in the Sony landscape.

Pros: Compact, sharp, economical

Cons: No hood, it's only a 2x

Opinion: The objective is very compact and I think this is its greatest merit. Combined with the 6400 were a fabulous pairing. Now, sold the 6400 is in combination with the a7iv. I bought it new at 250 € and I think it was a good buy. I also appreciate the sharpness, the coverage of the entire sensor without creating showy vignetting typical of "cheap" lenses and the absence of showy flares. On the other hand I want to point out the fact that it is sold without a hood (I bought a magnetic hood, a "cinesata" the JJC-LH-S2860 from a few euros but functional) and that this lens is only a 2x, therefore competing with brighter fixed, performing but more expensive!

Pros: Small, light, sharp, economical if taken in kit

Cons: Not so small when opened, dark, new price, closing mechanism scares me

Opinion: I took the A7C without this lens because, at the time, I was not very interested in focal lengths from 28 to 60. A year later, partly because I started shooting differently, partly because I read it so well, I decided to take it to try it out. I honestly don't understand how he can get such a high grade. For heaven's sake, it is a very good goal, but the 10 would deserve it if it were f2.8.. It is true, it is sharp at all apertures, but even at the minimum focal length we are talking about an f4 and a 5.6 at 60mm, there are few lenses that do not perform with those openings. There is also a lot of talk about its size: even here, very true, it is really small, but only when it is closed and therefore not usable. The locking system then, to my hands, seems delicate (but it is only my impression). Ultimately it is an excellent lens if taken in kit and paid € 150 new, to keep there without annoyance and / or use, as opposed to some crap that usually comes in kit that you can not wait to get rid of. Taking it used, as I did, increases the price (also accomplices the pdm who take it to 150 and resell it to 200 and sony that sells it new at senseless prices) and does not have, in my opinion, much sense, at least for the use I make of it.

Pros: Extremely underestimated optics

Cons: No hood

Opinion: Optics that left me stunned. I got it in kit with the sony A7C. A perfect match. Being a "kit" lens, everyone assumes that it is a bottle bottom or that you have to resell it immediately as usual. What nonsense. The files it churns out are great. I'm finding this lens superb! I come from a Sony A6600 + 16-55 f2.8 (one of the best for aps-c that stands up to gm optics), well, this kit lens I found it at par if not higher than the 16-55 f2.8! Excellent sharpness, good bokeh, quiet, very light, excellent af. Also let's talk about the weight, it weighs only 167g against the 494g of the 16-55 f2.8, not bad eh? My dealer had warned me saying... that it was a beautiful optics and not to resell it that then I would regret it (as many others have done regretting it). He was right. I recommend this view. As cons I only say that I did not find the hood, it has a focal range a little short and is a dark hair but it is relative.

Pros: Great resolution at all focal lengths, lightness and excellent value for money

Cons: Need some small correction in PP but starting the files are very good. Sure... if it had been F4 at all focal lengths it would have been better

Opinion: I have been using it for a few months and I take it with me for motorcycle rides and when I don't want to carry a lot of weight. We must overcome the perplexity that it is a kit optics (therefore a bottle bottom) and rely on even complex shots ... try it to believe it... especially at the negligible cost of about €. 330.00. To have absolutely also for the good opinions of which the web is full.

Pros: Optical quality, size and weight, bundled price with the A7C, quiet and fast AF. Easy balance on cheap gimbals. Blurry and detachment of the floors at 60mm pleasant.

Cons: Absence of light shield attachment, cost, front lens that needs a filter, because flush with the barrel.

Opinion: The objective in question is really a breath of fresh air: crisp, fast and quiet, compact and light. Perfect for amateur, or travel use. Outdoors or in controlled situations it is possible to use it in the professional field, even on video, because it is extremely easy to balance it on a gimbal. Lately I have been using it instead of my fixed 1.8 and 2, outdoors, because blurry is not always more important than the convenience of a zoom. And regardless the blurry and the detachment of the floors at 60mm is still pleasant, despite being at 5.6

Pros: Little Light

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: Caught kit with A7C in my mind I thought I'd sell it back, I'd make a big mistake. Crisp, AF more than good, flare resistance, good blurry, zoom ring not excellent but more than discreet. Given the brightness to use on sunny days. I take A7C +28-60 in a 3L Peak Design that I almost forget to have with me. Really very happy with the kit.

Pros: Compact, VERY LIGHT and very sharp on all focal points....

Cons: Chromatic aberration.... The "softness" of the zoom ring obviously doesn't have that kind of fluidity of the 16-35 f4 sony for example, but as much as it costs I would say it can stay there.... A constant F4 would have been very welcome..

Opinion: I usually wait quite a while before releasing reviews about products I own, but in this case I can already give my first impressions hot since it came to me a few days and about 150 photos.. The optics are a feather and the glasses are really very sharp and at the same time produce a very creamy blurry, for example at f5.6 it is hard to believe that it is the blurry of a zoommettino and already only this is a really interesting combination ... Its lightness allows very fast shooting times, I fell to 1/3s freehand, and this is a strong point. Mounted on the a7r2 I managed to put it inside a small purse where in the past I put the a6000 with optics kit, this to understand how compact it is. To the touch as well as to the view from a good impression of quality. Definitely recommended for those who love lightness, versatility and quality of detail ..... Further up, if I have anything else to add I will.... I would add, there is an interesting bokeh... I confirm the great sharpness, there is little to do, it is like having many quality fixes from 28 to 60mm ... I had to choose a quality fixed from 30 to 50 but I preferred this one that gives me more versatility with the same sharpness and blurry creamy, compactness and lightness...

Pros: Tiny, very light and of excellent photographic quality

Cons: Seemingly fragile and unsliding opening mechanism (at least in my specimen)

Opinion: I received this little jewel from RCE Vicenza yesterday for 360€. From the few shots I had the opportunity to take in a park in Rome I can only agree with Nino.Ulysses and Paco68. The lens is worth everything that costs (and it is not little for a kit lens,) I can not find important defects from the IQ point of view, while the merits are many, starting with the weight and the very small dimensions, typical of mirrorless philosophy. Perhaps before buying it it will be better to wait a few months. The price is certainly destined to fall because many "purists" will prefer not to take a "plastic" goal. Perhaps they do not know that 30% of the components of the wings and fuselages of the planes with which they fly on holiday are made, precisely, of plastic.

Pros: Resolution at all focal points

Cons: Some doubt about its robustness over time

Opinion: I fully confirm paco68's very accurate thread. This small kit lens offers much more than you would expect. It's incisive at all focal points, vignette a bit of course, and of course it distorts a little at 28mm, but otherwise it's very satisfying, particularly for the overall image quality, flare resistance and perfect resolution in the center. At the edges and corners it is great, far better than the Sony 28 f2, 28-75 kit, and 24-70 f4 Zeiss. Very recommended. I bought it without the Sony A7c body for about 350€ and I am very satisfied with it.
