sent on 27 Marzo 2015 Pros: Amazing angle of view, Ultra ultra wide, sharp, compact, build, 2.8. Cons: Fully manual lens, no AF confirm, no exif. Opinion: This is an excellent fish-eye lens! This is one of the widest lenses for full frame in the world, regardless of cost. It produces punchy, contrasty sharp images. Although other fish-eye lenses offer a 180 degree diagonal view, this offers a wider view on the horizontal and vertical axis. Distortion not as pronounced as with canon fish-eye lenses as it uses a different more subtle image projection. The manual focus is really not an issue. When focusing at close distance, you can easily detect the sharp focus by eye. When focusing at medium and far distances, just use the focus scale. Because this lens is so wide, the depth of field is huge, aiding a mis-focused shot quite a lot. An example of this; if shooting at f5.6 at 12mm on FF, the image will be sharp from 0.4433m to infinity. The lens focuses to 0.2m. So basically everything will be in focus. The mechanical construction is quite good and resembles the Samyang 8mm lens. All in all a great product, which is significantly cheaper than alternatives.
sent on 19 Agosto 2024 Pros: Well made, light and compact, appears solid, price Cons: the lack of AF Opinion: I was looking for a Wide Angle/Fisheye without breaking the bank and having a good quality in the final image. I bought this lens very compact in size and light, however it appears solid and well made with a front lens that protrudes a lot. Manual use is not very intuitive, although the distance scale on the barrel helps a lot, in short, you have to get used to it a little, nothing impossible although some out-of-focus shots happen. The angle shot is very wide and in the frame you have to pay attention to your feet which are easy to include in the margin without realizing it. Used wide open it is not very sharp, an aspect that improves enormously as you close the aperture, from f8 it is excellent. It allows very creative shooting by exploiting the distortion typical of this type of lens by putting it off-axis with respect to the horizontal plane. Acceptable flare and slightly dull color rendering. I would say that I am fully satisfied with the amount spent.
sent on 21 Ottobre 2022 Pros: Not extreme fisheye, angle of view, bright, fluid rings, cost Cons: It is not stabilized, not filterable Opinion: This lens is two-faced: since it is a diagonal fisheye it does not have the characteristic porthole image but covers the entire frame. The distortion is very low, although the angle is always 180°. So if you keep it in bubble it behaves almost like a straight super wide angle, if you tilt it the magic of the fisheye is born. It is quite sharp, perhaps a little less than the 8-15 L Canon that resists even better to backlight (hooray, it costs 3-4 times more). It has no autofocus but the dials are very fluid. It has no stabilizer. You must be careful not to take back the feet, fingers or paws of the tripod. Being 12mm f/2.8 it is very valid for shooting stars in very wide field. Dimensions and weight are minimal, the hood is a bit uncomfortable but must protect the non-filterable bulb lens. It can be the extreme completion of those who already have a super wide angle like a 16mm or those who have an all-rounder zoom like a 24-xxx. At the price it has today, especially in used, it is extremely recommended.
sent on 12 Ottobre 2021 Pros: Sharpness, no vignetting, low weight and minimum size Cons: for that amount ... no cons Opinion: I have this lens for a few weeks, taken with native Sony attack, I am using it on an A7Riii, the automatisms are missing, but in manual focus Sony helps a lot with red tracking. From his best in architectural shots, I was surprised by his really precise angle of view to the outer limit. It is a very bright lens and this helps. I reserve the right to add something about how she works outdoors, but to date I am fully satisfied. The price ... last but not least it is relatively low and allows you to take off the whim of having a 12mm that perhaps is not an "indispensable" lens.
sent on 03 Luglio 2021 Pros: Many qualities:price quality of used materials, excellent night sharpness. Cons: Very but very cumbersome, it is not so easy to manage it Opinion: I would like to say that my opinion is the result of the use of a couple of hours and at night. The quality of the files at night is very good. The materials used give that feeling of a lens of excellent workmanship. I find it very but very cumbersome, used with Canon 6D the results are amazing, but it is not easy to manage it. As far as I am concerned, I am very satisfied. Vote8.
