sent on 18 Aprile 2021 Pros: Sharpness, blurry, three-dimensionality, now you buy well Cons: Warm, unsealed colors Opinion: Crisp even at full opening it has a gorgeous bokeh and a three-dimensionality worthy of the best portrait ings. Built very well and aesthetically pleasing now it is at attractive prices. I was lucky with my 90D not having f-b focus issues. It returns somewhat warm colors but nothing that cannot be solved in pp. It's not tropicalized. Vote 9
sent on 06 Maggio 2019 Pros: AF speed, sharpness, blurred, general yield Cons: Colors not really "exhilarating", but all in all a triuncy Opinion: I state that I do not love the tele, but moving to full frame (Sony A99) I wanted something longer than the fifty, and lighter than the Zeiss 24 70 and Minolta 80 200. After some research I found myself in a specimen of this 85 at a very low price and in excellent condition, and it was love at first sight. The build quality is really good, the ring of the MAF is resistant to the right and precise, the plastic is solid and the whole body looks well built. The AF/MF selector is convenient. The AF is so accurate and fast that disassembling this lens will be a pain, and I do it only when I need to physically stay closer to the subject and I require less millimeters. Beautiful The blurred, stupendous yield down to 1.4 (I see the pores of the skin and the individual cigli), a blade already at 2.0, at 3.5 We are at an incredible definition. Only downside compared to Minolta and Zeiss are the colors, if you get used to that delicate saturation you hardly do without it, but I prefer to spend the third part and have a supersonic AF and correct any hue preferences in Photoshop with two clicks.
sent on 13 Febbraio 2018 Pros: Sharpness, overall yield between color, three-dimensionality, microcontrast and detachment of the floors, price, valuable construction Cons: Some chromatic aberration, af not in line with the general goodness of the lens. Opinion: I wanted a 85mm for years, I wanted it since I started making photography for fun.rnThe sigma EX DG 85mm 1.4 was my second choice after the model Art that honestly offered more but not enough to justify the expense that would have compromised the purchase of a second lens (Canon Biancone). For about 500 € I took a lens that is pure poetry, big blurred, soft and beautiful homogeneous, to 1.4 everything that is not the subject becomes a confused drape that enhances even more the figure taken. Bright at the right point, clear beyond measure. The main flaw in my opinion is that the autofocus turns out to be quite uncertain in situations where it should not be wrong absolutely, under a meter and a half effort to hook and the depth of field does not help absolutely, so it is a fixed that you need to know how to use and requires probably time to be governed in a way. The aberrations are present but just close 2/3 stop to have a fantastic rendering free from optical defects and for a sharp fright. From 1.4a 2 is poetry, from 2.8 to 9 is the thread of a blade just forged, over f9 I would not push because in my model the sharpness drops drastically. In any case, an extremely nurtured lens that is beautiful to look at and use
sent on 05 Febbraio 2017 Pros: price-quality image ratio Cons: slow af that struggles with low light Opinion: For use in the studio is great, it gave me nice satisfactions. The blurry is pleasant, the colors although slightly cold do not displease me. In the past I had the 85 1.8 of Canon, this Sigma is superior and much like image quality. But Autofocus Canon is something else. If photographed mainly non-static subjects is everything.
sent on 22 Dicembre 2016 Pros: optical performance even at TA, blurred wonderful, light weight considering F1.4, the colors and finally the price of 'used. Cons: Perhaps the fact that one day pulling out of the drawer after a few months that I used no longer the 'AF was wrong and I had to send him assistance. Surely it was a problem of my copy. Opinion: I 've got it used less than 500 €, but now with the' out of 'art maybe some eurino less you spende.rnBellissima lens from portrait (for me there' was needed of 'output of the model art) recommend it because it is capable of giving the beautiful foto.rnNitidezza, blurry, colors, size, price of 'used and quality of materiali.rnQuesto is the' only 85mm that I tried so this judgment is the result of 'use of this slow and not a confrontation but I do not feel the need to compare it to because for me is gorgeous
sent on 16 Ottobre 2016 Pros: optical performance in general, second-rate Cons: It does not work in the af live view. Opinion: In principle I agree with previous opinions both qualities that defects. Only add that in the LV af does not work (at least on the Nikon). It 'something little known and some of this information may be of interest. rnPer the rest does not have the recording of the last art of Sigma but it definitely has more character! I took a little more than € 450 used in excellent condition and I love it. The mine also has an af precise although not fast. Just enough to make excellent foto.rnMi feel to recommend!
