sent on 30 Giugno 2024 Pros: Excellent sharpness, in the center always very incisive "at f2.8 the edges remain a little behind the center both at 24 and 70mm, like almost all zooms!", very soft bokeh with beautiful circular lighting effects and never nervous, solid construction, focal range ring at the right hardness and without play whatsoever, obviously tropicalized, in a nutshell.... Professional and made to last! Cons: If I have to find any: It costs a lot but in my opinion it's worth all the money spent. The burden for some,... NOT for me! quality with a "Q" takes its toll! Opinion: As far as I'm concerned, and from what I've been able to test, comparing it to other professional 24-70mm f2.8 zooms I've used, and there are a lot of them, I can safely confirm the excellent image performance as well as the very solid construction. Beyond the pleasant sensation in handling this zoom, you immediately perceive the quality, I think it is built really well. The weight is there, you can't deny it, but I prefer a few grams/hectograms more and have a quality lens that, in addition to being performing, lasts me over time, rather than a lens built with vinavil and plastic to reduce the weight. Nowadays, on the market, there are various "plasticotti" that, although performing as well as paying for them in gold, often do not return a pleasant sensation and do not seem to be made to last. That said, the lens is sharp already at TA both at 24 and 70mm, it suffers a bit from flare in backlight and occasionally there are also slight aberrations at TA especially at 24mm, instead at 70mm they are almost non-existent. Nothing dramatic or irreparable, these are the typical and small drawbacks of a zoom that can be easily solved, both with automatic corrections in the car and with a program on the PC.... With due precautions these problems arise less, so I recommend that you always keep the lens hood on unless you are looking for special effects. I read about someone who is not satisfied with the sharpness of this lens, I use it on my Sony A7R Mark V 61mpx and despite the ultra dense and pretentious sensor, I have not noticed this drop in sharpness neither at 24mm nor at 70mm at TA, obviously I am talking about the image center, clear that, at the edges something at TA is always lost, Especially with very bright zooms, just close one or two stops to have a noticeable improvement even at the edges... From f5.6 up to f11 it's razor-sharp everywhere, closing the diffraction problem again takes over. As for the AF, I can say that it has never disappointed me, it is very responsive and precise. What can I say.... I'm more than satisfied and highly recommend it, as long as 886g isn't a problem for you!
sent on 10 Marzo 2024 Pros: Image quality, customizable button Cons: Weight, price Opinion: One of the best lenses I've ever used in conjunction with the Sony a7rii and a7iii. Excellent image quality, fast and accurate AF. I regret selling it two years ago and hope to be able to buy it again soon. If I really have to look for a flaw maybe I would say the weight and maybe the price (but on the other hand if you want a quality lens the price goes up). For those who do amateur photography like me for simple shots without big pretensions, owning such a lens is a blessing.
sent on 07 Maggio 2022 Pros: The first all-rounder I bought, How to say: the first love is never forgotten! Cons: Various defects (read the opinion) Opinion: I owned two copies of this all-rounder and it's still a top lens for Sony cameras. Waiting to see what version two will look like, version one is well built, very solid and very fine glass. It lacks the optical stabilizer but it is not a great absence (sony sensors think about it). The cons are the weight, it is felt after a long session, and the hood. Despite its age, the performance of this glass is still high: the focus works very well, both on new and previous machines (despite the old SSM engine), sometimes in low light conditions it is slow but it is still accurate. On sharpness it defends itself very well, it is a sharp lens with a bit of softness (even at the edges) at 70mm. Someone will bother, I personally do not hurt (in many cases, I look for it). It exploits excellently on machines with sensors from 24 to 42 mpx, Above 50mpx we are at the limit, but in general the performance is very high. The blurred is one of the aspects that I often look for in my photography and in this glass convinced me (halfway). In general it is good and / or soft, only in some cases at 24mm (not always) it was a bit "nervous"; bokeh balls are good at f2.8 but they are not full and smooth as in fixed and you can find onion structures inside and outside the spheres. Other annoying flaws are chromatic aberrations and flares, the latter horrible. Another con that almost everyone complains about is the cost, even if it is about 1600 euros. In general it is a "battle" lens that does everything and satisfies everything, and the Sony 24-70 GM is still valid in the photographic market and despite the age and some limitations could still be taken into account by photographers (amateurs and pros) who do not want to invest in version two, which will be smaller and sharper than the first version, or on other brands.
