sent on 12 Settembre 2023 Pros: Good construction, sharpness and overall rendering. Cons: Excessive distortion at 24mm, very annoying dust infiltration. Opinion: The lens itself is really well done. Solid materials, respectable image quality (except for the barrel distortion very accentuated at 24mm). The thing that disappointed me most is the tropicalization: it is true that there was a defective baking, but the dust that manages to slip is really excessive. I contacted mtrading and they asked me 150€ for internal cleaning and replacement of gaskets. But it seems strange to me since the serial is subsequent to those of the "defective baked". Okay, as soon as I can I will send him to assist to do this check. One thing I hate and love at the same time is the zoom lock. On the one hand, it's terrific not to worry too much about that kind of blockage. On the other hand, I notice that it is uncomfortable when it takes little to disarm it. In short, it extends too easily. To conclude, a lens that I love and that I almost always use since I bought it.
sent on 25 Agosto 2023 Pros: Solid construction, bokeh, sharpness, excellent microcontrast, AF speed, no AC Cons: Nothing, maybe the famous 24mm vignetting but nothing dramatic Opinion: Yes, in the end I took this Sigma glass to replace the Lumix 24-105 f4. A choice considered for a long time because the Lumix is a great lens, but the Sigma quality and the f2.8 aperture were decisive in the final decision. Having the Lumix 70-200 I also wanted to rationalize the kit, completed by the Sigma 14-24 f2.8 DG DN that I own, and count with a valid lens also for video shooting. Praised in dozens of editorial reviews and videos (take a look at Youtube), loved by many professional photographers and enthusiasts. So, fantastic goal, if ever there was any doubt. Superlative sharpness, perfect contrast, CA practically absent especially at focal lengths and lower apertures, distortions under control, very well managed flare or almost absent. Light vignetting, easily solved in PP, while I point out the presence of a delicate and progressive bokeh thanks to the f2.8 aperture and the 11 blades of the diaphragm. Pro construction like every Sigma Art, weight adequate to the general quality, perfectly balanced on the Lumix S1 on which it is mounted, lightning AF on a par with native optics, very fluid and regular rings and a very useful function button that I use for selecting the focus area, hood with lock button. I thought that any alternative could make me regret the beloved Lumix 24-105, but this Sigma replaces it perfectly and painlessly, offering more even at the expense of the lower focal length. I also point out the reduced focusing distance (18 cm on the 24mm focal length) and the gasket on the bayonet that protects the lens and camera from dust. It is not stabilized, but the excellent stabilization of the S1 makes up for the lack. It must be said that some specimens have presented dust tightness problems, with dirt infiltrating the front lens block. Sigma has provided free total cleaning and dust tightness adjustment for specimens that have registered this problem up to serial number 55641775. Beyond this serial the lenses produced have been updated with a dust and dirt proof seal, definitively solving the problem. To conclude, Pro objective to which to deliver your creativity without fear, with the certainty of using a truly valid tool in terms of optical performance, versatility and general quality. All with a very affordable price.
sent on 17 Luglio 2023 Pros: price, sharpness, robustness, operating speed, colors, extremely controlled flare Cons: size, weight, stiffness of the zoom ring (although at this price I challenge anyone to call them defects) Opinion: Taken as an alternative to the GM II, too expensive for me currently, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Lens really big and heavy, I would never take it with me on vacation, it would make me want to shoot, but when you sit at the PC and recheck the files leaves you speechless and I could not ask for anything else from a 24-70. I'm sure that with her mounted on my A7IV if the photo is not beautiful it's only my fault. It has a slightly warmer shade than the Sony lenses I own, extremely pleasant. The autofocus is perfect, as if it were original, I have never seen it trudge even once and it has never made me doubt the purchase compared to the GM. The only reason that could make me prefer the Sony to Sigma is the weight, but it does not seem to me to justify € 1800 difference between the two lenses, rather I buy a couple of first and use those. It has a slight vignetting at 24mm at 2.8 but I have never seen a 24-70 without this problem, it has never seemed so marked as I read in previous reviews, but still nothing incorrigible with a click. I inquired about the dust grains under the first front element caused by the suction of the barrel, Sigma confirmed that in all new models have fixed the gaskets and should no longer present any problem, hopefully well, I must say that after 6 months of intense use I have not encountered any problem. I admit, however, that this problem made me opt for the purchase of a new and unused lens, so evaluate yourself. Last note, the zoom ring is in my opinion exaggeratedly contrasted, which on the video side does not allow a controlled zoom but is always extremely abrupt. Of course we are talking about a photographic zoom but given the hybrid use of every camera we do nowadays we cannot avoid such a consideration. Goal passed with flying colors.
