Pros: Nididetta, Weight, Autofocus

Cons: Slight flare, excessive cost

Opinion: I tried Sigma, but it didn't convince me. Some say that he does not have his own "personality", but he has reactivity and precision. It makes no sense to buy the Sigma, when the difference is a few hundred euros, I returned it after a week, the Sigma. This has an exceptional blur and doesn't miss a beat in autofocus. It is also well built, with a very comfortable aperture ring, and is very light. The only competitor, in my opinion, is the Tambron 28 75 G2. Which costs the right amount and goes wonderfully. Is it worth spending 3 times? To tell the truth, no. The difference in terms of quality is minimal. I would add that, after trying the Samyang 24 70 2.8, I was pleasantly surprised by the autofocus, color rendering, sharpness, construction, despite the conflicting and often disparaging judgments.

Pros: An optic like many add modern reliable in results,. With an autofus hook. Rattling good

Cons: What many promoters do not say that up to 50mm, there is an excessive barrel distortion that is not acceptable for a lens of 2000 euros, I would also point out that it does not have an exceptional progression of planes, with an overall anonymous performance. ?

Opinion: A generalist lens with an unacceptable distortion coefficient, characterless optics with colors and disappointing plane progression. I must add I produce images that are more creative than repertoire, so I was looking for an optics that would satisfy me in this sense. I prefer fixed lenses, but my needs are more practical than creative, but above all for functional practicality I needed to add a generalist lens. Nothing could be more wrong than adding a lens of this type to my kit, I will sell it soon.

Pros: One of the most modern, and boring, handymen that exists!

Cons: A "soulless" lens!

Opinion: In my journey with photography the 24-70mm is the main lens I use to tell stories. I have owned the previous Sony GM mk1 all-rounder for many years and despite the imperfections it remains the best lens for Sony with a unique performance/character. I was hoping to find the same charisma in the new 24-70mm GM mk2, a lens that I have kept for more than two years but that I have used very little. Despite the improvements in size and weight, the lens did not convince me! I found the rendering aggressive at all focal lengths starting from F2.8, I have never seen this "aggressiveness" from 24 to 70mm, as I have never seen such a dry and nervous blur, as I have never seen an ultra-corrected lens free from various defects, including flares. Honestly, I thought I would find some imperfections so as to change the opinion about him, and instead I found a lens "without a soul" (someone in the past had already framed it before it came out). This doesn't just apply to the all-rounder mk2, but ALL GM lenses released from 2021 to date. They are all (or almost) clinical and digitized!. I don't know how they love a lens like this, I really don't find anything nice in this. (well maybe the ignorant understand more!). A piece of advice: evaluate well what you buy because technological progress is killing what photography is: magic! Novelty can also bring disappointments and illusions, gaining in economy but losing in poetic yields, and we are losing this magic because all brands push for extreme perfection; The only thing that heartens me is that true photographers know how to distinguish the performance of a modern lens and aim for imperfect lenses but with character. But PH's boomers don't know that, in addition to clinical performance, it takes a dowry to practice the art of photography! PS: on January 8 '25 I gave it away in place of the new and charismatic 28-70mm F2 GM.

Pros: Sharpness, almost no flare, lightning-fast AF, aperture ring, blurry at 2.8

Cons: Lens hood a bit cumbersome to assemble, it costs a lot

Opinion: Premise: Landscape photos. I took this zoom because before I only used a 14-24 2.8, a 70-200 f4 and a fixed 40mm, so it was an intermediate zoom to be used as an all-rounder, since in certain adventures it became necessary to have only one lens with me. Then I also wanted to take it to have a GM and make the most of the car which is an a7rIV, or at least I thought that way it would make the most of it. For now, I have to say that I'm satisfied (and fortunately, given the cost!). I've used it on some adventures in the mountains, in the snow, at sunset, and during the day! The sharpness is really at high levels, at the edges it doesn't seem to change too much the performance in the maximum and minimum zoom values, which is important as I often use it at 24, and very often at 70, using a little less the intermediate steps. The build quality is great, although being less heavy than the sigma 14-24 I have, it almost feels more plasticky! Surely it's just a feeling given by the weight. In any case, 200 grams less is an advantage in the mountains! Actually, the general impression is this: A PERFECT optics, which consequently, in order to be such, renounces some characteristics that for example are typical of Sigmas to obtain a personality. However, this is not a defect, it is a measuring instrument more than a musical instrument, it captures the light with fidelity and precision, without enriching and coloring, what it does it does perfectly, in the maximum possible yield :)

Pros: Everything absolutely everything!!