sent on 06 Gennaio 2021 Pros: Many merits: sharpness, decidedly good perceived construction quality, weight in the norm, high cost value, flare almost absent. Cons: Poorly frictioned focus, front lens size and its vulnerability due to impossibility of mounting security filter. With the supplied cap you can defend yourself from raindrops and dust, because practical to assemble, but being very bulky, you need a nice pocket to store it to the need. Opinion: Recently purchased, I immediately enjoyed using it to discover its potential. I was very surprised at its quality and the reduced distortion. In landscape photos, mainly used in hyperfocal, you can totally forget about the focus for the great depth of field it offers. With the Sony a7II on M, exposure control is also easy and, once the diaphragm is chosen, the times are easily selected for correct exposure, which are also visible and controllable in the crosshairs. What to say, a great goal, recommended! For me I vote 9.5 because 10 is not given until perfectly.
sent on 14 Novembre 2020 Pros: Sharpness, almost total absence of flares, colors, covered field angle, construction, basically almost everything. Cons: Focus ring a little too little clutched, cap. Opinion: After the positive experience of the 8mm fisheye Samyang, sold alas, when I took off the Canon 80D to switch to only FF bodies, and the bad experience with the 14mm MF Rokinon (Samyang for the American market), I bought this optics in the hope of being able to retry the pleasure experienced with aps-c. Luckily for me, or perhaps because it comes from Fowa, it was a great surprise to find that it is well beyond the performance of the 8mm, as it is already usable f2.8 with excellent results at f4.0 and exceptional over the entire frame at f5.6. The flare, present in the 8mm, in this 12mm is almost completely absent and when it is present it is very invasive. The construction is good and without games, moreover the MF ring was precise in the distance indications but a little too fluid, I would have preferred it a little more dampened. Certainly better than the other two objectives of the same house That I had, in which I had to adjust the MF ring to have reliable indications or the 14mm that had games to the fixed lampshed and the frontal optical group inside, as well as to the MF ring. The only exception to the good construction of this realization is the cap, which compared to that of both the 8mm and the 14mm is unstable and with a lot of play, so much so that I had to glue leather thicknesses inside to reduce its wobbly. The colors are the ones that made me appreciate the previous fisheye and offers a unique stereographic projection, different and more uniform than other tried fisheyes. Used for mainly hyperfocal panoramas, it guarantees operational speed and excellent results, for more precise focus, better to rely on the live view with 10x monitor magnification. Satisfied with the purchase and naturally recommended product if you like the kind of photographs it returns.
sent on 12 Gennaio 2020 Pros: All... Sharpness, colors... Cons: Nothing for now Opinion: Tried with Z6 with day satisfaction, I promise to use it at night. With Nikon Z6 and Z7 reports all the shooting exifs... (not the Samyang brand). In LR the fixes are loaded and manual MAF is not a problem with both Focus Peaking and not . Flare very small ... and less bad because the backlight you take easy easy with 180 degrees shooting ...
sent on 08 Dicembre 2019 Pros: Field angle, price, robustness Cons: All manual, the machine does not detect shooting data, limited fish-eye effect. Opinion: I've been trying this lens for about a week and I have to admit that the value for money is amazing. It is true, it is completely manual, but from such a perspective it matters relatively little. With the focus peaking of the EOS R does not miss a beat. Compared to the Fish-Eye 8-15 Canon the difference in vision is there but it is less important than it may seem by the numbers: with the Canon used at 14mm they are almost identical (in fact the angle of view is for both 180 degrees). Even the flare, compared to the 14 F/2.8 II of Canon, is minimal. If I have to find a flaw, indeed two, I can say that the fish-eye effect is less important than you might expect (but it can also be an advantage) and then, it may not be important but to the subscriber to annoy, this thing that the snap data is not recorded on the file is a small problem.
sent on 26 Luglio 2019 Pros: Price, colors, sharpness. Cons: full opening obvious coma but from f4 onwards disappears Opinion: A Mr Objective, I still use it a short time ago, but I begin to appreciate the qualities on the demanding sensor of the A7r2, excellent colors and sharpness. Obviously you have to understand and make the most of the Fisheye effect, which I'm still doing, but I still highly recommend it, then for the price that is online, it's worth it.
sent on 03 Luglio 2019 Pros: almost everything... Cons: a little bit of graft on Canon 6D Mark II Opinion: Bought after reading all the reviews here on juzaphoto and I have to say that the purchase was great, a great ideal lens for views and night photos. The first uses gave me some satisfaction but I still have to study. Thanks to all the experienced reviewers who, as I said, with their indications allowed me to decide with great value for money.