sent on 19 Marzo 2021 Pros: Solid construction, natural color rendering. Fairly fluid rings Cons: Excessive cost, low sharpness at full opening especially in edges. Blurred at full opening not the best. Opinion: I have been using this objective for a long time and I can now give my opinion. Full-aperture sharpness is not the best especially on the edges and is most noticeable at focal 70. I sold the Sigma 24-70 f 2.8 dn art to take this optics because sigma did not convince me for the color yield and grains of dirt under the front lens. The Sony 24-70 is built decidedly well and with a perfect seal worthy of a professional lens. The color rendering is excellent but with engraving compared to the slightly lower Sigma. An excellent fast lens in focus without uncertainties. It lends itself to intense and professional use as a bright all-rounder optics but to have excellent results you have to close to f4. Blurred in non-jumping portraits considering the price quite high compared to Sigma. Used in the studio it is perfect with very real shades and colors. Working at f 5.6 - 8 I can say that it is great and brings home a great final result. Solid and beautiful to handle as well as the whole GM series. The price is perhaps too high but like all GM optics unfortunately the cost is high.
sent on 28 Dicembre 2019 Pros: A great standard zoom with which you can do pretty much anything. The quality is typical of the GM series Cons: Weight, cost, plastic lampshade Opinion: Excellent zoom lens of the GM series to have absolutely in the bag. The maf is lightning fast, the quality even at full opening is deadly apart from a slight vignette. It has an extraordinary sharpness. I use it with an A7r4 and on some occasions it's still amazing. I use other brands with the classic 24-70/2.8 and this one from Sony competes with everyone.
sent on 24 Ottobre 2019 Pros: ------- Cons: Presence of flare, unwatchable lampshade, filter diameter 82, non-mirrorless size Opinion: We completely skip the part on optical quality: it is good but there is important flare presence. This means that in frantic conditions the probability of pulling off a discarded shot is unfortunately a reality. Now, on an instrument intended for a professional, I consider it extremely limiting. It is true that you can get used to it, but it is true that having to be one of the last projects of 24-70 on the market, I find it a little annoying that it is suffering from a similar problem. Otherwise it has no big flaws, the focus speed is instantaneous, the customizable button is comfortable, the zoom dial is fluid but it's better. In short, it's a mediocre optics that I personally think stand alongside titans like the 24 GM or the 135 GM of Sony's professional series. We add to the package that it is not a compact or light lens (it looks like a 24-70 from reflex )... Personally I consider the 28-75 Tamron a much more sensible choice, or even better other fixed lenses like a batis 40.
sent on 24 Ottobre 2019 Pros: Almost EVERYTHING! Cons: Weight.Paraluce. Price but Quality Costa!!! Opinion: I find a best 24-70 ever produced so far!!! I can compare it to canons and tamrons you've had before... Not that comparison! And my personal opinion! With a7III, a6300 and old lady a7R behaves like God! In 4K video, it can solve the FF sensor to the fullest! Maybe we could complain about the lampshade that Aunt Sony could do a little bit more... I recommend trying!!!
sent on 21 Dicembre 2018 Pros: Fast, accurate, reliable Cons: Flare-Plasticous Lens Hood Opinion: Excellent lens, I use it as everything do with my A7R3. I do not find any faults nor encundiments nor weight, but this is only a purely subjective factor. On a practical level it is a lens that you don't miss a photo. Performing, fast and accurate as I said in the title. The only big flaw in my opinion are the presence of flare... definitely too annoying and you have to resort to stratagems or other to avoid them. I mean, they wouldn't even be such a big problem, but for what it costs and what it promises, it shouldn't suffer so much. For the rest, I have nothing to say: It is definitely a very good target!