sent on 30 Settembre 2016 Pros: Very bright, sharp even at TA (at least in the middle), sturdy construction and with quality materials, unbeatable quality/price ratio Cons: Fringing evident at Ta on strong contrasts, heavy and cumbersome (especially with the hood mounted), optics not easy to exploit completely Opinion: I managed to find one of the last specimens with Pentax graft and I use it with satisfaction on both the K-3 and the K-S2. The great brightness allows you to shoot even with very little light without lifting the ISO too much. In fact, in some situations with strong ambient light, the fastest time of the K-S2 (1/6000) can be even too slow and if you want to shoot at f/1.4 You must use a filter ND2 or ND4. Also at TA maintains a good sharpness in the center, a little ' less at the edges (but in the portraits is less important), but just close one stop and becomes clear on the whole frame, still maintaining an excellent blurry. Blurry that, thanks to the 9 rounded blades of the diaphragm, is very nice. In strong contrasts, at TA you notice conspicuous fringing, which already disappear at f/1.8. You can remove them in PP but you have to work a bit. On my specimen I noticed some (rare) case of autofocus a little iffy in some situations at f/1.4 but, given the low depth of field at these apertures, there is. But generally the autofocus is accurate and discreetly responsive, although speed is not indispensable in a portrait lens. The optics itself, despite the huge frontal lens, will brandeggia well even if it is not exactly a feather, but with the hood becomes very cumbersome, even more if you mount the additional ring for APS-C. In essence it is a great quality lens, sturdy and well built, as by Sigma tradition. It is not easy to use properly and to make the most of the considerable potential requires patience, but once you know it well gives great satisfaction, especially given the price
sent on 08 Gennaio 2016 Pros: First of all the combination: "extreme sharpness at full aperture-wonderful bokeh": its absolute dowry more worthy of note! Then the construction very "pro".... Optics that in his hand feels so robust, "true"! Cons: The AF not always very precise... Often a little uncertain in the "stop" the focus, definitely not very reactive in the micro changes of focus.... However, let's face it, at F 1.4, opening with which I use the optics in 80 percent of cases, I really would be in trouble to say when is the optical AF to err and when, conversely, I am not "center" correctly... At these openings we really talk about a few inches of depth of field... Opinion: Excellent value for money I possess (still currently) the Samyang 85 1.4, beautiful, and I had, before this Sigma, the Nikkor 85 1.8 G (aesthetically, by the way, much more plasticoso): the latter, for goodness sake, excellent lens, sharp already at full aperture, beautiful colors, but..... It wasn't and it's not a f 1.4, let's face it too! The bokeh was very very pleasant, but without being able to have that effect (wonderful!!!) fairytale and dreamy that gives me this Sigma (and that, of course, give the homologues Nikkor)! Moreover, my personal opinion, the 85 1.8 g always gave me the impression of being too "saturated" in the surrender, almost "contrived" in some situations of light.... The Sigma I find it a more neutral and pleasant rendition... At 1.4, I repeat, it's a real blade, crisp... That is: I, practically, use it almost only at full aperture and I never found myself having "regretted" not having closed a bit ' the diaphragm to have more detail. The only real flaw and Achilles heel of the lens, is the autofocus. Not so much for the slowness, or for the lack of precision (I have not noticed phenomena of back or front focus in any of the 4 reflex with which I used it)... As for a certain physiological "indecision" in taking the focus point. Same behavior that also have the Sigma 50 1.4 old and the Sigma 30 1.4 old (pure from me used). Nothing particularly serious, however, I recognize, the phenomenon can become particularly annoying species if you want to "run after" to moving subjects (like: My baby!). In this sense the Nikkor 85 1.8 G was indisputably better. The price in the used is very palatable.
sent on 14 Novembre 2014 Pros: sharpness, bokeh and very favorable price compared to what 'returns Cons: perhaps a little 'differences in yield at room temperature but I think it's an inherent fault of large openings Opinion: I tried a glass for portraits that would make me nn spend a whopping 1.2 equivalent of Canon and Sigma concerned I think I have achieved the right balance (I would say very favorable) .nitidezza already at room temperature and out of focus considerable strengths in my humble parere.rnmi would recommend it to anyone who wants a great portrait lens
sent on 11 Giugno 2014 Pros: quality / price ratio, aperture 1.4, construction Cons: ring in too short hike (90 ° between 85 cm to infinity) and a little duretta if you want to use the MAF manual Opinion: Very first impression, but I would add a note also the same because the reviews are so far few giant front lens ... that alone says a lot, solid construction and excellent finish. Autofocus very accurate (in my copy). Costs half the canon 1.2, I do not argue that the canon is superior but also having to do the math ...
sent on 04 Marzo 2012 Pros: Sharpness, Bokeh excellent, affordable price compared to offers! Cons: AF is not lightning but precise, suffers from purple fringing to f / 2.8 out of stark contrasts. Opinion: So much glass! 77mm in diameter are felt in terms of weight, nevertheless remains very manageable, already superlative sharpness wide open at f / 1.4. The construction is superb, I do not mind even the finish. Bokeh creamy and smooth, a joy to behold, processing PP is reduced to a few simple steps, because the lens gives excellent shots (at least on my 7D) From taken into account and not cheap, is supplied with a lens for two versions, simple extension for FF and APS-C, although the extension becomes cumbersome, I have not ever used it so far and the pictures seem good even so! Given the cost of the competition and the quality of this Sigma lens gives, I feel fully satisfied! Really recommended!
sent on 02 Gennaio 2012 Pros: Brightness, value for money, good high sharpness wide open already, boken excellent. Cons: Autofocus is not always flawless and only moderately fast, color fringing on the edges visible to f/2.8 Opinion: For what it costs is a great lens, less cumbersome and heavy 85 canon, case and lens hood, to fully enjoy this lens recommended full frame, not cropped makes giustizia.Per instance a 50 on aps-c is not equal to un'85 FF.Oggi of the term of comparison used is the angle of the field covered and lost too much weight yield and the characteristics of the focal length.
sent on 05 Novembre 2011 Pros: sharpness, low cost compared to the competition Cons: f not lightning Opinion: The first thing to say is that this view is really sharp! Although in portraits sharpness is not always the most important factor the lens is appreciated for the recording of details that leaves already at full aperture. It is sold with case and lens hood "normal" more extension of the hood to APS-C, although the hood "extended" is really bulky, so I use it often. The autofocus is fast but not very fast, especially in low light conditions, but it is accurate (it is easier to an error due to a lack pdc with this lens). The objective weighing, and would have preferred that the outside was less "glossy", because you can see if there are any streaks, but it's definitely solid as construction. It is truly a pleasure to use, and taking into account that it costs much less than the equivalent canon / nikon offers a valid alternative. Very, very recommended!