sent on 03 Luglio 2022 Pros: Art construction, sharp, fast af, total lens quality Cons: as already highlighted small distortion at 24mm, also I can not find the lens profile in CR and Lr Opinion: taken to replace the excellent 24-105 lumixS more to standardize the files having already 85 and 105 art. All-rounder optics that allows you to do everything with quality, price in line for build quality, heavy but like all art l glass good weighs. In my version of Lr I can't find the lens profile to apply any corrections automatically, but it's more a curiosity than a real need. Optics highly recommended vote for me 9.5 I put my hand back to the review after about a season of intense use of the optics, to report that the quality of the rubber of the rings has quite disappointed me, with the use they have discolored even if they are not loose but aesthetically it is very ugly to see, I also point out the very hard lens hood graft, which caused visible markings on the attachment of the same, I drop from 9.5 to 9 the evaluation for the defects mentioned above
sent on 29 Marzo 2022 Pros: Sharpness Cons: Evident barrel distortion not too easy to remove with Lr. Light vignetting. Opinion: A focal length that I am appreciating in the landscape in the presence of traditionally more used focal lengths, such as the 16-35. It performs well in most situations although the flaws I mentioned are quite obvious, at least as far as the lens in my possession is concerned. The sharpness is excellent and absolutely does not undergo diffraction even at rather closed apertures such as f 16.
sent on 16 Maggio 2021 Pros: clarity at all focal points,colors,three-dimensionality, microcontrasto, lightning, fluid manual focus ring Cons: weight, vignetting Opinion: the lens is of a stratospheric quality and then concerning the images it churns out creates a certain dependence... I believe that here we are at the top for a handyman 2.8 the quality' I repeat is very high at all focal points, the microcontrastate colors give a remarkable three-dimensionality to the images, the autofocus is a splinter and even in poor light conditions does not miss a shot, the ring of the manual focus is very fluid just touch it and this is a plus especially for those who make video. in my opinion for the price and yield it offers I would say it is must have!
sent on 24 Febbraio 2021 Pros: Just purchased but I can confirm all the positive opinions read, construction, solidity, sharpness, etc. Cons: I would like to point out the strong vignetting at 24mm... you settle in a click on real pc but it's still very noticeable Opinion: I sold the 35f2.8 zeiss the 12mm samyang and the 135mm samyang to be able to take this sigma zoom, I am overdone!! At f2.8 the three-dimensionality is fantastic with a depth effect that from really excellent results Weighs a little but goes well.. I noticed that already some small dot of dust has entered and this makes me turn the Optical balls a little to have absolutely!
sent on 21 Dicembre 2020 Pros: Construction quality on the highest levels. Sharpen at all focal points, minimum focus distance. Paraluce finally done properly. Cons: After using for a long time I found grains of dust under the front lens and this made me infer that there is no proper sealing. I point out that I've always used in the studio so poor nothing. Another factor that I did not like is the color calibration that I found in RAW, to be then arranged in PP compared to original optics. Opinion: A professional lens for many uses. This lens is the most used in my kit as it allows me to deal with many work situations without the thought of having to change optics. Excellent blurry (clearly not at fixed lens levels) the construction and fluidity of the rings is excellent. The zummare ring is fluid. It has no stabilization but on Sony A7III - on then it's perfect. The focus is fast and hardly wrong, colors and aberrations are normal and easily corrected in posts. Advisable on many occasions where changing optics is problematic. The weight may be excessive but we talk about glass lenses and metal construction, it is not the usual plastic but a lens for even heavy working uses. Close-up focus allows you to make great close-ups to details by blurring and playing with sealing. Excellent lens for ceremonies where speed is essential to capture the highlights.