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: It came to me yesterday to replace the sigma 24-70 art, a whole other story. Perfect lens throughout, like my A7IV goes very well!! Fully satisfied. Distortion almost absent not to mention sharpness, something truly incredible!! I highly recommend it, it costs a bang, but the money is worth them all. A gift from my wife that I will never stop thanking!!!

Pros: Overall sharpness, build quality, physical functions, bokeh colors, excellent flare resistance

Cons: A bit of edges

Opinion: Perfect optics from all points of view, ideal for professional use with an absolutely scary auto focus.practically I did not find a defect if not the physiological drop at the most extreme edges. Not having it is a real right. Recommended for those looking for quality at all costs because like all GMs it is not given.

Pros: Sharpness, AF speed, few chromatic aberrations, flare resistance, weight

Cons: Vignetting over 50 mm up to 3.2

Opinion: For photographic use it is a zoom not optically "practically perfect" like the Canon RF 24-70 f2.8 however it is a very (but very) valid tool. On the road I appreciated first of all the low weight for the type of lens, during a reportage the versatility combined with the optical qualities. It does not have the stabilizer but the 695 grams declared (205 less than the RF) make it very manageable and easy to grip. And then sharpness, very fast AF coupled with the A7 IV, the few chromatic aberrations and the excellent flare resistance. Interesting option to rub more or less the zoom. On the other hand, the vignetting is quite evident from about 50 mm up to f3.2 (but it is a common feature to this type of zoom) as well as the distortion at the edges at 24mm (as above). In any case, it's a different lens than the GM I that disappointed me. Rating 9,8/10.

Pros: Excellent construction, weight, sharpness, and robustness

Cons: Price (?? perhaps)

Opinion: I confess right away that I come from the sigma 24-70 2.8 ART optics that at the beginning I had preferred for value for money to the GM first version. And the choice at the time turned out to be right. Today with the "GM II" everything has changed. Sony optics have taken a big step forward in many directions: weight, precision, sharpness, build quality. The "GM II" is not a simple update, but a new, beautiful and performing optics. You work very well without any hesitation. Great job done by Sony and extra-recommended optics. After all, such a lens cannot cost less than 2 thousand euros, it would be ridiculous. So the complaint about the price "there is", but still it is money well spent.

Pros: Quality in construction, weight, precision, sharpness, materials, robustness

Cons: Price

Opinion: I've had the lens for less than a week, I tested it in turbulent conditions under a night thunderstorm, it's really great, the sharpness is incredible. Focus is precise and fast. The hood hooks like a glove, the diaphragm ring is very pleasant to use and in any case having the iris lock in a moment you return to the room management. In the coming days I reserve the right to use it also for the street, but I am sure that it will not disappoint me. Also used on close subjects with a minimum focal length it gave me a pleasant blur. Very happy with the purchase, a little less than the price, I think it will be difficult to forget this perspective at home. At the moment I am fully satisfied

Pros: Sharpness, flare resistance, AF speed, compactness and weight, excellent build quality

Cons: At the moment none

Opinion: I received this optics a few days ago and I am currently very satisfied. It takes up many positive points of the excellent 70-200 GM2, above all sharpness from edge to edge and lightning speed of autofocus. I have not yet had the opportunity to do all the necessary tests but I can say that it is certainly a top lens for the Sony kit. I didn't own the 24-70 GM version 1 so I'm not able to make direct comparisons between the two lenses. I add Excellent resistance to flare, blurry creamy. The construction quality is excellent, even improved compared to GM a few years ago: the hood engages perfectly with a decisive click without the slightest play, the rings rotate in a biting and consistent way. Many function buttons on the lens beyond the aperture ring useful especially for those who make videos. Price (street price) certainly high but in line with the market and indeed I would say cheaper than the competition Nikon Z and Canon RF. I will update the review in a few weeks with more details.