sent on 05 Febbraio 2019 Pros: Everything is great Cons: Nothing perhaps the ring of distances not very precise Opinion: I use it on my Pentax K! Mark II from about 2 months, I would never take it off the camera body is just fantastic, the cost is negligible compared to the quality of the images that also produces at full aperture, but the best gives it as always at 5.6.La minimum distance of MAF is excellent and allows To make strange inquarature, has nothing to envy to the most known Canon and Nikon, if the plays on par if not even win.
sent on 09 Maggio 2018 Pros: Absence of flare, cost, construction, sharpness, usable also in street, the presence of the aperture scale on the lens barrel is totally manual. Cons: Cumbersome used in live view on my 6d, use with non-screw filters Opinion: I have not yet purchased this lens, lent by a friend for a couple of shots I realized that there was a certain feeling already from the first picture, I was loaned again on the occasion of my trip to London, where I could try it for 5 days and the thing that immediately got me C Were shooting at was the total absence of flare in any light conditions in which I tripped. A very creative goal, allows you to see things from a different point of view and with the right angle you can compose without too much trouble. At diaphragm 8/11 The MAF goes from a few tens of centimeters to infinity, thus allowing to frame "important" first planes that increase the sensation of depth of the shot. The management of the exposure is not accurate and you have to take into account to apply a corrective to what is indicated by the machine (but with mine I'm used to doing with all the goals I have) In Live view my camera coupling lens gave me Some problem always and still solvable, in fact you have to use the same technique of filters ND at 10 stop, ie you have to compose with an open aperture to be able to see the right images in the display and then adjust the light according to the exposure meter taking into account Of the fixes described above, the operation is simple when you can use a tripod, a little less on the freehand shot. Returned the lens to the rightful owner, now I miss a lot and without having it in the bag I want to go around taking pictures knowing that I have to give up many shots surely achievable with this lens. In post I did not bother to download the profile for LR and I managed the distortion directly with PS, I must say that the middle part is almost always usable and without distortion, at the edges instead the distortion is accentuated but nothing incorrigible.
sent on 15 Settembre 2017 Pros: Opening, chromatic yield, not very contrasted, distortion contained, lightweight and well-constructed Cons: Nothing Opinion: I have been using this great lens for about 1 year and are fully satisfied with it. It is mainly used for panoramic photography and has become my reference lens. The contrast is very small and the color rendering is really great. The distortion to be a fisheye is contained and if perfectly bubble lets you shoot at 12mm with a 180 ° field angle with a coma content, which makes this small Samyang a perfect lens for nighttime photographs.
sent on 11 Agosto 2017 Pros: Great lens, bright, great color rendering and contrast. Distortion more than acceptable for this focal length, all manual Cons: Absolutely nothing Opinion: Found on offer on Amazon at just over 300 €, the lens is excellent, beautiful colors, image cut already at TA, before that I tried the 15mm sigma and the 16mm nikon. Strange but true on my D800E this is the most performing. Fortunately no AF with which to quarrel in the dark of concerts, manual fire and pedal
sent on 21 Maggio 2016 Pros: Excellent lens, light, excellent color rendering and contrast. Distortion more than acceptable for this focal length. Cons: Unremarkable Opinion: Great for landscapes, even at night. Brightness, color, contrast and excellent sharpness. It does not feel too the lack of automation. Excellent at all aperture.rnCertamente consigliato.rnUna recommendation to pay CAREFUL: although protected in its fabric bag, with lids properly inserted and positioned in the compartment of the right size of a camera bag, perhaps the inevitable vibrations during transport, the whole of the front lens block is unscrewed and removed from the body. Luckily I noticed it because at the time of taking the bag I heard noises, I screwed the whole thing and nothing happened ... but if he had fallen !! I will contact the 'care to know if you can lock the thread.
sent on 30 Gennaio 2016 Pros: Brightness, yield very good contrast and faithful color, light and well balanced, beautiful view angle, lens hood well conceived. Cons: All manual. Opinion: After many thoughts, I opted x this wonderful object and am thrilled I state that I have a Tokhina 11 -16 f.2,8 & 16-28 f2.8 but this one other thing, shoot in the dark the city is incredible. Canon does not transmit data, but for me is not important. What do you try to add x credere.se know someone or your provider fidicia I guarantee that when you try it prendete.Certo I primarily with this goal photographer landscapes.
