Pros: 12MPX, remarkable ISO hold

Cons: 4K 30p video, battery life, 8bit

Opinion: Taken in 2025 at a ridiculous price to shoot videos, I also started taking pictures of it and I must say that it surprised me a lot. The 12mpx are a virtue for both 1080p and 4k videos (unfortunately only 30fps, I'm a fan of 30fps much more cinematic but if you play with slow motion it's better to work at 60fps +) but also for photos with high iso, certainly it doesn't crop like the A7RII which is like having two lenses but it wasn't born for this. Given the price, the critical issues are easily bypassed, of course when it cost 3k they were felt (battery, 4k only 30fps, 8bit...), the closest choice in my opinion is the A7III which is better in almost everything and that if it had had 10bit for videos it would have torn it up, which is not true, so the A7S II, in my opinion, it is still a valid choice in 2025 and still allows us to bring home amazing results today

Pros: Construction, handling, iso, file, dynamic range, stabilized.

Cons: "only" 12 Mpx, sometimes uncertain autofocus, complex menu

Opinion: Sony's S-series is a guarantee when there is no light. Crazy dynamic range and iso. Uncompressed raw files of excellent workmanship. Camera designed for video but also excellent for photographs. 12 Mpx still allow you to print an A3 with good quality, used for years for all kinds of photographic projects. Despite being a machine with its age, if found at a good price it is absolutely worth the expense. Undisputed queen of the night. Vote 9

Pros: 700 euros used full frame featherweight

Cons: Featherweight

Opinion: Spectacular photos and videos, lightness and portability that are very comfortable, then if you want to mount heavy optics there is the battery grip that helps a lot. I use it with 27 2, 18 and 45 samyang plus 70 180 tamron and I am fine. Convenient ibis for video photos with the Cage, for the rest with gimbal and slider is not needed. Cool slow-motion that always remains detailed even if cropped 2.2x and fhd. Af side is not a splinter but it is always valid, especially in the dark. Poor battery, but just take a little' stock maybe of competition that cost little. Menu messed up but still usable. Socket for 700 euros used has no defects, for the rest there are machines from 3000 euros that are better.... But do we really need 4k at 50 fps? Or machine gun volleys? At least for me no, and I live happy all the same, I forgot I'm not a pro and therefore I have no special needs

Pros: 5 years after its debut, it is still a machine that can say its in the video field in low-light contexts. Stabilization on the sensor.

Cons: The real Achilles heel of Mark 2 is the autofocus. In 2020, the 8-bit 4:2:0 codec is also an important limitation.

Opinion: Great machine considering age. In photographic use it is able to give emotions especially in low light conditions. The 12 megapixels are a limitation if you are looking for the exasperation of the detail. With 12 mpx you can print important formats without losing quality. The presence of s-log2 and s-log3 have made it a powerful tool for videographers. Stabilizing is a very useful tool and Sony has done very well to equip this machine with the IBIS.

Pros: The sensor in general

Cons: Nothing really serious

Opinion: I took this car after having for 3 years the previous (A7s) I had fallen in love with. What about this A7sII? I love it! The sense is really interesting, with its 12mpx that work wonders. It's only 12, but they really give you a lot. Almost all my photos are chrome, some even in a heavy way and yet the file comes out winning. The hold at high ISO is very good and the dynamic range is really remarkable. Compared to series 1, ergonomics has improved and now the shutter button is finally where it should be. The stabilizer does its job. For my photigraphic genre it is a great machine and the af also satisfies me. I have noticed that, although I also own the A7rII, and without wanting to make comparisons, I must admit that I have a feeling and a lanking understanding with this A7sII that with the A7rII. Leather chesrione! In short, if you have used at least once the A7s then in this you will find everything that was good in the previous series plus some improvements not egregious. A little bit everything works better than before but not exaggeratedly. Recommended.

Pros: Full Frame extraordinary - 12.2 Mp quality - Suitable for both photographs, but goes great with Video - High ISO points - 4k and interesting slowmotion

Cons: Expensive (even if € 3,300 is not a price affordable for everyone) - the Rec button is a bit uncomfortable - But the AF of mirrorless is its Achilles heel.

Opinion: I confess that the passion for photography, there have always, but the first SLR, the Canon EOS 700d, I took early 2016, after which, for over 7 years, I have used only compact and bridge. From 1 November, I went with some doubt, the Sony A7SII, but after a while, playing carefully, I think I guessed this gem. I admit that I used it more as a camera, which as a "camera" (excuse the word). But it is extraordinary in everything. What I often hear read, in various forums, it is that this machine, as it is beautiful but also damn expensive, is a machine that has some flaws: not so much in the batteries (just take a vertical grip that makes you take the car twice of normal). The autofocus is a bit slow (maybe that is the real problem) especially when I have to draw an object / person closely. But when I switch to manual mode, all right. On Video I do not feel to expressthat much, because by the time I use it as a camera, it should work fine. rnPer the moment I limit myself only to 1080p 50fps, then playing it well, much more will find out. I would not make a judgment by a professional photographer, but as possessor of A7SII, is a machine with infinite potential, I've read many articles or posts on alpha, they have praised abroad, in Italy (unfortunately, critical as ever ) is somewhat underestimated. But I can confirm that having a car like this, you can not help it. It 'a machine that not everyone can afford it, but I think the A7SII is extraordinary (not as much as the A7RII, but the baby is tough) ...

Pros: To make video machine appreciated! Phenomenal held high ISO

Cons: Battery of short duration

Opinion: A car just fantastic to make videos, I see a little inappropriate reviewing this model in a pure photography forum. Those who want to take pictures you must take an SLR and point! Anyway vote 10, but you have to use it the right way and according to their needs. The battery life leaves something to be desired but they are present in the kit 2. Fantastic can connect it directly to the wall socket to recharge.

Pros: Milgiore handle than the previous management of the incredible noise at high ISO, 4K internal profiles with different S-Log, improved AF, shutter life, internal stabilizer

Cons: Cost, interval timer app / timelapse fee, a single CF slot, maybe some MPix more, Rec uncomfortable

Opinion: I took this mirrorless after using the previous A7s, I noticed several improvements including better management of noise at high ISO and the long exposures; finally a worthy internal stabilization that helps both the video with optical non-IS or adapted; video in 4K XAVC with different profiles slog useful to a color correction and color grading of quality; improved even more with the AF points and facial recognition which is very convenient in video with subjects movimento.rnNon exists inside the interval timer for timelapse, please also pay € 9.99 for a dedicated app and given the cost I find it a little ridicolo.rnLa find a right compromise for video and photos, especially in low light, even though having such 16Mpix would not hurt to make timelapse 4K perhaps giving a slight croppatina to photos or to create pages in a dynamic zoom on scena.rnNel complex excellent mirrorless, to be coupled to a lean future A7rII yielding a reflex ... we'll see!
