sent on 19 Febbraio 2018 Pros: Sharpness from F2 with a great restitution of colors. It's quite very solid and has a weight well balanced. Remarquable transmittance (T2.2). Cons: The manual focus but that's the game ;) The focusing ring is a bit hard on the video edition of this lens… Opinion: For 338 € on a black Friday, I let myself be tempted by this lens for video reports. (You still can find it at that price I presume). I have got the Samyang 135mm T2.2 VDSLR II ED UMC version, which is fitted with a narrow focusing ring, hard and indented in order to receive the follow focus. Apart from that the photo and video versions have exactly the same optic composition. So, then, I tried it to take pictures. And to me since the very first trigger, the optical result is magnificent! For now, among my five lenses this one is my favorite. Within two months of event work, I have been using it on a second camera with an average of two hundred pictures per day (which actually is a lot for a manual lens). Furthermore that frenzy cost me real pains in my hands :'( To conclude, here is my advice: if you buy it for creative pictures which give you time to create your composition and shut whenever you feel like, at that price it's the best choice. You might get better with a Zeiss… ? But I don't have any gold teeth to sell! ; ) But if you want to shoot events like dance, sports or get clear wildlife pictures, I wouldn't say it's useless, but not suitable at all... Without autofocus, you waste lots of pictures. Apart from all what I said, this lens can be a real good investment because without autofocus or stabilizer (and if you do not let it drop or bang it ;), then you should keep it for years without any breakdown ;)
sent on 08 Gennaio 2024 Pros: Image quality, sharpness, bokeh, bright aperture, price Cons: Loss of contrast in backlight, weight, absence of contact, green cast Opinion: Spectacular optics to say the least for the selling price. The image quality is impressive, the sharpness is very high already at f/2 and improves when the aperture is closed. Incredibly creamy bokeh with well-defined bubbles of highlights in the background. Optically corrected chromatic aberration, almost non-existent. Well-frictioned and precise focus ring, aperture ring with half-stop increments (f/2 to f/22). Excellent build quality, which raises the weight to almost 1kg. Fortunately, the lens is compatible with a ring for Sony FE 24-240 mm, an accessory I would say almost indispensable. Good reproduction ratio (1:4, which becomes 1:2 on m4/3 cameras, I use it on OM-1) which, together with the minimum fairly close focusing distance, make it a perfect lens for artistic nature photography of flowers, fungi, insects etc... Since it has no contacts, the machine does not save the exif data. It suffers from a large loss of contrast in strong backlight situations. My specimen has a green cast that can be easily corrected in post-production by acting on the color temperature. It is not a tropicalized lens. It seems that it takes up the optical scheme of a Zeiss lens, and the results can be seen. Great goal.

sent on 03 Dicembre 2023 Pros: Build Quality, Sharpness, Brightness Cons: Lens hood, front cap Opinion: I've been using this lens for exactly 1 year. On the Z6 + FTZII, the weight is felt, but I think it's synonymous with quality. The lack of AF is not a problem for me, in 25 years of photography I think I have figured out how to focus by hand. Smooth and smooth manoeuvres of any kind. At maximum aperture it is able to bring out a very pleasant blur. The sharpness of the lenses has nothing to envy to the most famous optics of the same category. I've never tried my hand at astrophotography, so I can't pronounce myself. On the set portrait (even full-length) the detachment between background and subject is well marked! Photographing flowers with shots on the grass is what I love to do the most, so much so that I don't regret the 105 macro. Maybe the quality of the lens hood and the front cap is not excellent, but I think that at that price (paid just over € 500.00) you can accept it without too much discontent.
sent on 02 Dicembre 2023 Pros: Excellent sharpness, astrophotographic performance, excellent construction, smooth and precise manual focus Cons: The caps, especially the back one, are quite poor. Opinion: I bought this lens almost exclusively for astrophotography, as it is recommended by many people for its quality under the starry skies. I can only confirm the various positive opinions about it. It enjoys excellent sharpness, as well as a very good quality construction. Its generous maximum aperture makes it a high-performance lens in the field of astrophotography of large portions of the sky. It is also easily transportable even in less accessible places, unlike a telescope which by nature is obviously more bulky. Its short focal length compared to a telescope makes it superfluous to the use of autoguiding. I would also recommend it for naturalistic or portrait use, as long as you accept manual focusing (moreover operated by a very fluid precise ring) The only drawback to point out: the caps, especially the rear one, are of a quality not up to the optics.
