sent on 10 Dicembre 2025 Pros: versatile, AF, Size, upgrades, can be used with Z-series, color rendering Cons: Unobtainable filters, price Opinion: I bought this lens to use it with my Nikon D810 and Z6-Z7 with ftz adapter I have to say that I was amazed c, for the versatility I was in possession of its predecessor which was unusable with the Z series but with this lens and the update sign done via dock I can't ask for better, great both for landscapes and for group photos and architecture, Magnificent lens in every respect excellent sharpness with f11 apertures and soft blur at your aperture, the price is not among the most competitive but for what it offers it is worth it, vignetting is really non-existent with the correction system of the Z series and the colors are top. We highly recommend
sent on 25 Novembre 2025 Pros: Very good yield and relatively low price Cons: Igombre Opinion: I bought it as a replacement for the MF model, the one with the infamous "mustache" sprain, which perished in a bad fall. If you like extreme wide angles, this is the lens for you. Mechanically it works well, it focuses correctly with my A7II. Distortion and vignetting are present but to a lesser extent than the old MF, however you just need to have the lens profile in the post production software to put things back in place. The color rendering is very good, and also the resistance to reflections more than acceptable. It must be remembered that with such a lens it is almost impossible to avoid the sun on the pitch in the morning and afternoon hours. Given the very extreme focal length, managing perspective and falling lines requires a certain amount of habituation.
sent on 30 Aprile 2022 Pros: Price, construction, weight, optical performance in the center and at the edges at closed apertures Cons: sharpness at the edges with open frames (read below), fixed focal length, firmware update only with docking station Opinion: For me it is a surprising lens, particularly if you consider the price, which although not very low in absolute is the cheapest solution for a supergrandagolo FE with autofocus. I use it with an A7II for architecture and exhibition reportage, in the end I am putting it to the test in a hard way only now (I bought it just before the pandemic) and I must say that I am satisfied, once I understand the limits and peculiarities. First of all it is said that there is a lot of variability on the copies, mine seems to me, however, good, I do not notice obvious optical defects. Autofocus: the AF I found accurate even in conditions of very little light, I generally prefer to set the AF on central spot or flexible spot, and even more use it manually (see below) even if the "by wire" ring is a bit 'too sensitive for my taste. Distortion: there is, nothing to say but with a 14 you have to expect it, you can not shoot with a similar focal length as if it were a 28. Optical quality: The Sammy 14 AF is very sharp in the center, apparently less at the edges but still acceptable as long as you close the aperture a little. In the center it is more than acceptable already at F/3.2, which seems to me to be a remarkable performance in absolute. Actually, working on it a bit, I realized that this lens suffers from a slight curvature of the focal plane. This translates into seemingly soft edges, but the thing is surmountable by manually focusing at the appropriate distance and closing the aperture (at F11/F13 and focusing around 1.5/2 meters, maybe getting up a little, the whole picture is in focus to infinity and the extreme angles are perfectly sharp, try it to believe) For me, this lens gives its best to F/ 11, where there is also relatively little vignetting (which instead is felt at the open apertures) but is still usable even with open aperture, from F13 you begin to see a bit of diffraction. In short, you have to practice framing and focusing with such an extreme and "nervous" goal, once you have done a little practice the Sammy gives considerable satisfaction. The images it produces are generally well contrasted, three-dimensional and with excellent colors; the ability to get usable photos up to F/2.8 sometimes saves you a service, especially if you move freehand. Of course, having another budget (and a sturdy neck) it is better to throw yourself on the Sony 12-24 GM or the Sigma 14-24 which perhaps have slightly higher octane performance and are zoom (which is often a holy hand). But at the price of the Samyang (which is semi-new under 400 euros), if you stumble upon a good copy it is difficult to find better. PS. A flaw of this lens is that it is not possible to update its firmware through the camera but you have to get an expensive and difficult to find proprietary docking station.
sent on 24 Agosto 2020 Pros: Sharpness (especially in the center), focal, size Cons: Inaccurate Autofocus, MF Distances, Distortion Opinion: Great lens for the cost of sale. Excellent sharpness in the middle and good at the corners considering the extreme focus, which is definitely an added value in certain situations. Compact size and pretty good construction. The weak point is surely the autofocus, very often inaccurate, regardless of the light situation in which it works. I often found it difficult to focus even manually. In my personal opinion it is a lens to have to cover certain situations (also given the cost) but it must be combined with something more precise and less extreme to have a balanced set.
sent on 16 Luglio 2020 Pros: construction, price Cons: At this price nothing Opinion: It's a 14mm. It is a dutiful premise that must be made. You can't rate the sharpness uniformity of a 14mm as if it were a 50mm. That would be unfair. That said, the lens is egregious, especially the construction. It is solid, it really gives back a feeling of solidity, on the contrary for example the various Batis, with their lasco and pathetic lampshade, distressing for the sale price. It has no strange games, the front cap is grafted firmly, the ring is fluid, the red ring a touch of class. I start a little biased because my passion for the Samyangs is archnota, but they deserve it. Every lens they've released for Sony or the XP series is a small masterpiece. This is not, but not because the company could have done more, but because a 14mm can not be better than climbing dizzyingly with the price. On the super-grandangulars you have to settle. Here, however, the company combines the inevitable "optical mediocrity", other level features: fast and quiet AF, granite construction and inviting price. So I'm recommending it? Yes if you know what it means to shoot at 14mm, and what is a 14mm. Don't think that buying a Sony GM or a Sigma Art will get you so much better. You're not going from an 85 1.8 Canon to an 85 1.2 II. You will have less chromatic aberrations (but there will always be and you will have to correct them ), more uniformity of sharpness (but that with sensors above 36mpx still makes you see the detachment between center and edge ), less vignette (but that anyway at TA is always at least 2.5 points ), less distortion ( but always present and clear ),but ... you will not have eternal salvation in your hands. This type of lens does not compare at the level of complexity with the various medium-tele that have reached optical perfection for several years.