sent on 01 Novembre 2018 Pros: Everything make fantastic-solid construction-aesthetically beautiful-crisp-weather sealed-F2,8 constant-excellent bokeh-excellent for landscapes and portraits-precise, fast and quiet AF. Cons: Flare – Plasticky Lens hood – price even if justified.- Opinion: I bought it these days for my Sony Alpha 7riii fabulous binomial. I do not list all the positive things I checked, I would bore you, I do first to say that I did not find anything negative. The flare you OK is boring (the backlight must be really crash) but just open it 1 or 2 stops and everything is solved. A limit in post production with Lightroom resolves the whole thing quickly and easily. I come from Nikon and Nikon lenses, fabulous, this I think has nothing to envy.
sent on 07 Gennaio 2018 Pros: sharpness, speed in focusing, practically a whole do 24-105 (70 to 105 in APS-C) Cons: the weight, even if in line with the characteristics of the objective.rn Opinion: I have just made a 16-day trip to Sicily and, as I usually do, in addition to the A7R2, I also brought with me the precious 28 mm to be assembled in the moments when the 886 g are felt. I can say that I have never replaced the formidable 24-70 mm f / 2.8, so the weight, which was an unknown factor, was not a problem. I just looked at the pictures of the trip and I'm excited about the sharpness, the colors and the depth of the images. I will not dwell on the characteristics of the lens already widely described by Giuseppe Proto that I share.rnThe purchase of this lens has simplified my optical systems: I sold both the 55 mm and 90 mm that would have taken dust.rnIn 50 years of photography passed between Nikon and Canon is definitely the best lens possessed (without forgetting the camera body!).
sent on 16 Ottobre 2017 Pros: SONY'S TOP (CONSTRUCTION - YIELD - AF AND BOKEH) Cons: FLARE and PRICE (but not prohibited) Opinion: Does the question still make sense to buy this lens? For me, YES! I owned it for two years (2017-2019), sold it to replace this lens with a Sony 50mm, a nonsensical move and here I took it back but without fainting too much together with the Sony a7RIII. An exceptional lens both in its construction and in its performance. The first 24-70GM I owned was resolute but in some cases it was poorly engraved (especially at f2.8) This I find very engraved even at full opening from 24 to 70. The focus engine, despite being an SSM, works very well. Even in continuous af continuo. The Bokeh is very soft and the color is very natural with well balanced contrast. With the sony a7RIII the use for Street photography, portraits, landscape and reportage.. Personally it is a lens that deserves to be bought, although the competition is very ruthless especially with tamron and Sigma. Although many are waiting for a version 2 of the next 24-70, I don't like to give the votes but personally deserves a 9.5 Brava SONY
sent on 01 Settembre 2017 Pros: Quality, precision, speed, construction and design are at the highest levels Cons: ONLY ATTACK AND Opinion: I've been waiting to reconsider this optic so I can get a better idea. I'm coming from the Nikon world where (they all know) that its optics are amazing both in quality and in speed. I recently owned a D810 with 24 70 2.8 VR and I can say quietly that Sony's GM is clearly sharper, soft in the boker and silent than the Canon version I got to know through a dear friend.rn WHAT TO AGGREGATE? PERFECT:) rn
sent on 22 Febbraio 2017 Pros: Sharpness, Boken, costruzionern Cons: Flare, weight. Opinion: I waited a little bit before drawing my conclusions for the simple reason that I have not got to try it for a whole day, which, took place last Monday .l'obbiettivo from the great feeling of robustness and accuracy in even the nuts details they are fluid and useful. By F 2.8 to F 5.6 returns a quality sharpness and three-dimensional feeling of detachment and unique plans, even the colors seem good to say nothing of the boken, extraordinary 2.8 .Sadly closing more the lens lose a lot, especially in color rendering and all the eden seems to fade. backlit an annoying flare (I always photographed with fixed, and I like their example, 25 batis of zeiss in against full light does not bat an eyelid but then again being a fixed headlights have less and less possibility of such symptoms) .In Overall a great lens considering that it is a 24/70 weight seems to me too is average competition. I reserve as I will have to play a bit of he reviewedKing more accurately.