sent on 14 Dicembre 2020 Pros: Minimum focus distance, price, image quality, sharpness, bokeh Cons: Flare, star effect, vignette Opinion: As soon as it came out I already knew it was going to be my favorite lens. The focal length from 24 to 70 is the most used and such a zoom you have to have it. Sharpness is not denied, following the line of Sigma's Art objectives, exceptional. The cost is absolutely reasonable, especially when compared to the GM version of Sony. Weight is not a problem for me, because it is synonymous with quality. The slightest focus distance is the gem that made me prefer it over Sony. Turning to the cons, he suffers a lot from flares, especially if you want to take a shot in the backlight, maybe to a closed diaphragm to get the star effect. The flare in this case will cover most of the photo, with a star effect that will definitely not be pleasant. It's an important factor for me because I do a lot of landscaping, but maybe it won't be a problem for someone else. As far as vignetting is concerned, even with lightroom automatic corrections it is sometimes necessary to make small adjustments in manuals, since under certain conditions and with certain sectarian conditions, it turns out to be excessive. But this could be a problem that only has my lens, so I can't say any more.
sent on 21 Novembre 2020 Pros: Robustness, high overall quality, price Cons: Maybe the footprint\\weight but for a quality lens it's really the least problem Opinion: Exceptional all-rounder, crisp already at TA, excellent colors, AC practically absent, distortion correctable already in the body machine ... all this combined with an impeccable construction and sense of overall robustness. Of course it is quite bulky and heavy and almost unbalances the A7R2 but still this is the price to pay for a quality lens. Speaking of "price", in relation to the quality offered I would say that we are faced with an excellent deal considering the cost of the GM consideration.
sent on 18 Giugno 2020 Pros: Construction, quality, price Cons: Weight (like all Art), hot dominant Opinion: I bought this optics as a first purchase from the switch to Sony, my previous experience in this range of focals was with the 24 70 2.8 nikon, and this sigma proves much sharper, bokeh sharper and above all a much more controlled vignette. I have not tried the sony Gm in order to be objective in the E-mount world, but as a first optic I am satisfied with the purchase.
sent on 01 Maggio 2020 Pros: sharpness, build quality, minimum MaF distance Cons: weight and size Opinion: Amazing lens, very sharp already at TA, excellently built, very solid, AF very fast and quiet. I thought about it a lot before choosing it compared to Tamron and GM, for me the 4mm at the bottom were fundamental and I preferred it to Tamron sacrificing the significant increase in weight and size, compared to the GM the only real difference is the cost...
sent on 01 Aprile 2020 Pros: Construction, sharpness, speed in afc, microcontract, colors Cons: maybe the weight Opinion: Exceptional lens to be a Zoom!!! I've been using it for a few days on Sony A7RIV and I was really amazed. Colors worthy of a Zeiss, very high microcontract, almost non-existent chromatic aberrations, almost zero flare at all openings. The bokeh is clearly not that of an 85 GM but it is more than good, certainly better than any other zoom I have tried, including gm. I wouldn't know what to ask for more from a lens that costs almost half the 24-70GM and has equal performance if not superior. Ah, focus already from 18cm to 24mm, a bonus not a small feat. I mean, I'm having a hard time getting it off. The only drawback is the weight that obviously with 800 and broken grams is felt, even if it is always well balanced in the car. Compared to the Tamron 28-75 the comparison does not exist.... The tamron in hand looks like a poorly assembled Chinese plastic toy, this all made of metal and super finished instead gives you a feeling of robustness and incredible solidity, by the way it is a made in Japan lens. Also nice is the very gripping petal lampshade.