sent on 23 Marzo 2020 Pros: sharpness, weight, size Cons: in light flare backlight situations, non-optimal edge sharpness, af problems Opinion: Lens that I bought for budget reasons and because still not ready to buy among the top-of-the-range optics. I appreciate the yield, the sharpness (obviously not always so precise at the edges, but in the end it is), the size and lightness that allow you to have little footprint during travel. Slight distortion and vignette that can be solved during the post. Unfortunately in backlight suffers from flare, in fact in the photos I often noticed red rays, hardly usable for creative purposes in photos, sometimes going to create a slight halo that makes this area less sharp. There were also problems with the AF and difficulties in featured subjects while respecting the distance of focus. I conclude by saying that as a fixed to start, in value for money, it is a good lens. However, it should be borne in mind that (of course) it is not at the fixed/zoom sigma or GM levels of Sony.'
sent on 02 Settembre 2019 Pros: Also rendered in the corners, reduced distortion (compared to the old models), lightness, small size. Cons: Problems blocking af, optics often nn recognized by machine bodies Opinion: After a year in the company of the old model and the AF version on Canon used mainly for interior and landscape photography, I decided to move to the new sony having made the brand change. They've finally eliminated the annoying whisk distortion, now it distorts a little bit, but it's a whole other world. The af is not ring edits but is fast and precise, with the latest firmware the noise is almost impossible to hear. The af is fast and accurate even in afc. Unfortunately, however, it has several problems that I hope will be solved soon by samyang: with the first fw they blocked the machine and had to be restarted (a72, a73), with the latest version instead coming out of the standby the af often crashes and I have to unscrew and rescrew the lens. Another thing sometimes the lens inhales it nn is recognized by the machine resulting in failed exposure and F00 as a diaphragm, also here unscrew and rewind. Sammy make a move with the fw.
sent on 25 Febbraio 2019 Pros: Robust construction, stunning sharpness, fast and accurate AF even in poor light conditions Cons: Price still altino, light-predictable-distortion, light flare Opinion: A lens that fascinated me! I used it for a few weeks-I have not bought it yet, hoping that the price, still find it substantially adequate to the values expressed, Cali a little! -In combination with my Sony A7. It has an excellent AF, fast and precise. I find that the lens is very well done, light, well built, with cheap but sturdy finishes. It highlights, in some contexts and at full aperture, a slight distortion at the edges, but nothing dramatic. What shocked me is the sharpness, which does not even give up in poor light conditions. Presents, in the most pushed backlight, a slight flare.
sent on 21 Dicembre 2018 Pros: AF fast, sharpness, reliability Cons: Vignettà a bit and distortion (although justified) Opinion: Excellent lens. I have it coupled with my A7R3 and I do not regret having it with me, indeed! I always bring her back! From very sharp results and does not create problems with flare. It distorts but not too much, everything can be improved with a fast PP or knowing how to work even during its use in the field with the right perspectives. I didn't find it difficult. I used it mainly for landscapes and architectural photography without wasting even a minute in trouble. AF Fast and accurate.
sent on 13 Gennaio 2018 Pros: Sharp. Color rendering. Af. Cons: Improved construction Opinion: A lens of both construction quality and optical certainly superior compared to the first Samyang. However it is not worth 650 euros official fowa. Autofocus makes the difference and you can see, even if the price is sincerely a bit high. Excellent hot chromaticity and the ability to adjust the focus after the af. Good sharpness already at full aperture, closing you get excellent results. Quite sharp at the edges, pay a little price of the absence of the lens profile in lightroom, but it is the only thing to do. For the rest is a nice trinket that I recommend to those who want a wide angle for sony of good work without going in the disproportionate band of the hegemony Zeiss. However unique lens of its kind. To be used with filters and 150mm holder
sent on 29 Agosto 2017 Pros: Construction, sharpness Cons: Distortion, focus ring Opinion: I've been using it for about a month with great satisfaction on Sony A7II. Autofocus is fast and accurate even though for the time I used it mostly in manual. The focus ring is more precise than the manual version but always away from Sony and Zeiss, when using rotation it has a more "plastic" feeling and less fluid.rn the whole opening the sharpness to the edges is not really the maximum But improves immediately by closing the diaphragm slightly while in the rest of the frame is of a very good level. The bag I do not like, used to those Sony / Zeiss ... but it is a negligible detail. Part of this indicates a low flare resistance. Maybe that's why Samyang offers it with a non-detachable lint.rnThank you very satisfied with the purchase for my use mainly for night photos. Great 5 year warranty.
sent on 19 Dicembre 2016 Pros: Construction, sharpness, autofocus quickly and precisely Cons: Price, slight distortion (fixable in post production). Opinion: The first ultra wide-angle Samyang for Sony mirrorless camera equipped with autofocus! All the advantages of the manual version added up to a fast and accurate AF. This lens coupled to a Sony A7R vers. 2 facilitates even more the photographer's work: nothing to do with hand specimens with the notch at the busted 'infinito.rnLa solid construction gives a pleasant feeling: very robust and finishes really be pro series. Amazing sharpness, the excellent BSI sensor! Minimum focusing distance: 20cm. Diaphragm Blades: 7. The slight distortion is fixable in post production with the appropriate commands in the various software. In the package there is the usual bag and plugs lens cover. The price at launch is slightly higher end, surely drop over the course of 2017 with the marketing of additional quantities. In Italy it is available for free (included in the price quoted above - about 730 Euros) the warranty extension to 5 years thanks to the official distribution by the Fowa.