sent on 22 Gennaio 2016 Pros: Sharpness, brightness, light and compact lens fun Cons: ring not just smooth, a bit difficult to engage, but nothing impossible. Opinion: I use it for very little, but I really like, the distortion is fun and the angle of impressive, if you're not careful you enter yourself in the photos. And with a click straighten photos and get wide-angle views without distortion with a very small loss of frame. Not an objective for all, in the sense that you have to like the genre, but if you like then it is perfect, and you take it home again with less than 500 €. The details are very good even at full aperture, the loss is minimal even in the corners.
sent on 26 Novembre 2015 Pros: Sharpness, angle of extreme solidity 'constructive Cons: Lack auofocus, but ... I really need? Opinion: Purchased new less than 500 Euros, I think is the most fish eye 'economic market. Very clear even at full aperture and across the field it brings images sharply etched and contrasted. Being a 12 mm, except for close-up shots are always in focus by setting the dial to infinity focus, and you forget that and 'a manual focus. To shoot close-ups, live view saves lives (the ring of distances and not 'very precise); Also on 6D also it works in AV, and the screen contrasts the fall of brightness' that is felt in the optical viewfinder when you close the diaphragm. Really fun (to those who like the genre) and shots at a safe distance and camera horizontally without even large distortions. Highly recommended!
sent on 23 Ottobre 2015 Pros: Excellent sharpness across the frame, cost, absolutely controllable deformation and, if you look like the typical fisheye, absolutely pleasant Cons: nobody Opinion: I bought a month ago, with less than 500 €. Not yet fully exploit it, but the first shots reveal the modern design and, as a result, perfect colors. Distortion can say that, on the bubble is almost non-existent, or you can search for deformation effects that contribute to the peculiarity of the shot. At the moment there are very few of this optical focal ff. I would add that it is only in the manual, but this is not a problem, moreover, by closing one or two stops is all shooting is always in focus.
sent on 04 Agosto 2015 Pros: Sharpness throughout the frame. Weight, high clarity, very bright beautiful colors Cons: Nobody Opinion: I was taken to my xt1 we immediately felt at ease. Beautiful lens with extreme wide angle field. If put to bubble Nn he even notices you shoot with a fish. Samyang as always never disappoints. A lens just over 499 euro and it is fantastic, it gives images faithfully super bright colors and truly nude. I recommend it to everyone. I also add a photo because there are few. One with my girlfriend at the harbor with all the ropes to the ground. Photo not post produced. Truly a great lens.
sent on 25 Maggio 2015 Pros: 12mm full format (the only one for Nikon), maximum aperture high, very crisp, solid construction, compact, economical, provides images with less distorted fisheye 15mm Cons: Manual focus, inability to use filters, optical difficult. Opinion: Truly an innovative optical roesent as the finning of cover fisheye, but with a focal length of 12mm instead of the traditional 14 to 16, this provides much less distorted images and a lot more real. The sharpness is very high and the maximum aperture is truly remarkable if he closes the aperture the sharpness is maximum and also the depth of field. It 'a goal-miracle as an accomplishment like that until a few years ago was unthinkable. I really recommend it ... it is the most innovative optical I've seen in the last five years. The Nikon has a list 16 that deforms much the image to the edges and costs almost twice as much. The manual focus on my D4 also gives the correct sign of AF, however, with the depth of field that has stopping down is really hard to blur.
sent on 04 Maggio 2015 Pros: Very crisp, images are truly carved. It works well even at full aperture, but the best performance is obtained from f / 4 to f / 11, like most of the other goals. The angle covered is very wide (180 °) and this makes it particularly suitable for night pictures. The attack for nikon transmits the Exif data. Very advantageous price, considering those of other brands Cons: None. The manual focus is an advantage because it forces you to think about what photographers Opinion: The Samyang has taken another big lens for full frame. the price is low and worth all; if some other brand will do a more noble lens like that at the same price, someone let me know! for lovers of the landscape and stellar photo is a perfect target. The distortion is typical fisheye and not a nuisance but a pleasure; if just in some photos you do not want distortion you can use it in parallel to the horizon.