sent on 18 Settembre 2023 Pros: Excellent image definition and precise MAF adjustment Cons: maybe the weight but I think it is consistent with the characteristics of the lens, the hood rather ugly Opinion: I took the samyang 135 f2 to use it on mirrorless aps-c Fujifilm then with the well-known crop factor that makes it a bright 200mm. I use it mainly for remote portraits, landscapes and photographs in events: what can I say, as an owner of both the Fuji 56 APD and the viltrox 85, I am very favorably impressed. The color rendering is balanced (in my opinion better than that of the Viltrox that tends to magenta in some situations) and hardly mistakes a photo for incorrect focusing. I use it mostly on X-H1 so I benefit from the stabilizer being able to shoot even with 1/60 time without motion problems. I highly recommend it.
sent on 19 Gennaio 2023 Pros: Although it has been designed for FF, it is so sharp as to guarantee an excellent performance even on APS-C and M4/3, in fact it is also available with the latter connection. Very good at TA, great at 2.4, excellent at 2.8. Closing more only serves for greater depth of field. On the M4/3 only the central part of the lenses is used, the best one, so the center / edges yield is uniform and the blurred light points remain regular spheres even at the edges and do not become ovals or as on many zooms of pointed ovals not very aesthetic. Excellent blurred. Cons: Opinion: I waited for years for Pana or Oly to design a fixed lens between 100-135 mm f / 2 to be used in indoor events where light is never enough especially for M4 / 3 sensors. The old 35-100 f/2 of Oly was too heavy a lens as well as expensive to be able to use it freehand for hours. Purchased new 2 years ago at 460 euros during a Samyang promo, I think it has an excellent quality / price ratio.
sent on 20 Agosto 2021 Pros: Everything or almost everything Cons: A little weight Opinion: I bought this lens mainly for astrophotography and I must say that it works great by tightening a little' the diaphragm you get fairly round stars and with very contained chromatic aberrations even at the edges of the field ( I have a canon 80D normal and a 1100D fullspectrum). Good definition as well I am very satisfied with the purchase
sent on 04 Giugno 2019 Pros: Brightness, resolution, precision focus ring, F2!!, cost, build quality, solidity! Cons: Weight... Executioner if he weighs.. Opinion: A brick! But a very nice brick:) It weighs a lot but what about... Just for this in the end you have well clear how solid and well "present" in the hands this magical and economical glass by Samyang bought on E-Infinity at 360 euros, a price from nothing... Although it is a MF and does not have anything electronic.. Definitely worth more! Recommended for those like me do not do problems to wink in the viewfinder to see if you're focusing or not.. :) But just use the highlight feature of the focus area and away.. I use it with Sony A7R2 but also on APSC a6000 which turns it into a 200F2!! Certainly lacks stabilization but for some shots is not a problem..
sent on 22 Agosto 2018 Pros: Almost everything Cons: Heavy weight, footprint, has no autofocus Opinion: A splendid lens, with a striking and superabundant sharpness already at full aperture, perhaps even an excessive hair in the portrait. With the magnification and contour effect of Sony focuses with extreme precision in a moment; The focus ring is activated with great precision and offers the right resistance, as well as the diaphragm ring. The tone and colour rendition is extremely faithful, especially for the skin, the fuzzy is very creamy and pleasant to all the openings in which it is visible. Cons are the lack of autofocus, its being cumbersome and heavy, the focal perhaps slightly too long for portraits that forces you to do two or three steps back for those accustomed to medium tele under 100mm. Attention to flare: Use the hood supplied and do not directly frame light sources. Ultimately it is a great lens for laid and landscapes, less obviously for photos on the fly. The price is ridiculous compared to the performance offered.
sent on 28 Giugno 2017 Pros: sharpness, bokeh at f/2 aperture stop, many collars, fluidity, resistance to flare, no chromatic aberrations, almost no distortion. minimum focus distance struck (manages to focus even less than 80 cm!) Cons: square 2, over f/Bokeh at every aperture. pronounced vignetting. any kind of stabilization (pros/cons). great lens mirrorless species. absence of tripod ring series Opinion: Superb lens, excellent. No real flaw found. The sharpness at room temperature is astounding, even at 2.8 reaches its peak, amazing indeed. The fact that both manual makes me prefer even corresponding AF, both for my photographic style that for total control that is exercised in manual about this beast, suitable for photo cutlery and studied. PDC millimetric at f/2 If the pupil a subject slightly listing is in focus, the rest of the eye is not perfectly accurate, fluid, Nuts ... nothing to do with little brother 14 mm. Intense colors and precise. Proper weight to the lens. Being a 135 would require stabilization already at slower speeds to 1/200 to get still images without monopod; It would be appropriate to use a camera with integrated stabilizer. On sony a7 seems a real monster, with the lens hood attached does not go unnoticed even if you want it. A lens is really impressive, I feel the need to always hold when I shoot so as not to damage the hooks of the camera; the lens alone weighs nearly twice the body. The samyang doesn't produce the tripod ring, impossible to find a suitable replacement, better have it print in 3D with a small project. The bokeh at f/2 is gorgeous, other faceted shape and unfortunately no longer focal round, sin.
sent on 21 Luglio 2016 Pros: Construction, weight, lens hood, lens aperture, focus, fluidity nuts, sharpness Cons: the half hour needed to get used to the manual Opinion: A sumptuous lens. Nothing to envy the noble Canon 135 that I had and loved, but more than double the costs. Just tried it, the goal threw me and displaced, as I was accustomed to autofocus. But then ... it was like descending from modern fully electronic car that does not make you neither skid nor drifting, and hop on a car true, no frills, where everything is left to your control. Rediscover the pleasure of regular time and diaphragm, on 5DMarkIII there is not even the confirmation of focus, but my first thirty shots I've thrown away only a small part. Has an incredibly creamy focus, clarity than on a lens in this price range would be unimaginable. Obviously forget action photography, this is a peaceful purpose, possibly from portraits on the stand, bright and solid as a rock. The next purchase? Brother 100mm Macro.
sent on 05 Marzo 2016 Pros: Construction (well assembled, also nice to see and hold), sharpness and risolvenza amazing, very nice blurred, bright colors, minimum focusing distance (0.8metri), MF precision, weight and size 'right / i', good balance and excellent ergonomics. rnPrezzo unequaled. Cons: Flare. dominant green / blue background. Opinion: Those rascals of Koreans were able to pull out of the hat a very cool lens at a very competitive price of sale. Previously, Samyang did not convince me that great (considering just the photos that are on the web), but with this 135 I am convinced, and how! I state that I own a Nikon 135 f3.5 to, but I have not ever had to tear the hair from the excitement ... therefore I was looking for a worthy improvement, containing at most groceries. I rated the Nikon f2.8 ais, ais the f2, the 135 f2 DC, the 11th Tair Zenit, the Zeiss Apo Sonnar .... The last of these was the only one who fully centrava my idea of ??photography perfectly balanced (light, color, contrast, shadows, transitions ...), but the expense (minimum 1400) worried me a bit '. Then, while I was going to 'fall back' on the 135 DC, I stopped on this Samyang.rnDevo say it is a remarkable object: It is crisp and clean to f2, with outstanding blurry one (very similar to the Nikon 85 f1.8G), including f4, and f8 is graniticamente neddo and chanted, it has a focusing ring precise and pleasant fire to rotate, has a very good construction with aluminum frame, an important weight but balanced, as well as for the size, the hood 'seriously' with a good coupling (type Nikon), the CPU for the focus confirmation, shows no significant chromatic aberrations, is an IF, so no 'ledge' floating esterna.rnUnico neo, are the highlights: he is not completely immune, does not take a lot of the high lights (Nikon's worse), a sign that the UMC technology could do something better to eliminate the flare, at least in a credible way! rnFantasmi and purple fringes do not know, I seem reasonably kept at bay. It has a general, veiled blue cast ... solvable in PP. The bag included in the package is a simple handkerchief in which to wrap, so you need to take a more robust case to carry it around. I would say that spending 550euri, guaranteed FOWA 5years, we will take home a lens on which to rely, and that costs mety of the price of a Nikon or a Canon of the same focal length. Clearly you must be willing to always focuse and still hand (which I prefer, among other things). Compared to the aforementioned ais, has a cooler made, more modern, without forgetting the most immediate focus centering. In the portraits is expressed in almost flawlessly, best of Nikon 85 f1.8G (although the latter has a little bit softer blurred). rnHa breakneck risolvenza: not enough for me the pixels of my cameras (12Mp) when I do the on-screen magnification !! It's sorpendendo every minute passa.rnAcquisto to consider seriously, unless you can not afford the Sonnar (which still costs three times), which is significantly better, but not on another planet. rnSe want to compare him to a car, I would say that is a DeTomaso Pantera, who at the time was a match to the Ferrari and Lamborghini. rnBello.rn
sent on 11 Luglio 2015 Pros: Sharpness already 'at maximum aperture, lens hood, only 80cm as minimum distance of maf and very few aberrations easily correctable Cons: for me maybe in a bit tough the ring of maf Opinion: I come from Samyang 85 that straammiro and I can only confirm the goodness' of this 135. Monstrously clear already at full aperture and with very few AC. I do not know what will be comfortable using it on reflex except with the LV for its manual focus, but on ML and optical viewfinder allows you to focus with a disarming ease. L 'only "flaw" in my opinion is the ring of maf duretta a bit, but I think with a bit of use to soften as with 85. A must have in kit.
